  1. For the more-Thai-than-thou in Sukhumvit I would advise getting a big gold Buddha amulet to show "oneness" with the local culture. Also loudly speaking in Thai whenever Farang tourists are in earshot to be distinguishable. That should do it.

lol .... I do get around tourists every so often, but I rarely speak loudly in Thai. I do wear a Buddhist amulet as well ... it is ceramic .. was a gift and am happy to wear it.

Exactly what is your issue Robi? :o

  2. 1/2 a day's wages? for whom would that be 1/2 a days wages?

for a laborer? yes ... for a teen working at 7/11? yes ....

for my partner? He spends more on lunch daily .... And he's sitting behind a desk ... not rubbing the sweaty feet of some tourist

  3. Kuthep asks EC to cut funds to Democrat, Chat Thai

Thai Rak Thai Party MP Kuthep Saikrachang Tuesday called on the Election Commission to cut funds to the Democrat and Chat Thai parties on the grounds that they were undermining democracy by blocking the election.

Kuthep said the authorities should investigate the election boycott by the two parties to determine whether they were guilty of electoral offences.

They should not be given funds normally allocated to support political parties, he said.

"We have evidence the two parties supported the mob that gathered to block candidates from small parties as they tried to register their candidacies ... and former Democrat MPs also joined the [anti-Thaksin] rallies," he said.

He had also learned Democrats planned to hold rallies in Yasothon and Khon Kaen at which incidents similar to the ugly scene in Chiang Mai late last month would be repeated, he said. At the rally in Chiang Mai senior Democrats were pelted with chairs and rotting fruit.

    Was that a threat?

  4. Suvarnabhumi Airport will pick the private sector to operate express bus services to central Bangkok

The service, to be called Airport Express (AE), will ply between Suvarnabhumi and four destinations in Silom, Witthayu, Bang Lamphu (บางลำพู), and Hua Lamphong (หัวลำโพง) Railway Station.

The Cabinet has also set as a guideline that AE buses must be new and equipped with standard facilities, space for luggage, and the closed-circuit television system. Prospective entrepreneurs to operate the service must have recognized capability in the field.

That's all fine and dandy uless you happen to live on Sukhumvit! Just another face saving ploy in light of no real official transport mode from that god forsaken wilderness.

I wonder how much it will cost the "Prospective entrepreneurs" to gain the contract? Another question springs to mind......Exactly what route will these new buses plan to take? The as yet unfinished expressway, or the gridlocked lower roads. The most importany question is, yep you guessed it....HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE??

for Silom and Wireless the busses will come in Bangna Trat and exit Rama4 I would guess ....

  5. oh and 30% of the Capital city residents are going to Chiang Mai this week ....

Well........... They won't have to worry about some PAD rally blocking up the streets over the holidays in Chiang Mai. It's a beautiful old city with friendly people, you should visit there sometime it would do you good to see the upcountry area. Just don't wear your yellow Pad bandanna or they may drown you in the moat or chase you out of the province. :D

That's Sad that you think Chiang Mai'ians are violent killers and so reactionary! :o

But I would bet that ... actually LIVING here in Thailand that I have been to CNX much more recently than you have :D

But this Songkran I'll be positioned with a bottle of beer and my super-soaker in Kanchanaburi. (After having gone to temple first!)

  6. That's funny!!!

Could read .... of the 50% that want to throw water at the former caretaker PM ... 70% would aim for his face ....

oh and 30% of the Capital city residents are going to Chiang Mai this week .... more than tripling the population of the province!

  7. Since the Thai sangha has a distinct leader seperate from sri lanka .....
