Although it can be "hand bent" I think you will still need a bending tool to avoid kinks..

sotsira, that explanation makes perfect sense, and fits what the mechanics are saying - that the bike needs a rebuild. Thanks.
Can you feel much compression if you kick over the engine slowly.
There was a Yamaha thread on here somewhere about Yamahas not start in in cold weather. Whilst it cannot be proven without testing there is a temperature sensor somewhere that activates the enrichment for starting that could be faulty. It starts when "warm" but not from cold.
Sorry can't find an online parts diagram.

Have you looked at the front of the box or taken the cover off the bottom.
My guess is an outdoor WIFI antenna. There is some free WIFI nearby and the previous tenant was taking advantage of that.
OR but unlikely it is a WIFI booster and the previous tenant was selling low cost WIFI to the neighbors?
Look at the front of the box if there are lights it is a transmitter, if not it is a receiver.

In SA, the white "elite" has been replaced with a "black elite" - An "elite" issue in Thailand
In SA, sitting members of parliament have been involved in numerous criminal activites, including gun running, rape and quite a few other things - In Thailand similar
In SA, "the head of state" has been accused of Rape and pilfering donations made by the British goverment to build himself a new house - In Thailand numerous PM's have been accused and caught out involved with "criminal" activity
In SA, the treasury is regularly "looted" by people for their own personal gain - simillar to Thailand
In SA, there is cronyism, nepotism and corrpution within the goverment, administrative structures
In SA, Adminstraitve goverment offices/departments are ineffective in their fuunctions - much like Thailand
In SA, the law and order side of things is rapidly becoming ineffective and not functioning properly - same a Thailand
In SA, the poor are still poor and the "rich" still rich - same as Thailand
The list goes on and on
In SA, Many homes have electric security fences. - I am working on it in Thailand

Is it fuel injected or carburetor?
Do you have any booster cables that you can attach to your car to check that the battery is in fact not the problem? Usually the reason for not starting on the button IS the battery. In the good old days sometimes cars would start when one released the key. Because although the battery will trun the engine there is not enough left for the ignition or the FI.
Oh and add to the rental agreement that bikes have to be returned every ??? for inspection and maintenance? Our company rentals in Brazil were like that!

I think I'll go for the baking soda and water mix, let dry and cover in Vaseline.
You don't mix the baking soda with water!
What you do is to pour water onto the terminal, because it is usually only one, to dampen the "corrosion". Let the surface water run off. Then sprinkle/spoon on the baking soda.
When the fizzing stops you are done.

Just curious to know if there is any change in business since the takeover.

yingluck said the rice pledging scheme was aimed at helping rice farmers and the rising incomes of farmers would eventually stimulate the national economy.
Hmmm? While Birthday Boy was brokering rice deals in Dubai?
My take is that the rice pledging scheme was a way of taking money from the big rice traders and putting it in the hands of Pheu Thai. But hey what do I know?

It is a lottery. Every week at our running group there are stories about shoe purchases, shoes falling apart 300m or 3 months or...
My suspicion is raised if the model type/number is not in running mags or the company website.

A lot depends on your personality and riding style. Consider the CB500X rather than the F? Also it is more fun to go fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike so sit on the Z250 and see if it feels comfortable. The Kawa is a bit more revy than a Honda equivalent but that revy nature will bring a smile to your face if your personality fits. It you simply want a bike and a reliable go anywhere for say getting out of town for photography or.. then get a 500X.
That being said there are lots of used ER6's around!

Yes, Coca Cola/Pepsi works the best actually and quickly, but this is also fine.. Remove from the battery and let it soak w bit in either of these solutions, the Coke/Pepsi suggestion or the bicarb suggestion..For the battery terminal. clean it with a baking soda water solution, use a tooth brush to scrub.
when clean dry it off and smear petroleum jelly on the post and around the base, fit terminal back on.... finished.
door handle... 4 year old car.... prolly a plastic part has broken inside the door.
Ha you beat me this time! Yep. Coca cola or Pepsi. Pour a little on and wait, rinse with more etc. Give the whole battery top a good soaking. Baking soda is best but Coca cola easier to find.

