Great english there, sounds cool, but from "abroad" or "a broad". There´s a difference, no ? ????

I don't believe in COVID as a serious world health problem (0.5M dead out of 8B = trivial).
All the countries being shut was for an entirely different reason.
I don't know what that reason was, but it's probably still there.
Now if COVID had killed 1B ................
Black Death killed 50% of the world population.
Spanish Flu killed 33% of the world population.
COVID killed 0.00625% of the world population.
You ever heard of the term "prevention paradox" ?
The COVID numbers are to a certain extent so low, BECAUSE of the extreme lockdown everywhere.
We don´t know, where we would stand now without it.
But i agree, if you overreact, like Thailand, we´ll never get to herd immunity here.

Well if the are doing it on flights, surely the same thing should apply to all forms of transport and venues. No difference sitting on a plane next to someone than sitting in a restaurant.
You´re right, but empty seats in a restaurant don´t usually waste as much money, as empty seats in an airplane, which will be reflected on your ticket prices . .

It is now possible to renew your driving licences. My friend did it today in Lipa Noi.
For renewals be there at around 09:45. There were no queue numbers used, just check in at the tent in front of the building.
Bring expired licences, passport- and visa- copies, and certificate of residence from immigration (all copies double, if motorbike + car).
No medical certificate required for renewals.
"Tests" are the same as usual, just wear your mask, keep distances and dress decently.

Of course , original vaccine will be created somewhere else like many others. But Thailand have to build capacity and technology readiness for new vaccine and once the covid vaccine launch , Thailnd are able to instantly manufacture the vaccine used domestically , no need to import expensive vaccine and wait long queue.
understand?? you not smart third class farangsss in here!!!
Let´s Thailand first develope a real safe, thoroughly tested and working, internationally recognized vaccine, before endulging in wet vaccine-hub dreams, shall we ?

I think, i always did it the wrong way: When i needed medication, i went to the nearest pharmacy, or doctor, duh.
Instead, i should have travelled to India for headaches, to China for a course of antibiotics, to America for a wound-plaster, and so forth . . .

On a side note:
Whenever i have a suspicious .exe, i upload it quickly to "Virus Total" (from context menu), which gives me the results of around 70 different antivirus programs (main players), all at once.
Doesn´t get better than that !

Free, unintrusive, isn't nagware like others, uses a different db and different detection algorithms. Isn't painful to schedule it to come up once a week. It's never found anything major on my machine but it sometimes comes up with PUPs that Windows Defender hasn't. And I quarantine those suckers, too.
So that's good 'nuff.
I hope that answers your question.
All good reasons, why i´m looking into it.
And i read in many articles that Malwarebytes (premium) has an extra setting in its options, which makes it "not registering" in W10 as the main AV in Windows, so as to be able to run real-time in parallel to Defender. And because of its very different algorithms should not conflict (and in both you can specify file-exceptions for them to not fight each other)
Guys, i think this "once a week" thing makes only sense to a certain degree, because if i´m very unlucky, it means, that i´m probably exploited for 6 days 23 hours 59 minutes already.
It´s like sending the police to a bank-heist location one week after the robbery ????
And i think, that Defenders real-time protection alone is not enough, but could be a good team with MB. One for the viruses and the other one expert in spyware-detection.
I guess, my newer high spec computer could handle them easily, considering they are both not known to bug down the system. I´ll see.
Btw, MB now also offers a complete VPN in its bundle. Did some of you try it ? Speed ?

Technically it's semi-automatic. I just put an entry to run the program .exe in the Windows Task Scheduler. Full path must be in quotation marks: "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbam.exe". So that brings it up every Monday morning at 10 AM, in my face. I hit the Scan button and go back to whatever. It updates itself then does its thing. ???? Good 'nuff.
Anytime you're in the Task Scheduler is a good time to go thru again and get rid of all the useless scheduled startups that various programs and M'soft have put in there.
Great idea. I will try that, thanks for the tips.
But i´m contemplating getting the Malwarebytes premium version (with real-time protection) anyway. But is it possible to run that with Defenders real-time in parallel ?
I just have to get rid of my Avast (paid), which is getting on my nerves by always nagging me and slowing down my computer.
I have another old laptop with low specs, used only for streaming tv, where i replaced Avast with the simpler Microsoft Security, and it suddenly runs like a champ now. Avast was good years ago, but now it wants to take over my computer ????
In any case, one thing is certain, the best (additional) antivirus out there is sitting right in front of the computer . .

