  1. come on glyph or whatever moniker you choose to use

do not hate the player, hate the game.........and your inability to play it

by the way, given the airport(s) is closed for the forseebale future, and the folks in red are gathering, how will that be spun in the glossy brochures?

i am sure you must have a lovely view (or soon will) of the unrest that is about to unfold from your balcony, just make sure to duck for cover (quack quack)

  2. tick tick tick......this wont help LOS ecxept to keep out all the sexpats and mongers

Fears That a Weakened British Pound May Grow Weaker

"Parity is not impossible," said Theo Casey, an investment strategist at The Fleet Street Letter, a financial newsletter that has been forecasting the collapse of the pound since August. "We are this tiny island dependent on finance and housing. We are crashing and it will continue."

Thailand on 'most dangerous' list for travellers

Thailand has made the list of the Top 20 Most Dangerous Places as compiled by the Telegraph newspaper of London.

:o The latest edition of the list puts Thailand as the seventh most-dangerous spot for travellers behind Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, South Africa, Somalia and Sudan. Thailand is said to be more dangerous than Colombia and Haiti at the moment. :D

It justifies the Thai spot on the list because of "major political demonstrations and a temporary state of emergency" at the two Bangkok airports.

It also cites the continuing demonstrations around Government House, the Cambodian-Thai fighting on the bordefr, and "civil unrest and frequent attacks" in the deep South.

The British "Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to these areas," the newspaper said.

Bingobongo, you may have enraged the "investors"in BKK, they may become even more adamant to admit their "investment" is in a place like Mogadishu or Mumbai.

Expect more flames as they continue refuse to face the reality.

Just wondering what those rejects from Spain's (who landed in Temisoara and Bangkok) real estate "professionals" are about to put up as their new sales pitch.

TTM, the only correction i have regarding your post is that at least Mogadishu and Mumbai have functioning airports, so they maybe considered "upmarket" as compared to Bangkok

but you are right, like a child who can not accept that Santa Claus does not exist, the bagholders are in deep denial

  4. seaports next, oh my?

LOS sure is determined to destroy itself, and is doing a fine job i must say

The PAD may also try to seize seaports on the Eastern Seaboard if the takeover of the airports fails to force the premier out of office, Suthi Atchasai, a PAD leader from the East, told protesters at Suvarnabhumi yesterday.

  5. very intersting topic, i think the resulte or consequence manifests itself as emotional immaturity in many Thai adults

    which is decribed as:

"Immature adults are not children nor teenagers. They are often self-centered and selfish adults. They may have little regard for others. They may be preoccupied with their own feelings and symptoms. They may demand your constant attention, sympathy and compliments. They may avoid participation if they can't have their own way or be the best. They may be obsessed with impressing people. Immature people may demand immediate gratification. They cannot wait. They may seem thoughtless and impulsive. They may be loyal only while you are useful. They have chaotic social and financial lives"

look at the table in the center of the page and you can clearly see some common Thai traits among the 8 categories such as "Does not learn from experience. Good or bad experiences are caused by luck, or fate. Little personal responsibility"

  6. I just read the RBS forecast for exchange rates and historically they have been pretty close over the years - their latest report makes grim reading however. They see GBP/USD remaining in a range of between 1.48 and 1.53 for the next two years!

I don't know how useful this is but at least it's perhaps another indicator as to the future.

That $1.48-$1.53 range will not hold near term! I agree with BB that the Pound will see the mid $1.30's vs. the Dollar by the end of Jan.-mid Feb. time frame as the BOE will need to make some more substantial rate cuts. The EU central banks will also be making more cuts, but most EU member nations are in far better shape than the U.K. so the Pound will slide further than the Euro going forward from here.

great minds think a like Vegas, good to see someone else bring some sanity to this forum

  7. Hi All.

You have got to hand it to Bingo. After much ridicule on his forcast for the SET, in the end he was 100% right, I hope he is wrong about Sterling, but I wont hold my breath.

    phupaman

thank you, i only tell it like it is

the next stop for sterling is around US$1.36 per 1 British pound (it is $1.53 as of this post), if that does not hold (which it will not given the UK central bank will keep slashing rates) parity to the US $ will happen US$1 = 1 British pound that is not a misrpint, all hel_l is going to break loose as inflation in the UK will be devastating.......get ready, its coming

additionally, you have a death cross on the $/pound chart (50 DMA moving below 200DMA), needless to say the crushing of British pound will affect LOS tourism

  8. Many of these people are in dire straits as it was the end of their holidays and they are now out of money. They can not afford to stay in Thailand any longer.

Did you really travel half way around the world and only posess / bring enough money with you to last until the last day of your holiday ?

Well you may be a millionaire but some people believe it or not save all year for 2 weeks vacation, and these types are in trouble,.there are plenty of people in the uk living from hand to mouth,is it a sin as some of you make it out to be ! jeez :o

well then you are very poor with money, if you spent your yearly savings to travel to a 3rd world country, i suggest you take a personal finance class or go back to school

the dumb deserve to be separated from their money if it helps them learn the value of that money

  9. say bye bye to the tourists, investors, and the economy

  11. for all the bagholders and deluded, i hope this helps........

If you fail to transcend conventional thinking at a time when conventional thinking is losing touch with reality, then you will be more likely to fall prey to an epidemic of disorientation that lies ahead. Disorientation breeds mistakes that could threaten your business, your investments and your way of life."-- James Dale Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg, The Sovereign Individual, 1997

  12. how will the sexpat feed his addiction?

how will the farang manager meet his quota and pay his staff?

how will the farang in the throws of a midlife crisis reconcile this new reality?

how will the traveler get his frequent flier miles with the airport(s) now a giant homeless shelter?

    oh the humanity!!!

Economic crisis sweeps deeper into Asia

  13. This is a serious situation!

We are being held hostage in Thailand.

There are thousands of people placed in hotels in and around Bangkok who are not able to leave and go back to their home countries. Many of these people are in dire straits as it was the end of their holidays and they are now out of money. They can not afford to stay in Thailand any longer. Eventhough Thai Airways are taking care of food and accomodation, stranded passengers still need to contact work, home and relatives but this has to be on own expense. Many have to go back to work.

We were told this morning that it will take at least ten days before people will be able to go home. We can not wait that long. This situation is destroying lives.

This is an urgent call for the press to get involved so that International help can be called upon. If you have contact with the press, please get in touch. We are stranded at the Ambasador City Hotel in Pattaya. Around 10 different nationalities are involved. Please help us get home.

the fact that you have internet access and posting on ThaiVisa says you can contact them yourself

why dont you get some pictures with your camera phone and forward them to the news agencies?

besides, you must have plenty of free time at the hotel
