Isan is a nice place to live and settle into a community because the people are so nice and it is relatively cheap. However, just traveling around as a tourist, without hanging around enough to get immersed in the lifestyle, could be a bit tedious. There are better parts of Thailand to tour.

What is a Lincy  doing in Thailand ?

So you have never met me but after my failure of my mountain rescue school when I worked in Holland in the 1970's,   then my disastrous venture of a Boston ski slope  and more recently my cross country skiing school in Udon Thani, I am surprised our paths have not crossed .  However apart from these ventures what to do and see in Issan is very dependant upon exactly what your interests  are ?

I don't Thais are as stupid as others.

That is a nonsense statement. Do you mean I don't know but think Thais are as stupid as others ?   In any event the Junta will go to whatever lengths to ensure contracts are signed, for whatever, in order that they get their 30% skim of the contract into their offshore bank accounts.  Whilst time may be running out for them I don't think even the Junta would press for nuclear weapons as they know , or should know that due to the timescales involved  they will have been cast aside  long before contract signing  so hence no skimming  for them.  As an example the PM has been pushing pushing pushing for the Chinese financial agreement for the railway upgrades as he knows time is running out for him in power and by association the potential possibility of the offshore account balance upgrade to not succeed.

Good news for Thailand and it's tourism. This is evidence that Thailand continues to move forward and further develop it's economic stability within the region, with ongoing contracts such as the Bombardair monorail, China-Thai HSR, Nth Thailand highway expansion, and many more.

Well done Thailand, and well done Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha.

And you got paid for writing this piece of total rubbish or,

you have family associated with the Junta and their backers or

You are living on another planet ?

Because clearly you are not living in the reality of what is called Thailand with a military backed dictatorship in power

or else you are just trolling

One would think that, being resident in the US, they would have a more intelligent idea of how things work there. Usually with issues in mind such as safety, something that isn't normally factored into Thai thinking.

You can not teach common sense, people are born with it ,  or not as the case may be with most Thais.

  5. Needs to be an English  language web site for reporting these with an automatic response registering the offence, time date etc and a case number that is traceable to the conviction status or otherwise.  Well guess that will never happen has the wording is "that leads to a conviction".   You can kill people in this country and guess what ? The Red Bull worm as one example of the law being disregarded by the self same people entrusted to uphold it.

Idiots like this are a dreadful example of Thai people. They are akin to trailer trash who think that by having some money and status in Thailand means they can do as they do back home while holidaying in America or wherever they go.

Their reaction when confronted here shows clearly that they knew they were in the wrong, but by being beligerrent en masse their accuser would back off.

It'd be interesting to see if any more comes of this. I hope some more face lost at the very least

Thais who can afford these holidays are HISOs and as you say "trailer trash" . They think that they can carry on ignoring rules and regulations as they do in their own country given ,  in their immoral minds, they have money so can do want they want.  These are probably the same people who are expecting some US guys to recover the bodies of the other Thai idiots who drove off a ravine .  Don't know what the maximum penalty is but they should get it.  Have their passports stamped as persona non grata and shipped back to Thailand with a placard around their necks saying we are stupid Thais.  Losing face is all these dick heads understand as fines mean nothing to them.

  7. " The car inexplicably drove down the wrong side of the road".    Really ? the car does not drive anywhere without a driver.  Nothing inexplicable about a Thai driver who is not alert .  Just normal.  Maybe too much to drink at the funeral or even just a little drink and become drowsy and lost attention. Having said that it appeared to be  a high speed impact looking at the damage so were there two issues here perhaps ? The car driver on the wrong side plus perhaps a van driver driving far too fast as they usually do ?

Shouldn't being rescuer team member mean you took this job with all risks attached?

For example by coal mines theres rescue teams, when something blows under, tumble, ppl are trapped, they go right away, no matter what, thats whats they are paid for.

No it certainly does not  - are you Thai ?

All risks should be assessed before carrying out any task.  If the risk can not be mitigated and it is assessed as a danger to life then irrespective of your occupation it should not be carried out.  But I guess Thais,  having no fundamental grasp of safety basics, are clueless so hence for them; so what if 10 Americans die in the process of recovering bodies.

Now that the PM has been warned by experts that his policies might not work, will he be liable for a criminal charge of negligence if there are further floods in Thailand? And if so, will his assets be confiscated?

    Just askin'

The jurisdiction of the Thai courts does not extend to the British Virgin Islands so the billions of baht there will be quite safe

Go back to Farangland expecting to be a princess

End up living in a dump with the socially inadequate man who had to go to Thailand for a wife

Scrimp and save and get a job at the local Thai tug shop or Thai restaurant

Meet other Thai girls and go out partying once or twice a month

Get bulled senseless by some local young farangs

Eventually become bored of your marriage to old man Gary in Coventry

.... and here's what the course is really teaching: Get a decent divorce settlement and return to Thailand with enough cash for a piece of land and to take care of the family

I think that is a bit of a cynical view but none the less I hope the course also explains that they will not be expected to sit on their back sides all day in the house.  They will be expected to conform to traditional married life and that will entail, cleaning the house ( a complete mystery to any Thai),   cooking for the family ( well they may have done that before) and washing and ironing ( another mystery as Thais think that should be done by the surfs.

  11. Ehm,  well in 1977 life was not too good in Thailand after the student massacre the year before.   Local Thais were saying to me at that time they did not know what their country was turning into.  50 years later still relatively safe for a farang but it appears as more and more Thais  are being persecuted,  banged in jail or whatever than in the 1970's it is fast becoming a state of uncertainty and fear that has not really moved on much.

  12. There  is a restaurant in China who hit the headlines a few days back by offering discounts to female customers depending upon their breast size.  This would make a good basis in my opinion for providing wives with a percentage of your income.   The bigger they are then they deserve more of an income percentage. Frankly a 38 FF should be entitled to a big percentage.  For me just like to find one !!!!

Seems like the good people of Salt Lake City are suckers for a sob story, given the amount of money he has in the case.

Do you mean the level of hypocrisy from PTP? Paying 50 to 100% above market price, storing it for years while paying storage fees, and then have the hide to complain it is being sold at a loss, really takes some beating, doesn't it.

You Junta apologists always seem to distort the topic off track.  Never mind .
