  1. Payment is in Pounds Sterling, and is deducted in the UK, so make sure the credit/debit card you use is authorised for foreign use.
  2. I just completed this quiz. My Score 0/100 My Time 57 seconds
  3. I got my new passport in February via VFS. For address verification, I got a residence certificate from CM Immigration and a translation into English from the ABC Visa Agency. For photos I used the local photo shop in my village. Submitted 3 appointment times. They were very helpful in the office, and I got my new passport in 3 weeks. Did my first 90 day in person at CM Immigration with no problems.
  4. I transferred funds from the UK into a Bangkok Bank account today. They were deposited in my Thai account 30 seconds later, as usual.
  5. I tried using Gmail to login. I was asked for my phone number, I entered it and, like somebody above, I got the reply that the number was already in use.
  6. I rarely use Lazada, but I tried to login a few days ago. The password has to be at least 8 characters now, and mine is 7. I tried the suggestion above from kbb and it worked, so I tried to change my password to conform with the new requirements. I got to the required page, but I had to confirm the old password before entering the new one, and it refused to accept the old password because it was less than 8 characters. So where do I go from here.
  7. Thanks for the info. I realise that it's a guessing game as to what documents they actually require at any particular visit, so try to take copies of everything, just in case.
  8. I need to get my stamps transferred. Do CM Immigration do this all day, just mornings, or just afternoons.
  9. When I last got one, I had the option of Thai or English, does anyone know if this option is still available.
  10. I prefer this guy - Didier Drogba Drogba's parting gift to Chelsea (2012).mp4
  11. I thought the online applications needed human approvals. I submitted my application on Sunday 11th at 22:30. I received the approval and new reporting date on Monday 12th at 2:35 am. Overtime at Chiang Mai ?
  12. I pay my PEA bill by Credit Card using Easybills. They charge 8 baht service fee. https://www.easybills.in.th Scroll down and click on Pay Your Bill Now. Scroll down and click on Provincial Electricity Authority. Enter your "Contract Acct" This can be found at the top of your electricity bill as "C/A Ref. No.1" When you hit the "Next" button the amount of the bill will be displayed, enter C/C details to pay. They send a receipt by e-mail. I've been paying this way for over a year now with no problems.
  13. Thanks for the reply but it's not a 90 day report, it's a TM30 change of address.
  14. I'm changing my permanent address soon. Is it possible for me to file my TM30 online?
  15. Thanks for all your replies, lots of good info there. We are looking in Pattaya area because we both enjoy our holidays there, and the biggest reason is that the wife wants to go there.
  16. Thanks for the reply. We've been to Pattaya several times since 1981, and have a good understanding of locations, and we have our own transport, so anywhere within 10km of the sea would be considered. However, knowing a place from holidays is totally different from living there. With inflation to think of, our basic starting ceiling would be around 20,000 per month (without add-ons for water & electricity). We are past the age for regular nightlife, but a stroll to a local bar or restaurant would be a bonus. We also don't rule out a 2 bedroom property, but we don't want a 2 storey house, we've had enough of climbing stairs.
  17. We are both in our 70's and have been living in our own 1 bedroom bungalow, 40Km from Chiang Mai for 30 years. We are forced to move from this house, and are considering a move to long stay rental accommodation in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. We would prefer a 1 bedroom bungalow, but would consider a 1 bedroom appartment. No need to be near the sea, but would appreciate at least a 7-11 nearby. Any recommendations of areas to consider and a guide to rental prices would be appreciated.
  18. I transfer from Barclays UK into my Bangkok Bank account once a year via online banking. Cost is 22 pounds per transfer, no charge at Bangkok Bank. Transfer is done in Sterling, with conversion to Baht using Bangkok Bank exchange rate. Within a minute after confirming the transfer, and before disconnecting from the online banking, I receive an SMS from Bangkok Bank stating the amount credited to my account. It's as good as instantaneous.
  19. The amount shown in the bank book is the net amount after the deduction of the charges. The SMS that is sent at the time of the transfer shows the gross amount, and the net amount. I was merely trying to say that the difference in exchange rates between direct transfer and transfer through Wise was negligible at the time of transfer. It is more convenient for me, but others may prefer to be in control of the timing.
  20. I have been getting my State Pension paid directly into my Bangkok Bank account every 4 weeks, for several years. Bangkok Bank charge 100 baht plus 0.1% of the amount and send me a free SMS notification. The latest payment arrived today with an exchange rate of 43.41 compared to Bangkok Bank's exchange rate at the time of 43.34
  21. Thanon Bumrung Buri is correct, south side of the moat near Pratuu Chang Mai market. I went there a few weeks ago, don't know if they do mobile phones, or not.
  22. I got a new debit card from Barclays in December. Simply go to an ATM in Thailand, and request a balance. It won't cost anything, and it will activate your card. Then you can use it for online banking.
  23. I transferred 10,000 pounds from Barclays in Jersey last Weds. Cost was 15 pounds, plus 10 Pounds to cover Thai bank cost (Thai bank would charge 500 baht). Funds took 1 minute to be credited to Thai bank account.
