I was a member of a lodge in the UK for many years. When I left the UK I became a country member of that lodge. I've since given up being a member but I look back on my time in masonry, fondly. I enjoyed the meetings and the festive board after. I enjoyed the social side of it too, raising money for charity. I enjoyed the camaraderie. After I moved to Thailand, I visited Chula lodge, Bangkok a couple of times but decided (For many reasons) not to join. I still have my regalia, in its case, on top of the wardrobe. I know nothing of the illuminati or the new world order, and have no interest in that. I just enjoyed the 'Street level' masonry. It's not for everyone, we're all different. I find explaining Freemasonry to someone who isn't a freemason is a bit like explaing Thailand to someone who's never visited the country.

Just a quick update after around 24 days. I had 4 x 1 hour sessions of electro stimulation followed by hot towels to the affected side of my face. I've also been given some meds to take. Things seem to be improving. Muscles have started moving again, and there have been daily improvements, which I'm taking as a good sign. One thing that has worried me is that I saw another doctor at my hospital and despite my improvements he wants me to have an MRI scan. This scared the <deleted> out of me and really knocked my (So far) positive attitude. I told him I'll see him next week and see what further improvements have been made, then take it from there.

The return of the Ford Capri ?
jaiyenyen replied to Social Media's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Mine was a 1972 3.0 V6 GXL. Metallic blue with a black vinyl roof. It was probably one of the best cars I've owned. Twin exhausts gave it a beautiful rumble. The long bonnet in front made you feel like you were laying in bed. Then along came the new baby and I had to give her (The Capri) up for something more practical. I sold it to a lad in my wife's office. He wrote it off within a month. I think part of me is still in mourning. -
Yes. I had the same feeling. Glad that it wasn't a stroke.......ONLY Bell's Palsy 555

connda, I appreciate your advice and input on the topic. And thanks for your good wishes. I was vaccinated against covid, 3x Astra and maybe it was a contributing factor. Who knows? For me, it's unimportant how I got BP. I've got it and I want to concentrate on helping myself get better. Day 6 now and I think I've gained a small amount of movement above my eye. I know it's very early days but it's good to have something positive to report, however small.

I'm trying to stay positive but still go through periods of 'What if'. Day 5 now.

Social media drama over the pulling the wig off an LGBTQ celebrity
jaiyenyen replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News

Hi everyone Have any of you experienced Bell's Palsy? I developed it 5 days ago and it scared the <deleted> out of me because I thought I was having a stroke. Basically, the whole of the right side of my face is paralysed. The doctor was great and immediately put my mind at rest with regard to having had a stroke and confirmed that it was BP. I'm booked in for a series of physiotherapy sessions, the first was today. Electro-pulse and then heat pad to the affected side of the face. I've been looking online and it seems that things should get better after a couple of months. Can anyone give me any other suggestions? The main problems are not being able to close my eye completely, which results in a dry/sore eye, followed by problems with speech and eating. Any advice is welcome. Luckily, the nurse said I'm still a handsome man 555

How high is your blood pressure that you take medication

Madiplot gave me water retention. My legs and feet swelled up significantly. The doctor adjusted my meds and everything returned to normal. -
My wife and I had a problem with a truck we had bought. The issue couldn't be resolved between us and the dealer. We then contacted the makers head office in Bangkok and a meeting was set up between us, head office and the dealer. Still no agreement. After this we went to the Consumer Protection Board at Chaeng Watanna. Again, a meeting was set up between us and the dealer, with OCPB mediating. The dealer still didn't budge on the issue and left the meeting. The officer at OCPB suggested that we take the dealer to court and helped my wife to put our case together. On the day of the court case the dealer upped their offer to an additional 5 years free servicing including parts and labour (Worth 24,000 baht.....We were claiming 20,000), and VIP discount on any other work that needs carrying out over the 5 year period. Stick to your guns if you aren't happy. The OCPB are very sympathetic to consumer complaints. We've had the truck serviced twice at the dealership since the problem was resolved, and receive good service from them.

Black numbers against black wood? Won't that make it difficult to read?

For the past 5 years I've been drinking 1 cup when I get to my office and another at lunchtime. I've never been a really big coffee drinker. I prefer a cup of PG tips (Tea).

I have hypertension and arrhythmia, which are monitored and kept under control by my doctor. I've now decided to cut out drinking coffee. I only have 2-3 cups a day. One in the morning and one after lunch. I'd like to replace the coffee with some kind of herbal tea. I've heard that chamomile tea might be a good choice. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced tailor in Bangkok who could make me a couple of dress shirts for work? I'm around a 3XL-4XL- Euro size. I've never had shirts made before, so I have no idea about prices. Any suggestions (Apart from "Lose some weight you fat b@$%&d") would be most welcome.

Try using some of the memory foam tips. Squash them before putting them in your ear, then they expand to your ear shape and size. Failing that, as flexomike suggested......supaglue ????

My wife and I are in the same predicament with her 26 yr old son. No state help available as far as we know.

Yellow book troubles reporting to DOPA
jaiyenyen replied to Billy Bloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I managed to get both the Yellow book and the Pink card after a lot of messing about. The 1st officer my wife and I spoke to said it couldn't be done (Code for 'I don't know how to do it'). After that, we managed to speak to a female officer who was very helpful and managed to eventually supply the book and the card. One strange thing I had to supply was, an official Thai translation of my parent's names. I'm 65 hahaha. With all the problems the OP is having, I'd contact an agent and let them sort it out. -
I've never had a problem with Booking.com. Maybe they used up their allocation of rooms for those hotels. I usually also check the hotel's website before making any booking. Their room prices are often similar and on occasion, cheaper.

My problems have all been with Lex Express. I too have had the problem "We tried to deliver' etc etc, or NOT calling to say they are coming. I always pay COD and in the last month I've had 2 deliveries that want me to pay an extra 50 baht, on top of the invoice total. Next time it happens, I'll refuse it. I find it odd that on both occasions it was for 50 baht. There's no price printed on the barcode sticker. The price is written in marker pen on the side of the box.
