  1. Come on Pete, more clues needed.

    I've looked at scores of African cities without success.

    The cars are driving on the right so it can't be South Africa or other former british colonies, and the place seems to be too clean, ordered and less busy than you would expect from most northern and central African countries. :o

    Same problems I had. We're stumped Zpete.

  2. Saskatoon-Real-Estate-Moving-Buying-Selling.jpg

    One day I will post a pic that summun does not guess straight off.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Edited because I forgot where the first pic was..... :o
    ........alzheimers, at my young age.
    Maybe you should remove the name of the picture first. Saskatoon. Have another shot.
  3. :o BB will any of your Former Wife or future Wife be coming :D
    -- :D so the Mrs can meet
    I haven't decided which one to bring yet Maxie, still 2 weeks to go. Might even be karnkarnz (in my dreams) or her mum.
    As a devout Muslim, Blinky is legally entitled to have four wives. Does this mean he can get four extra guernseys for the party and the rest of us only get one?
  4. If the ground water gets destroyed here that would be a major problem for this area. There many benefits to mining, but there are problems as well. At least from what I have seen far it won't be strip mining.
    The groundwater and rice yields in the potash project area are not too good anyway. Potash deposits always occur with salt deposits and there is a rock salt layer and an aquiclude above the potash. The presence of salt indicates the absence of groundwater and, where the salt naturally leaches to the surface, affects near surface water and soil quality. The area does have some sugar cane production as this is more salt resistant.
    Potash can not be strip mined as the mine would dissolve when it rained. This is not a good idea.
  5. There is no visa that only requires checking in every year. Any foreigner in Thailand must check in with immigration after being in the country more than 90 days and every 90 days thereafter.
    This is incorrect. Permanent Residents are not required to report every 90 days but must obtain a re-entry visa/endorsement (Non-quota Immigrant Visa) prior to leaving the country. These can be multiple entry for a period of a year.
  6. I drive on a lifetime Thai licence issued over 30 years ago. Unfortunately the photograph of the dashing young man affixed to it bears very little resemblance to the current bearer. Maybe the Land Transport Department has a "Dorian Gray" section somewhere, but it causes great amusement to policemen anyway. It is becoming very hard to use it when renting cars overseas.
  7. Back to the original point, I like going to the Londoner for the following reasons (in order of preference):
    1. It's easy to park and free for 4 hours
    2. I like the draft Heineken there. They look after the plumbing and it reflects in the taste of the beer.
    3. You can meet anyone there without embarrassment, including blokes with expat wives or friends on holidays with kids.
    4. No smoking
    5. The food on Mondays and Tuesdays is half price if you have a voucher for spending 1,000 baht there at any time in the previous month.
    6. The prices are just high enough to keep the riff-raff out.