May I humbly suggest that is is a straight forward walk. 3.2 km each way. Takes about 40 mins each way. Yes I know this takes about 2.5 hrs out of each day but..
OR you could walk there with your child and catch a motocy taxi back and then get a motocy taxi there and walk back. That would only take say 90 minutes out of your day.
If you rose 45mins earlier in the morning, it would only actually take an addition 45mins out of your day around 16.00.
Being present when other parents arrive/depart might make it possible to strike up a relationship or two and who knows some other parent might live near you.
Anyway best of luck

Actually age 50 is new (but with higher financials) - it used to be age 60 with an option at age 55 but with higher financials for the 55-60 year period. The grandfather clause allowed the lower financials to be maintained for those already on retirement extensions until continuous extensions ended.
Perhaps there'll be moves to drop it further (with an even higher financial requirement) to include all the younger "perpetual tourists" that no longer have the back-to-back tourist visas or visa exemptions available to them.
...if anyone from the junta is reading.....
Doesn't Thai Elite card cover that?

Dealership told me Benzine no longer available in thailand. Is this the case???
No. It IS available in some gas stations. If the price board at the gas station has anything for 48.75 - 49.25 it is Benzene 95.
Be careful at Shell stations they have V-power 95 which is higher price than "normal" 95 but is still 10% alcohol.

What's tax got to do with this thread?
Well it has to do with the suggested WALT visa (post#40) So my post about the taxes was based on the "other" way to get a visa and that is opening a company, employing 3-5 locals and applying for a work permit. So to make it on par with that...
Maybe then someone can correct me. If one starts a business one of the requirements is that you have to pay tax a minimum of something like 17,000 baht a month income tax?
If people are here on a work permit are working for a company they do not own and on a PAYE basis then it is obviously different. People already living and working here, already pay their tax.
-
I applied for and was told I would receive a multi entry but when I picked it up I'd received a single entry which is useless as I have to return home to see the family in a couple of months.
You can get a re-entry permit at the airport.
-
I don't work here, so you will have to help me out.
No but you obviously have some form of income. So are you try to evade taxes?
What is the tax on earning 50,000 baht a month in Thailand?
About 17,000 a month, I believe. Might be 16,000.
Why wouldn't a hypothetical "WALT visa" holder pay 12 x "X income tax" for the year, and some visa fees. Why would they pay 50,000 baht x 12 = 600,000 baht.
They would pay 20,000 a month just like guys that work here. 20,000 x 12 is 240,000.
They do not earn here, so why should they pay income tax?
They should pay tax just like in any other country because they are using infrastructure and services provided by the government. Not paying tax is akin to tax evasion which is illegal in most countries.
I agree they should pay a visa fee, or a form of contribution to fund infastructure they are using, but why should they pay the equivalent of income tax, especially when they are outside of Thailand quite a lot.
That so called visa fee of 20,000/a year proposed will not cover the infrastructure etc.
Also, I don't understand this part of your post, "plus whatever the fees are for visa extension and work permit renewal" - there is no work permit to purchase.
Currently if you work here you need a work permit, So it is just to make it on par with guys who live and work here.
These people work abroad, but on their time off, they holiday/live in Thailand. They work for a foreign entity, not a Thai Company, therefore, no work permit needed for Thailand.
So say 3 weeks here then gone for X weeks so If they holiday here then they only need a tourist visa which they can get in any country outside Thailand, or visa on arrival at the airport. (built with government money). Then no need for a new style visa like the proposed WALT. But if they If they "reside" here. Condo/House , car etc. then..
Also they are free to "holiday" anywhere. Why here?
-
On another note, why is it Thais never have fuel in their scooters?
I have asked a few - why put in 40 baht when you can fill it up.
Answer - save money. I only spend 40 baht now, not 80.
...and your relatives would siphon out the other 40