Defender's quite good nowadays, one of the best. Using more real-time protection is unnecessary and will just slow down your machine and become annoying. I just use Defender and also do an automatic scan weekly w/ free Malwarebytes.
How do you do that ? My free Malwarebytes says: "automatic/scheduled" only available in Test- or Premium version.

For my 1 year retirement extension, as my source of income, i used the "money in Bank" route and was told to bring the bank letter + account statement at the first 90 day report again, to show that i still have the money (100 Baht at the Bank for the letter) .
It´s ok, but their super, extra, special, non downloadable samui-forms are pissing me off . . .

We are really fortunate to have such a detailed guide from @evadgib in post # 1 of this thread. Did really help me a great deal. Plus the fact, that it´s pretty quiet at Immigration nowadays, so application was a breeze.
There´s only one thing missing, which is a downloadable form of TM7, TM8 (you know, the special versions of Samui Immigration). Maybe somebody could arrange that here, i don´t know how.
Because of Samui´s "special version" we all have to go to Imm. first, just to get those damn forms = waste of time.
By the way, when i applied 1 year extension + (single) re-entry, which is 1900 Baht + 1000 Baht, i was quoted a bold 3000 Baht, to make a nice round figure, or so ????.
I didn´t want to stir up a stink, so i just paid that, to be on my way. It´s probably wrong to just pay, but who really wants to start a big discussion there.
But next time, i will prepare an envelope with the exact sum in it, which hopefully solves that little, annoying, problem in the future.
Thanks again to @evadgib

Two weeks ago they tried to sell the 990 baht medical to me as well there, including bloodtest and x-ray for lungs. I noticed the brandnew entrance hall and thought they need somebody to pay for their new marble tiles.
Well, not me, thanks, but no thanks. Went straight to Thai International hospital, opposite Lotus, and did it there. 250 Baht as usual (enough for the retirement extension).

"A 63 year old foreign pensioner wandering about in the area without a visa. Nabed by smart car and SWAT-team".
Truly avoided a threat to national security.
It´s just sad, how Thailand constantly wastes its energy on minor problems, while the country is falling apart.

I'm just in the middle of trying to renew my driving licence, its not going very well.
I went to my local driving licence office (Prakon Chi, Buriram) on Thursday with existing 5 year licence (my 3rd 5 year licence), Yellow house book, Pink ID, passport with visa and photo copy's of every thing. The lady told me I needed a letter of residence from immigration.
I went to Buriram Immigration the same day. They asked why I needed the letter, then said I would have to go back to the driving licence office and get a letter requesting a certificate/ letter of residence.
Friday I went back to the driving licence office and requested a letter requesting a certificate/letter of residence. The lady told me that was not possible. My wife asked if it was possible to pay extra to do away with the certificate/letter of residence, the answer was no.
So on Monday I will go back to Buriram and try again. Hopefully thing will work out, but as we all know Thai bureaucracy follows no logic.
Wait, what ? The driving licence office requested you to go request a certificate of residence at Immigration, where they requested you to go request a requestion from DLO to be able to request at Imm . . .
You just can´t make this up. I see no hope for this country. ????

If, on the other hand, you walk into Macks Hardware and Ice Cream Shop sobbing brokenly and say, Sell me some rope, Im going to off myself and they do so, they could be held liable.
Thats why when you decide to do it, tell them what you need the rope for and record it with your phone so your old lady can sue and finally get something out of you.
Aand what for, do you guys, exactly, have guns for ?
