  1. My Thai lady stinks of garlic today....

just thought i'd share that sick.gif

Count your blessings. Now if the stink was plaraa, that would most definitely be a long minus in the lovely scoreboard sick.gif

that is banned from the house....kept leaving the lid off the jar

  2. do the 'Thai' thing and grass the boss up to the authorities.....get the UKBA round to the restuarant as well so it really shakes everyone up in there including your wife who if she is being exploited will not be prosecuted...the authorities may question you as to why you let things like this carry on to someone you are married to and have brought over from a foreign country though...

Or just man up (unlike the one above) and talk to the owner face to face, like Farangs do :-)

    Ouch...touched a nerve that one then laugh.png

  4. the idea that you get married, come home, get a job and build a life and home for your wife and son seems to be the best at present, the UKBA at present is not listening to any hard luck stories(and why should they) you could do what the above poster advises and bring your boy home and rely on the social services but again you will be getting into a longer battle on this than getting a job and paying your own way, all depends on your attitude to life and the kind of life you want to provide for your family....a life on the social is nothing to yearn for even though sitting on ones arse may be the ideal life for some...

I returned from Thailand after living/working there for 8 years, it was hard but it's not impossible, just depends on how much back bone you have!

You are fretting over nothing about the boy and language...besides you getting him back here and giving him a decent education in comparisson to whats on offer out there is priority surely?

  5. Sounds like you're in on the scam mate, rolleyes.gif

I am in the police station often, that is true, but I have never been part of any negotiations on settlement there or anywhere else. I simply assist Thai police in conveying the options to both parties. Period. I do not receive, and have never received, one Baht for that or anything else I might do there.

so you work for free then?

Yes. I work as a Foreign Police Volunteer and am used to all the attacks aimed at us and all the misconception that we are the Foreign Tourist Police Assistants and all the guesses and innuendos and bar talk and posts here that are anti. But I know what is positively achieved from this work so that all normally bounces off me. But it does wear thin at times and then I react and try to reasonably explain what I can - as I have done here and above and in other threads.

slow down....I was just establishing a fact and you confirmed it, what you do in your spare time and what you get out of it is your business...you won't find many supporters of it with retorts like above especially on here.

  7. my experience from working in this business was a bit different to just driving people to an office...what you fail to appreciate is the fact that not everyone knows the nooks and cranny's of pattaya and where the best value can be found, I also did a lot of rentals in my time as well as sales and on both sides of it to people new to the area, what some estate agents can provide is local knowlege and their own experience of getting things done...one example I will give you is one of my clients many moons ago after moving into his house and being in town for a good month asked me 'how do you post a letter in this place' I replied do you know soi post office...he replied yes and I kid you not I still had to tell him there was a post office down there,....

You seem to have done a bit more than many, probably because you weren't just selling new builds.

I'm not convinced that all of those new-build-only condo salespersons know where the Post Office is either. Many of them seem to be fresh off the banana boat and hence it's a case of the blind leading the blind.

I suppose that the market can be thankful that buyers like the ones you mention exist.

that last statement counts for pretty much everywhere these days I suppose thumbsup.gif

  8. Seems like a rip off to me. Around 500 baht per person for 20 mins. I think you get a few vodkas thrown in. Sounds like crazy pricing to me. So that's around $50/hour per person. Not exactly what you'd call value for money. Take your gf and that's $100 per hour. LOL.

Why would you want to spend an hour in there??? they sell it as 20 minutes for a reason I would think....500baht for a few vodkas isn't too bad for a gimmick type place, you could go cheaper and sit in the fridge at 7/11 whilst having a booze I suppose if price is a worry for you?

The price doesn't worry me at all. I just don't think it's very good value for money. If people are happy to pay 500 baht for a couple of vodkas just as a gimmick, then that's fine with me. Just seems a bit excessive to me. I wasn't saying you should spend an hour in there. I was just giving an hourly rate as it's an easy way to compare the prices to other forms of entertainment.

I've no need to sit in 7/11. I moved to Thailand for the sun and warm weather, so not sure why I'd want pay to be cold.

But if gimmicks are your thing, go for it.

but you are commenting on an ice bar establishment are you not?

  9. According to a newsletter I read this agency is to specialise in new condos. We will see. But for me such places aren't proper real estate agencies at all, just someone jumping on the 8% commission bandwagon like all the other pale-faced zombies one sees sitting behind "condo for sale" stalls in Central Festival.

Any idiot can drive a client to the developers showroom, let the developer sell the property and then pocket the commission, and if I was buying a new condo I would cut out the middle man, take a taxi to the showroom and then negotiate an extra 8% price cut based on the commission saved.

Just because you know where to go and have lived here for a bit doesn't mean everyone does, granted there are some estate agents like you describe but theres many others who can offer a great deal more.

  10. i still dont understand mate but i know robert was a awful mischievous character

indeed he was, his missus was a bit of alright though and pretty much run that biz before he ruined it...

the other dutch fella was a wannabe real estate agent/tourist police man who would do stings on the establishments that offered a room for an hour that hadn't paid up and occasionally dressed up as Elvis thumbsup.gif

  11. I heard that some guys own Bars ? others sell suits (Indians with Cockney geezer accents only), some people have a business that actually owns their house....Elvis impersonators.....You missed a few Darrel !

    I did.

An estate agent who does Elvis impersonations would indeed be something different.

one did try several years ago.... dutch fella had an office near foodmart...was a bad impersonator though thumbsup.gif

They guy who took hundreds of peoples deposits but couldn't be touched

No he was the one who attacked the dutch elvis and still couldn't be touched, the dutch elvis character had a small shop/office in the same bit, didn't last for long thumbsup.gif

  13. How excited exactly ??

Not saying anything negative about anyone but i will say it would be nice to have someone as howard in this business.I think he will have no problem with getting allot of customers.

    Thanks.

There are plenty of good people in the Real Estate industry in Pattaya, from developers to agents, unfortunately it's normally just the bad apples that get all the "air-time"!!

dish the dirt on the bad apples please thumbsup.gifwhistling.gif

  14. Let me be the first to say with respect if your wife had a child already and you settled in the UK 5 years ago then why if there is such a bond did you not bring the child with you then?

That is your main obstacle and sticking point from what I have read of people with the same problem as yours previously.

No dig at you or your wife...just stating the facts.
