I think it's Cute the way non Americans take an active interest in the US.

You think it's Cute that non-Americans take an active interest in the USA?

Cute is not the word that I would use..

Anyone who is aware of the current state of American politics would consider it mandatory to take a keen interest in American politics. America has not been so polarized since the Civil War. If we were talking about Liechtenstein your bemusement would be understandable...

  2. I think Lacessit returned the money immediately. He said he noticed just after leaving...

So he just wants to know how many respondents are heartless with a dishonest streak in them. I say heartless because anyone here longer than a short vacation knows the employee gets stuck covering the shortage...

Me, I'm turning on my heel and heading back to return the money. It's a bonus if she's cute and sees that I'm jaidee and worthy of buying her lunch!  ????

I said no such thing........ I said may incur.

however it appears you headline refers to boats bought in Thailand - this is a pre=owned boat.

I also referred to the other regulations involved in using a foreign boat in Thai waters.

    What?

Both headlines refer to importing/bringing your boat to Thailand..

And once it's here its going to be registered here. Not a foreign rego. That's a different scenario with it's relevant conditions.. i.e. time in country limited.

La-Z-Boy tells me that their factory is located in Chonburi province, so I don't know if the situation has changed since you bought yours, or if they're not being honest with me.  I also haven't looked into Office Mate at all about having them provide me a recliner.  Can I ask when you bought yours?

They do have their factory in Chonburi  (unless recently closed) ..

When I complained about my office chair they offered the option to re-cover at their factory. 6000+ Baht, one to two months. I declined the (not) generous offer..

Don't know how many times I have to say it, but the ones bought at Mr DIY, Big C or 7/11 are expensive for what they are. Same as if you were asked to pay 200 baht for a box of matches, Capiche?

    Come on.. $6 expensive?

Perhaps you wouldn't have to explain/defend yourself so often if you had written this a topic header..

Why are cheap earbuds such <deleted>?

Thai's will be saying they invented that, first in the world

    Only the in-house dining part..

I just finished reading a Guardian article about Gate Gourmet in Australia, one of the world's largest airline caterers.

30,000 meals a day/21 airlines usually. Now almost no flights. They are selling frozen meals out of their warehouses (3) for A$2.00 each.

Leather is great. But hard to find real leather here. They often use a PVC/leather mix. Low quality. Real leather is expensive.

Are any of your La-z boys electric, or manual? Have always wondered how reliable the electric recliners are, long term?

The office chair is, as noted, 100% leather. Bonded leather though. Short version is pieces of leather ground, mashed and pressed. So can be sold as 100% leather, but not contiguous piece of hide. Of course not electric.

the recliners are manual lever action.

  8. I have 3 LA-Z-Boy chairs.

2 are fabric-covered recliners. They are 13 years old now. When new I sprayed them with Scotch Guard fabric protector. Once. Later found out it should be reapplied regularly foe best effect. Still look and feel good but a little soiled on the seat and head area cushion. I'm pretty sure those fabric shampoo products would clean them up..

20,000 Baht each. Best part is I bought on sale. 50% off, so 2 for 1.

Third chair is a leather office chair. Sold as 100% leather but on checking later, I discovered it's bonded leather. That's not the same..

The arms, area where your back rests, and seat cushion area all started de-laminating after 13 months. The back side of the chair is perfect. I called Head Office to invoke the 5 year warranty and was told upholstery is only covered for a year. Not happy. It's now covered with near matching cloth tape.

I'm now thinking to recover in fabric. Harder wearing office type fabric, if such can be sourced.

Conclusion.. fabric in Thailand is ok. Leather is not ok.

  9. I'm one of the people who jumped out of my chair and rushed off to Pattaya Immigration.

I had thought I only had to do it before September 26th and had read nothing to the contrary. It was not busy at all, very few people. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes from entering the building.  Hmmm...

Until coming back to this thread I had been quite pleased with my luck in having seen this "notice" and avoided the 2000 Baht fine. I had already begun planning how I was going to spend this "found" money.

Imagine my disappointment to realize that stress relief is going to have to come from General Revenue..

  10. I highly doubt any vaccine, for anything, will ever be mandatory for the citizens of any country.

OTOH, good luck getting or keeping a job. No foreign travel, such as it might be in the future. Many types of insurance etc. Peer pressure and increasing inconvenience will do the trick.

I clearly remember having to carry proof of inoculation against yellow fever in order to enter India in the early '70's. No booklet, no entry.

"not complying".      what is that emblem on their helmets ?   looks a lot like the msft logo    hmmmm

Oh Oh... You might have to change your name to runitnoi..

They are studying this conspiracy mindset. Seems some people get a thrill thinking they are looking behind the curtain and seeing what everybody else is missing..

  12. Good luck.. After viewing youtube vids on replacing pads, scouring sites like you are probabaly looking at, I gave up and tossed 2 set of very good headphones. Even at the Denon shop their fixit guy said he just tosses his own away after they start flaking all over your head and shoulders.

It's the climate. These headphones were in an air-conditioned room 12 hours a day. Did not stop them going bad.

For me, I now stick to in ear monitors.

But again, good luck if you proceed.

  13. Wow.. tough crowd here.  These drivers are hustling on every delivery because their job is the very definition of piece-work compensation, a wage structure always tilted in favour of the employer.

I ordered through Grab Food a couple of days ago. The restaurant was 6.7km from me. Delivery charge was 19 baht.

    Also..

These food delivery apps are unprofitable world-wide and are burning through cash. I doubt the business model is sustainable long term. Another disrupt-er disrupted, same as AirBNB. Who is going to want to live and sleep in a property maintained by a private individual given the necessary labour input to maintain a covid-free environment?
