  1. Few years ago used LK Metropole and ended up in Bangkok Hospital, got back to UK went for a vision test and my readings had changed from 3 months earlier! Wear goggles and be safe.

I stayed at LK Metropole, great swimming pool ,no problem ,... but yes to avoid Hospital visit , wear whatever is needed and be safe ... also outside the pool ...

  2. Last month I booked the last flight from CM to BKK with Airasia arrive BKK 23h30. My corresponding flight to Euope with China Air was 03h15 , so plenty of time. At CM they announced my flight was delayed 2 hours , so maybe I was in trouble for my corresponding flight, and I told the girl at the check in about this. As Airasia is a point-to-point flight, they are not responsible for connecting flights. I accepted this and just sat there waiting for the plane to arrive. After 1 hour the girl fron Airasia came to find me and explained that the plane would arrive within the next hour, and that I would get a priority seat in front (so that is what they are for!) and they would do everything possible to get me on the connecting flight in time. She also had called ChinaAir to be prepared for a late passenger. Arrive BKK , they unloaded my luggage seperatly just after the plane landed, and instead of having to wait for ther bus, they had arranged a private car - with flashing light- to drive me as a VIP to the deaprtue hall of ChinaAir.

  3. I don't know if I should chime in, since I am not even married (yet). But what I am seeing on TV is that alot of people are very happily married to a Thai (bar girl or not). The same people on TV who post about having a happy marriage in Thailand, are, interestingly some of the more intelligent posters on this forum. The people who complain about how psychotic their Thai wives/GF's are, how they got ripped off, or how they are going to dump their falang wife of 30 years and move in with a Thai girl who they have known for a week and who is 20 years younger then them, are generally posters who are new to this forum, and whose posts demonstrate a lack of proper English grammar or education. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Sorry my english is not that good , submaniac (nomen sit omen !) , I thought this forum is international, and small mistakes can be accepted , but if you prefer to continue in french, dutch, german , italian , or even latin , I will galdly reply

  4. The new IBIS Hotel on Soi 4 Nana, about 400 m from Sukhumvit and Nana Placa, offers rooms for 1.200.- Bhat, best booked in Internet and has a nice car park.

Inside and outside parking free for guests. Just opened in March 2009 I think.

Grand Business Inn rooms 1.600.- B. and Business Inn Rooms starting 600 or 800 B. Sukuhmvit Soi 11/1 have parking space on the road in front of their Hotel, so not really what you are looking for I think.

Manhatten Hotel, price around 1.500.- B. Sukhumvit Soi 15 has also limited Parking space near the entrance.

    Regards Alfred

  5. Only use the web-prices as an indication, better to visit the dealer in your area and discuss about discount and options they throw in. Even better is to let your G/F or wife or a Thai relative do this for you, and only show up when you have decided, and then squeeze another 5 % out of the deal.

    It always works, good luck

  6. I will soon be buying a new pickup, and since my wife will drive it most of the time I think of an automatic. Now she drives a 25 year old 3 litre petrol Nissan and only shifts gear untill the engine almost drops dead. I feel so much pity on this engine, but it must be bullet proof since it now has 300K kms and still runs perfect.

I doubt if the newer engines will stand this torture such a long time so the solution may be an automatic.

I know the advantage of an automatic in the city, but most of the kms we do are in the mountain roads in the north.

In Europe I drive a BMW steptronic automatic, and this gearbox is so very intelligent , I even never have had the need to switch to manual steptronic. On mountain roads it knows exactly when to switch gear , or keep same gear in extreme situations, like taking over a truck.

Now my question is: how "intelligent" are the pickup automatics , like the Vigo or the Dmax. Or are they just mechanically driven , and unexpectidly shift gear when they are not supposed to , in situations like overtaking a bus (this is ofcourse hypothetical !!!) or going down hill and loosing power brake .

    Thanks for your advice.

  7. Has anyone ever bought a car (truck) from a Tent dealer?

I know more or less what to check to find out if the car has had an accident, or how many kms it really has run, but how about the paper work , do they take care of , and as these are second hand cars , how about the number plate ?

Why do they never mention the kms on the ad's ? (like one2car) , not that this is important, just curious

it safe to pay cash in advance , if so how much ?

how much discount can be bargained for ?

  8. I hope you can sell the bike, but if not , and therefore cannot buy a new one in Belgium , my Pan Europe is for sale , registered in Belgium, and with all paperwork included!

No need to fear the cold winter here, it has handlebar heaters, and besides, winters are not as they used to be. I drove all winter with absolutely no problem.

I am selling because move to Thailand :opost-41404-1173211545_thumb.jpg
