  1. fans will turn on him

without doubt the most fickle unloyal fans in the world

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

    u must be a mackem

Kevin Keegan, hey? You couldn't make it up! The feeling of adrenaline I felt when a colleague broke the news to me surged through my body like a David Ginola through-ball.

And that surprised me. Thoughts of Didier Deschamps and Gerard Houllier were what had got my blood pumping. Continental coaches with bags of European experience. Keegan? Pah, it will never work I thought. The game has moved on since Keegan led us all on a merry waltz up the Premier League over ten years ago.

It took today's announcement to realise I had let my brain rule my heart for too long. Keegan. His name in the same sentence as 'Newcastle' causes goosebumps to break out over my arms. Just say it. Keegan. Magic.

The quality of players he brought to our doorstep were simply magnificent. You didn't need bags of European experience to know that Ginola could cross a ball, that Asprilla had an extraordinary gift, that Peter Beardsley could shimmy like Travolta or that Alan Shearer was a bit handy in front of goal.

Allardyce had bags of experience. So did Souness and Dalglish. It got us nowhere. What they lacked, Keegan had in abundance.

It was inspiration, pure and simple. He could inspire. Players got excited, fans got excited, the media got excited, and the opposition fans got excited. They were exciting times.

Can he excite us again? Who knows? But the thought of going into the unknown is ultimately more exciting than the thought of a team led by the likes of Harry Redknapp and Mark Hughes. These are good managers. But they don't cause the adrenaline to flow.

The sight of Robert Lee scoring a hat-trick of headers against Antwerp away from home, Shearer scoring a hat-trick in 13 minutes against Leicester, Beardsley unleashing a 30-yard thunderbolt into the top corner against Norwich, Manchester United humiliated 5-0 at home, and Andy Cole scoring 41 times in his first season in the Premier League. A better player when he went to Manchester United? Never.

And Ginola's volley against Ferencvaros? Despite what Match of the Day thought, Zola and Beckham never scored better goals than that one in the 1996/97 season.

There will probably be accusations of Keegan being tactically naive floating around on the web right now, but how tactically naive can you be by finishing 2nd in the League? How bad can your defence be when you only concede two more goals than champions Manchester United in 1996?

If having a 'scientific approach' to football is hoofing the ball 50 yards to a big man, I'll take tactical naivety everytime.

It's been a long time since the feelgood factor was at St James' Park. It's been all downhill ever since Craig Bellamy scored that sensational winner against Feyenoord in 2002.

Yet it has taken Keegan just 30 seconds to make me anticipate, rather than dread, the rest of the season.

Welcome Back King Kev. You've been missed.

  2. So is it a good idea to buy gold? Gold always seems to keep it's value--any thoughts?

Its not the gold you should buy but shares in the gold companies 1998 most mines in africa were producing gold at around $199- $250 most shut up shop when the gold fell.

mines are opening again with the reserves already proven and they are producing at roughly the same price.

bugs me to say this but look at the smaller aussie companies.

inside info has the gold hitting $1000 troy ounce by end of march

100 DSI, police officers raid Koh Samui, arrest Briton

Koh Samui, Surat Thani: -- A team of 100 officers from the Crime Suppression Division, Anti-Money Laundering Office and Department of Investigation raided this tourist destination island Tuesday morning and arrested a Briton and three Thais.

The Briton, Peter Watkinjones, 40, was accused of leading a multinational mafia gang which bribed land officials to gain access to public land on the island for sale to foreigners.

The officers, divided into small teams, raided ten spots to try to arrest seven members of the so-called Bandidos gang.

DSI spokesman Pol Col Dussadee Arayawutthi said the three Thai men were identified as Pramual Somwong, a land official, and two ordinary people - Samroeng Buanak and Prateep Muangkaew.

He said a Briton and two Danish men were still elusive.

He said the seven were suspected of using influence to pressure local businesses and people to sell business and land to them and they paid bribe to land officials to use land documents elsewhere to forge ownership of public land on the island and sold them to foreigners at steep prices.

Dussadee said the sale contracts were undervalued as the buyers paid the rest of the money to the gang abroad.

inappropriate web content so cant read but why was he arrested in the first place , the mib must have some sort of evidence against him in the first place.

  8. Aussies just can't handle booze.

They should stay away from it.

They usually drink Fosters, so no probs

    :o:D:D

Actually you'll be hard pressed to find an Aussie anywhere who drinks Fosters.

Fosters is the rubbish left over from brewing the good stuff which we keep to ourselves. :D:D:bah:

what like VB! dross like that u can keep

here there hard keeped to drink water befor their crying to go home whinging bl##dy aussies

  9. Deciding to kill somebody is a unique decision.

Being against the death penalty does not make me an anarchist.

European countries have removed this shameful punishment.

They have not fallen into chaos.

I would feel much safer on a typical European street than an American one despite their eagerness to execute in many states.

would you make that unique decision if a member of your family were to be raped or murdered

  10. Rescue workers used an excavator that was working nearby to clear the grass from the roadside, but the machine broke down - an incident that villagers attributed to the malevolence of the snakes. With the cobras presumably looking balefully on from the encroaching woodlands, work ceased for the day.

Better not show this to my Plant Manager - he'd use the excuse for the rest of the project.

so thats what happened to my RH 120 yesterday

  11. Disagree with the sleaze factor, but different reasons for everyone.... I personally like being near the water/beach. Tis a beach resort after all and I like to stick to that sort of environment when having a few drinks. Open Air and outdoors for the most part. If I want a pub atmosphere, franky I'd go back to blighty for that.

What they doing with the old location????

agree totaly with the beach, sleaze its there if you want it if you dont stay away simple. try to keep away from expats while on leave, 10 weeks at atime in the bush eating drinking and working with expats 24hrs a day just gets a tad toooo much so i for one wont be in shenanighans simple.

to all of you out there if you like the old style pub theme why dont you stay at home simple! sure patters could manage with out you.

  12. Maybe I am missing something, but how can anyone be so stupid as to believe they have won a prize from a scheme they have not even participated in? Seriously, how can people be so fooled?

People do, amazingly, fall for these :o

I had a mail from an Indian collegue who had a friend who had fallen for one of the 'British lottery' scams (a standard pre-payment scam) and had sent a considerable (very considerable to them) sum by one of the money transfer systems, of course the scammer is now asking for more for 'additional paperwork'. I felt really awful telling this chap that his life savings was most likely beyond recovery :D

you'd be supprised even nigerians fall for it.

419 being the # for the act of parliment for the dealings of fraudulent acts (not supprisingly by goverment ministers)

  13. QUOTE(November Rain @ 2007-07-22 17:09:05) post_snapback.gifYou're 19, but you make enough to rent a 100,000bt a month flat? Didn't you say in previous posts you had a girlfriend? Keep watching that television, it's certainly giving you some entertaining plotlines... :o
