  1. North Battleford, but more likely, Regina, have chat friend there.

East of Regina, almost in Manitoba. Ask your friend if he knows where the Potash Interpretative Centre is.

  2. Small mining village or city.. :o

    LaoPo

Somewhere in between, but hard to tell the difference on the prairies. They call themselves a town and a nearby mine is the main industry. Grain is also an industry as it is on a main railroad. They even have an airport, which doesn't prevent it from being extremely boring.

  3. JxP,

The details on the flexible rubber magnetic material can be found here.

Different thicknesses are available and as metal prices have changed so much in the last year, it would be best to get current prices directly from them.

    Hope this helps.

    No luck with these guys?

  4. Probably the second biggest city in Tunisia. Can't make it any easier than that!

    Sfax....*

I heard about a lot of cities but have to admit I never heard about this one before... :D

    * Sfax (Arabic: صفاقس‎, Safaqis, or /sfa:qs/ in Tunisian Arabic, whence the French name) is a city in Tunisia, located 270 km southeast of Tunis. The city, founded in AD 849 on the ruins of Taparura and Thaenae, is the capital of the Sfax governorate, and a Mediterranean port on the Gulf of Gabes. Sfax has population of 340,000 (2005), and is an industrial center for processing phosphates. The city is often described as Tunisia's Second city, because only Tunis has more inhabitants.

But...here it says that Sfax has a population of 881.000....so, it grew fast in 1 year ........ :o ?

Sfax is correct. I haven't been there for over 20 years so can't make any guesses on present population. Quite a nice place. Over to you LaoPo.

  5. Banghazi - Libya ?

    LaoPo

You are correct on the north African part but not Libya. It was one of the ports used by the Barbary Pirates. Here's another photo of the same city showing some flags which should help:

  6. I need to rent a house or a condo in Lampang. Can somebody help?

    WCA

I have been away so have only just seen your post. There is not much in the way of condos in Lampang but there are some serviced apartments. Houses are available but I would need to know your budget and the number of people who will be living with you before offering further suggestions. There are not really any real estate agents either so you will be depending on "word of mouth" advice mostly.

  7. I'll be back in Thailand next week and should be able to get the details for you then. We did it last year so should still have the paperwork. There are several places around that computer design the stickers and then print them on to the material.

Much appreciated Boksida, have a safe trip back to the LoS.

  8. I bought the magnetic material in Bangkok and had it sent north on a tour bus. The magnetic material is fairly easily cut to size and we had stickers made locally and just press them on.

Excellent, that may be a better way to deal with it, do you remember where you bought the magnetic material? I've used the signwriter (are they still called that?) near Mad Dog before, they did a good job so I would probably get the stickers done there.

    Thanks,

    JxP

  10. When you look up Samarkand on Wikipedia, Pete's picture is on the front page,

I think you can safely post the next one Boksida

I'm going to be travelling for a few days so won't be around to provide any clues. Can somebody else go ahead please?

  11. Forget jsat, totally useless after they get your money for the initial setup. You're told to scrounge around on the net for keys that sometimes briefly work. Then you need a firmware upgrade. Then you need a new box . . . and it goes on and on. In the end, you watch very little TV.

To be fair, I think a little balance is required here. I bought a dish and Dynasat F1 move system from a local installer as I live a considerable distance from Bangkok. I did however buy a Dreambox from Jsat. Recently I have had a problem with a new model Australian Network smartcard inserted in the Dreambox not working. This system is completely legal in Thailand and Australian Network (AN) supplied the smartcard. This really has nothing do to do with Jsat but as I could not get any response from AN, I contacted them for advice. In the space of a few days, they have contacted AN and then written new code for the box so the new smartcard will work.

This experience indicates to me that Jsat has above average after sales service. They have disassociated themselves quite publicly from the Dream TV network for some years so I don't see how that can be blamed for any user difficulties in updating illegal codes.
