Many retired foreigners (mostly oldsters with limited finances) take this view - essentially that they are nobly bolstering the rural economy with purchase of pick up trucks, motor cycles, houses for their partners, and of course the endless flow of their pensions and savings. They believe this is somehow a significant contribution to the Thai economy. It really isn't and certainly the Thai authorities do not regard it as such.
My pension is significantly more than the 50k bht income required for a smart visa.

"Eligibility for this visa requires a level of commitment to the local economy"
Which appears to be exactly what those on marriage and retirement extensions do year after year so why not, at the very least, extend the doing away of 90 day reporting for this group as it has been for those with the Smart Visa?

"Phopthorn Kittikunkongprai, a teacher travelling with them, documented the ordeal on social media."
Must be more entertaining than the endless meals of somtam, phad krapow, guay teow, tom yung goong etc documented on Facebook by wifeys friends.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Japanese manufacturer's returning some production back to Japan as they're all in dire financial trouble. Mitsubishi is pulling out of the world's biggest car market, China, and Toyota has run down production there significantly.

Bit like the Brits on the Costa del Sol who live on fry ups, fish and chips, bangers and mash, steak and kidney pies and can't talk the lingo.

So in 10 months time is a new PM chosen by just the 500 elected members of parliament or will there be another batch of 250 appointed senators in the mix?

Thanks very much for the prompt replies.
I'll ask at my Immigration Office next time in town and see what they say and will post whatever they suggest here too.

OP, which immigration office.
Some allow you apply for extension 45 days prior to expiry.
If you prefer to do the extension after return (safest idea) you buy a reentry permit.
Can be obtained at immigration office or airport at departure.
My local office is Kanchanaburi.

Hi, I am currently on an Extension of Stay based on marriage to a Thai which is due for renewal November 11th.
I have a trip back to the UK on October 20th returning to Thailand October 30th.
Is it correct that I will need a re-entry permit before flying back to the UK or is it possible to apply for the extension before I fly back to the UK?
Thanks for reading.

So they receive an sms to get instructions from a Line account to install further software. Nobody deserves to be scammed but anyone who falls for this is a little short of grey matter up top.

Whilst this nonsense continues nothing will improve on Thai roads.

Seriously how much does it cost to airfreight a coffee tin full of ashes these days ?
If any family member of mine died on that island I'd want an intact body returned home for a proper autopsy not just one that says 'heart stopped'.

Owning watches is not prohibited. Owning media shares is.
The watches are complete legal unless someone can proof any corruption.
Of course I also believe that it is corruption....but getting an expensive watch is really a minor thing within the usual corruption in politics with 10% usually for every military purchase...
ITV last broadcast in 2007, it's a media company in absolutely nothing but name especially when it's license was taken away.

EV's are probably best suited to commuting in congested cities like Bangkok. Unfortunately, huge swathes of the commuters live in condos where it's difficult to charge them overnight.
I say this as an owner of an electric mountain bike and a Hybrid Toyota so I am not anti EV, I just think fully Electric vehicles have a lot of drawbacks for many people. My car does 1000 kms on a tank and can be recharged (refueled) in a minute. I don't even need to exit the vehicle to do so. EV's are still a long way off that.
I use my ev for the school run in rural Thailand 120kms per day. Cost of fuel has gone from 300 bht a day in my pickup down to 90 bht a day in my ev. Ev gets topped up overnight every other day. Wish I'd bought it a couple of years ago as it's great.

Brutal Debt Collection: Pork Seller shot in the Face
in Isaan News

Now I'm confused....the OP says Woranat, the borrower, shot Sa-at the lender, yet the Thaiger article says Wanna was the lender and shot Sa-ad the borrower.
Sloppy reporting all round really.