Like many people who live here, why should I pay income tax if I don't work here?
Like everyone else, I pay VAT on everything that I buy.
Well I would think that you have to pay for any service the government provides no matter where you live. If you don't work here then you don't have to pay income tax? Do you?
But to stay here you need a visa that either allows you to work here and pay tax or if over 50 a visa that allows you to declare your income up to the minimum requirement so you can bring that money into the country and spend it.
If you have a job outside the Kingdom but wish to reside here continuously without contributing to services that the government provides (not matter what you think of them) you , apparently, no longer can.
The 7% that you pay on your purchases, assuming you don't shop and mom and pop shops that don't charge VAT!, is insufficient to contribute to the services you use.
Where in the world can you reside without contributing locally, but while still working or drawing money from overseas? I suspect not many.
So, if you would have to prove you have a job in another country, or a work permit from another country, or income from another country, why not just create a visa class for these people and make a few quid out of them as well?
They could call it the "Work Abroad Live Thailand" (WALT) visa. 20,000 baht for multi-entry 12 month visa.
Of course, proof of income, employment etc etc needed for the application. They could also put a restriction on the visa that they must leave the country every 60 or 90 days, to create no benefit over coming in on a free 30 day visa exemption stamp, getting a regular 60 day tourist visa.
There is a huge amount of self funded, or offshore/onshore, or contract workers, or 6 months work in there home country and 6 months holiday in Thailand etc etc under 50 years of age market, that Thailand is missing out making a legitimate visa quid from, just to catch up with a very small percentage who work illegaly here.
I agree entirely but to keep the above people on par with those who live and work here the recipients of a "Work Abroad Live Thailand" (WALT) visa should pay tax on the minimum 50,000 baht a month, plus whatever the fees are for visa extension and work permit renewal. So if we round all that up let's just call it 20,000 baht a month for a WALT visa, not 20,000 a year, and be done with it. But of course WALT visa holders still cannot work here and if found working existing laws apply!
OR perhaps Thailand could emulate Malaysia's M2H visa plan?
-
@ B1ade: Yeah, I just sent him a message on Facebook to get the source and will share it with you asap. I've been on an ED visa for 3 or 4 years (can't even remember now
) so I'm a bit worried about the outcome of all this... Wait and see. I'll keep you posted and if you find any relevant info please share as well
Reasonable I suppose. How long doe it take to learn conversational Thai? 3-4 years?

I believe they do or used to get a border pass. From where and how many days may they stay?

Great post OP, and making a lot of sense. However, sense is not that common in Thailand.
It is a great post but will someone tell us where in the world can one reside with no reported income and without paying any tax?
OK there are a few exceptions like maybe Monaco, Isle Of Man, Cyaman Islands etc. but no "normal" countries surely.
OP could open a subsidiary office here? Pay tax on 50,000 and get a visa and a work permit?

Which is about the same output as my electric toothbrush.
I usually do my best thinking in the shower.
To put the electric toothbrush in perspective?
Honda CBR250R 249cc 24hp with after market exhaust 25+
Honda CBR300R 286cc 30.5hp
Honda Forza 300 279cc 33.3hp with variator est 35.5, plus free flow exhaust 38hp (Engine still stock!)
So in the cc battle so far the scooter is ahead on power, that and the effect of CVT
stock honda forza 300 gives 25,4 hp crank and 26 nm torque makes it similar with honda cbr250r in terms of power but forza is 30 kgs heavier than honda cbr250r so you do the math.
Just working with the numbers I have. If i use yours the % improvement becomes 29hp.
Forza 250 was 24.8. So yes comparable to CBR250.
As a reference they got 10.9 from a PCX 125 which is about right. So dyno is not way off.
But as they say figures lie and lairs figure
Not saying the scooter is faster just the engine is not a dog or an electric toothbrush.

Then the prognosis is as you predict. You need at minimum some new rings as the cold start problem is caused by low compression.
You can decide if the rest of the bike is worth the cost.
