Thank you for trying to help, initially I also thought the same, but when I checked my windows control panel The windows Language setting is US English, and the location is set to USA, the only thing Thai is the time zone.

The issue has to be Chrome related because DuckDuckGo displays the date in their search results western calendar. I have looked int Google settings and into my personal google account but no luck so far.

No idea...  for me on Format > the drop down menu has many English, I just clicked UK English

    Windows 10 and Google Browser

just checked mine has 42 different places in English around the world as well as UK English

OK, here's some positive news from the IPC. I sent an e-mail to my helpful contact there and she passed it on to her manager to ask what to do about it, and this is the reply she just sent me:

"After talking with my manager he did advise me that we have a contract with a postal company which may send post through other countries to minimize cost and  to protect tax payers funds.  I understand that 18 weeks is not satisfactory at all and the mail should arrive within 8 weeks, this is going to be looked into.

If your pension does stop you can telephone our department on +1912187777 and confirm your identity over the telephone and payments will be restarted immediately.  Please feel free to pass this information on, also if you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my upmost to help."

As said before if you look at the UK Royal Mail website, is states could take 12 weeks [non Airmail] to arrive in Thailand...Also interesting clearly states that BA no longer have flights to Thailand, so Air Mail letter are sent 1 x weekly via Cargo in some plane.

This is the second time the Pension 'Life' form has not arrived....

--"and confirm your identity over the telephone and payments will be restarted immediately"--

Yes this is true, but only for 16 weeks until they get the 'New' "life Certificate"  the man I spoke to sent a new form via email straight after the phone call.

Also note:  restarted immediately uh in 2023 you would think that this then would arrive next day in the Thai Bank... It took 10 working days to show up.  3 days later the next 4 week payment arrived on normal day

  3. I have blood work done 1x a year, so really only need to go to the Hospital once a year, yet must go every 3 months to see the Dr and get a another repeat prescription .. total time at least 6 hours, at the local Government Hospital  10 mins away..

Very Large waiting room with 4 Drs rooms, + at the end in another room with 2 Dr's. here we are all Diabetic. there is always 100's of people. but fairly fast as most are just repeat prescriptions only...

Med's are a lot cheaper at Government Hospitals. + around where I live NO Pharmacy sells Insulin....

Few years ago used to use 'Chula' Red Cross, [Leave home 4:30 rarely back before 16:00] stopped going there because of travel + Covid.  but did go across to road Rama 4 to the cheaper Pharmacies to ask the price,  cost 1,200 baht more expensive every 3 months.

Hospitals just need to find a way to issue repeat prescriptions, would cut the waiting/people down a lot

Telephone them +44 (0) 191 218 7777 I found the best time to call them is after 3 p.m UK time. They are usually very helpful when you get through.

Instead of using the + sign,

    If using AIS use 00500

    If using DTAC use 00400

    If using True use 00600

    All have Overseas deals

This time used AIS  you buy a 40 min package = 3 baht per min [normal 7 baht] 0034 then 0044 etc

Still had to buy a 2 nd package, total bill was 488 baht !!

still took 20 days before my pension arrived in the Bank !! after the phone call and the man said he would approve my Pension for another 16 weeks  + send the new Life forms by email

  6. DWP or Post Question.........

After having my pension stopped, never received the Life Certificate so say sent in Jan 2023, returned the one sent by email on the 19th June by recorded delivery...  So could track it...  Long list until it arrived at Heathrow Royal Mail Sorting Office on 24th, as of today still says arrived at Heathrow 24th June..

Should I be worried ? expected it to be delivered in Wolverhampton by this time ?  or is it only tracked as far as to UK  ??

  7. Maybe runs in the family ?   most of my Uncles and Ants [6 of them] were diabetic ...

Here in Thailand.  2 friends both in there 60s and painfully thin are diabetic....  just up the Village, Thai friends for years.  there all diabetic the old man 92, son 56, grandson 22 and grand daughter 26 all diabetic and all must take insulin daily, NON are over weight/fat

Another Thai friend is well over weight  but only take 1 x 500 mg Metformin a day, last week his Hospital visit FBS was 126. it has been around the same for past 5 years.

