Report Temple Highlights Bangkok's Vulnerability to Rising Sea Levels
edwinchester replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I believe the evidence for climate change and consequent sea level rise is well proven.....however an annual rise in sealevel of 5.8 cms is absolutely BS. That is a rise of close to one and a half metres by 2050. Whoever wrote the article had next to no idea of what they were writing about to blindly include that figure. -

Report Thais Say No to Casinos: Majority Stand Against Complexes
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There are more than 50 million people older than 18 years living in Thailand. A poll of only 1310 of those people being asked loaded questions is absolutely unrepresentative of the true support or lack of support for this project. As an observation wifeys sister is a right wing monarchist, can't say any more than that. She belongs to a group, some would call it a cult, vehemently opposed to Taksin and this casino project but come the 1st and 16th of every month they are all buying their lottery tickets and playing the local mafia run lotto. Ask the 'right' question in any poll and you can get any result you want. -

Last time I took my Thai motorcycle into Malaysia it didn't need a numberplate unlike my car which needed a Malaysian plate in the form of a temporary sticker. -

From the plate on his motorcycle I'd say he's Malaysian. -
No wonder there are so many boundary disputes if they're using 1:200,000 and 1:50,000 scale mapping to determine where a boundary is. Generalisation of detail because of the small scale make boundary positioning next to impossible. When I was a draughtsman/surveyor back in the UK we used 1:1250 and 1:2500 mapping to show a boundary's position.

I wonder how many Thai Govt Officials who were involved in the import and registration of this car have also been prosecuted alongside 'Boy Unity'.

Perhaps if the vehicle was designed to carry many passengers in the first place with side impact protection, forward facing seats with belts then just maybe there wouldn't have been so many serious injuries. Life is certainly cheap here and nobody with the power to do something about it seems to give a <deleted>.

Report Thai Oil Implements Emergency Response After Sriracha Oil Spill
edwinchester replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
A leak of 10000 litres of crude oil will spread over hundreds of square metres not 10 sq metres due to the thin film it will form on the water surface. -
"The project will involve a proposed estimated investment of 1.34 trillion baht and is hoped to be completed by 2030." The Bangkok to Kanchanaburi motorway has been 11 years in the making and still not finished. Five years for a complete city? I want whatever the committee who dreamt up that timescale is inhaling.

Economy The Thai Baht Paradox: Currency Climbs as Economy Falters
edwinchester replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Considering how much the US Govt intends to borrow to fund the massive tax cuts for the richest 1% I'm not surprised the dollar is headed down. Couple that with foreign nations holding back on their US investment as nobody has a clue on what Trump may do next as well as selling their US debt then the US economy is not in a good place for the foreseeable future.- 101 replies
