I'm not sure he made a dime off any of us.  I never paid a satang.  He did make a bunch of money from businesses who wanted to advertise to us.  But that's not the same.  They're supposed to know what they're paying for.

It is because of "us" he made his money.  If he had no hits from "us" he could not have influenced the businesses to advertise on his site and pay him.  Therefore it is indeed due to "us" that he made his money, lots of it.

    I think you're right.

All the important lessons were learned in Vietnam.

They couldn't believe otherwise. They couldn't be that stupid.

Actually the thing is they understood eventually what lessons should have be learned from Vietnam.  The problem is they just choose not to remember what they should have learnt.  Hence the mess in every country they interfere in

My Mother  always used to say to me that we are living in crazy times and that the world has gone mad, yet she was alive during WW2 and the world was at its maddest.

I think everyone like to look back and think it was better before, maybe just to make them happy.

I've been coming to Thailand for 12 years and i haven't really noticed any difference if i'm been honest.

I actually think some things have got better, pattaya for one is actually cleaner and i'm bringing my kids there in Feb as their is lots to do for families, even the beach is cleaner and with no ladyboys hanging around

its safer. I wouldn't have thought that 12 years ago.

Anyway i've heard this stickman retiring story many times before, i'm sure he'll pop back up again somewhere

Stickman has made enough money from the gullible and socially naïve,  predominantly expats and visitors here in Thailand, that he should just retire gracefully so the world and the fools encapsulated by his bias can forget him.

When this charge was announced, there was discussion that he had to surrender his passport. I am not sure what the court's decision on that was. I recall his defence's argument was that he was South East Asia correspondent and needed to travel to other countries.

But Head is part of the law-respecting mainstream media. It would be a big decision to flee the country to avoid this case. I would not expect that so I don't think you can say he is "very confident" simply because he didn't flee.

Also the point of these cases is often to stop further digging by journalists. The lawyer who brought the case is just the front man for a network involving Land Registry officials, Phuket police and money lenders. They don't want anybody investigating them. It is not all about a guilty or not guilty verdict.

and it will expose not just Phuket to corruption but the whole of Thailand so bring it on

Being harassed in their homes, on the phone, troops in their streets, public transport stopped, road blocks and if they step on a Bangkok footpath they will be arrested.  Definately squashing human rights, bringing the country together and restoring happiness.  Definately indicates that the military junta have made their verdict of guilty.

Slitting somebody's throat is an odd reaction even when enraged. It suggests a calculated murder from an individual who is familiar with using a knife on living things. Where did the knife materialise from in the first place if not on the killer's person. Why bring a knife to a tryst? I think the excuse is fabricated. I think the murder was at least partially conceived before he even got on the bus.

Not for Thai males it isn't ( an odd reaction).  Quite a common genetic disorder due to Thais proclivity to inbreeding. Psychosis and  inability to meet responsibility are a common trait from the rich down to the poor.

ahh didn't take long for that tired of trope to come out. One that has be debunked many times.

And hey here is a novel idea, lets stop invading, bombing and interfering with other countries and maybe we wouldn't have so many refugees knocking around, funny that.

Unfortunately that is a totally irrelevant concept you have, but hey never mind  there are so many people currently in denial,  so you are not alone.

    Soi 3 Suk... Bangkok.

I think the fact the OP said "China Mai" he was really meaning and enquiring about Chiang Mai,  but I could be wrong  so perhaps  you know of  a new area in Bangkok called China Mai.

  9. Why not just upgrade from your current 55 watt to 100 watt 6000 k.  You will get a brighter light  and focus in line with your current reflector design. And much cheaper. ( around 450 to 550 baht for a decent make per pair ).  However also get your beams checked and adjusted if necessary, (something 98%  Thais  never do)  so avoiding the risk of dazzling oncoming traffic.

I have lived here for a while and I try to share this planet with the rest of humanity. I do not think I am special that others have to do things to suit me. I find motorcyclists using the sidewalks to be polite and courteous for the most part.  They are no worse than cyclists using the sidewalk or guys on skateboards or those one wheeled electric thingies.

Surely one of the reasons we came here was to embrace diversity, in all its forms.

Well if you think endangering pedestrians, especially young children, by riding anything on a pavement is a good idea then I am afraid you belong to a different world because frankly if you came here to do that then well you must have a very strange and distorted viewpoint on how to protect humanity.

You seem a sad person with sad ideals if you enjoy that as part of your adopted new lifestyle.

I will wager you have not been there. First, during daylight you must ride a min of 1km to even find a place to park. When the ฿5000 fine was posted i started parking at Terminal 21 which required riding about 2 km to the nearest (illegal) turnaround on Sukhumvit then 2km back just to park. Yes, late night taxis and bikes park in the street but thats not possible in the day. Now I use the MRT. Oh and incedently I have never heard of a pedestrian injured by a person walking a motorbike on a sidewalk more less riding. But the fine was for parking not riding.

I lived near there for 6 years and people like yourselves were a danger and still are to everyone. Just totally selfish because you are too lazy to walk.

Wait until someone gets their rear end kicked for taking a photo. Or people remove license plates.

I used to ride my bike on the corner of Sukhumvit @ asok to park my bike while using the ATM at Citibank. The sidewalk was over 10 feet wide. Now I see there is a ฿5000 fine. There is no MC parking in the building.

Guess like most motorcyclist in this country you are just too plain lazy to walk 100 metres or less.   Still carry on being a danger to pedestrians.  TIT

    first ;I was thinking,its a joke.

I am a professional in these matters. Just the idea, that someone at 80 or above (!) is still able to drive a car- sorry it is - how to say- it is not clever and best  ,because one just dont know.

the most important skills, you need to drive a car, are getting worth, starting at about 20 !

with 80, your visus (ability to look) normally is highly  limited.

your reaction time, f.e. how much time you need from having the reason for braking in front of you and  your actual reaction is much much longer.

it is like: when a 18 years old , needs 30 meters to stop the car. a 80 year old would need 60 meters.

especially the ability to see in the dark is limited.

the ability to react in complex situations  ( heavy traffic, unusual circumstances, ...) is very limited. These are the common situations, in which accidents occur.

That you can drive a car in easy situations, lets say in your normal daily ways, doesnt mean, you are still fir for driving.

When do you want to stop? when your next heavy accident will happen?

This may be your first dramatic accident in your life. You want to wait till it will happen.

Pleas do yourself and us a favour and choose a more adequate Place of living. You wait much too long for this.

Good chance, you feel  too old, too handicaped to move to a different place.

But you think, you are still able to drive a car.

I think it is you that  is a joke or more apt just trolling based on you diatribe of incompetent understanding. but never mind, fortunately for you many of us aged have a better level of common sense and understanding to fellow drivers then you have clearly shown.

For your information, there have been farangs who have been killed in BKK in past years after/when getting run over from behind by speeding motorcyclists on the sidewalks. And, just the other day in one of the threads on this subject, a poster here mentioned having been run down from behind and having both kneecaps broken by a sidewalk motorcyclist along Silom Road.

So frankly, if reporting these lawbreakers who endanger those around them would help put a stop to this dangerous practice, I'd do it for free. The reward is just an added bonus.

The area where I live in BKK constantly has motorcyclists riding down the sidewalks, particularly along Sukhumvit Road during rush hours. Anything that helps put a stop to that is a good move in my book, reward or no reward.

Excellent idea and you should get a national award , something like the Order of the Pink Elephant if anybody reports 1000 infringements or more a year.   Should do this throughout Thailand. Also for drivers on the hard shoulder and speeding.