  10. Hardware shop, the wire rat trap used to be 30 baht each, last 2  bought late last year were 60 baht each...

for past 19 years only have rats in the kitchen, catch one or two most weeks, the joys of living out in the sticks...  same in UK but smaller mice [also lived out in the sticks]

Caught one in the trap was in there this morning when I went in the kitchen,  dropped in a bucket of water and bagged, trap is already reset and awaiting the next one....

Many thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful. I agree the most likely answer is the 'proof of life' cert. I'm 71, and never had one, so didn't know it existed. I tried calling the phone number given but after a wait of 15 minutes while listening to some 'irk' strumming a guitar, and being told continuously to 'continue to hold', I gave up. Will try later in the day (UK time).

Gave up after 15 mins.......  the fastest time for me was 18 mins, then transferred to the  life cert department + wait = total time 27 mins.....

So say they sent out this paper in January as of today it still has not arrived.... !!   Look on Royal Mail website UK - Thailand via normal mail = 12 weeks.......  Via cargo ship to Singapore then overland to Thailand....   Even recorded Delivery Air Mail takes up to 10 days... these days there is 1x plane that take the mail  per week...

The officer that I spoke to send my the Forms yesterday to my email so printed it out and is ready to post on Monday.. pension restarted for another 16 weeks until the life cert arrives

This afternoon most of the ordered stuff got delivered,

Though this morning I decided to take my faulty PC apart and clean it up.

There was a lot of dust on the MB under the CPU cooler, and I also replaced the thermal glue under the VGA card's heat sink.

Cleaned RAM and VGA card contacts.

Now PC works normal. Before the screen would become static after a few minutes, and PC would constantly restart.

Guess could have saved some money if I had done this earlier

Yes dirty = running to hot = automatically restarts to protect it's self

Did you also clean the PSU, ?

Good idea to have a App running  lots of them about FREE and paid versions....   PC Temperature Monitor App

  13. Fully ready and discount price.

or older ?   https://www.jib.co.th/web/product/readProduct/59060/1400/COMPUTER-SET-JIB-MARU-2305008  the onboard graphics is not as good.   Intel UHD Graphics 630    vs  Intel UHD Graphics 730  on the i3 12100

The i5 is 10th  generation came out early 2020  vs the i3 is 12th generation and came out last year

Myself in all the years have owned a PC always used AMD. so do not follow Intel much so feel sure other will advise if the i3 or i5 is better for your use

That's definitely not the impression given by you saying, "he says it is the worst decision he every made to buy a EV car"?

Were you being deliberately disingenuous, or just accidentally?

I have never been a Salesman with a Company Car.... so can only go on what I have been told...

There is a small list of cars he could have, The ban on hybrid cars in the UK [2030 ?] was a important decision to go BEV over the Hybrid models... So was the worst decision he ever made....

He will be pension age within 5 years, normally the Company car is part of the leaving present also with many Companies he has been with them since he was 22..

During covid when people stayed home the fuel prices were nearly half what they are now. If everyone goes electric I expect the same to happen with reduced demand.

Regarding electric prices, my point was relating to further taxation. If the gvt loses tax income from petrol, where do you think they will make up the shortfall?

So say in UK the Government has lost so far £ 25 million from petrol/diesel tax + road tax on EVs

    Quote

where do you think they will make up the shortfall,

UK so say coming soon will be pay per miles....

Understand in UK they have been taking out the FREE charging units = must have the right type of EV to use + payment cards to use the newer charging points  [why different types and models use different EV chargers and connectors ? ]

Friend in UK, followed map to 3 different so say charging stations 2 not working the other a different type of  payment card =  not enough battery to try another station = breakdown service had to be called,  this is the 3rd time in a month !  he says it is the worst decision he every made to buy a EV car.. Maybe if he owned a house with off road parking and charging point would be a different matter.

The + side is Sweden that are re-building the Motorways and some main road with automatic EV charging under the surface

Here is a question as price of electric has gone up so much it is no longer as cheap to charge any more,  did look into it for some time = will wait awhile longer, took delivery of the new Ranger last week.

RIP fella; When you hit a concrete barrier at 150 kph, when possibly not wearing a seat belt, you are asking an awful lot of the vehicle's air-bags.

Another senseless and unnecessary loss of life, but at least he didn't take anyone else with him

Depends on the year of the D-Max, the base models were not fitted with airbags or ABS until the last model
