    Gold.

If it doesn’t have gold attached to it, they don't want it.

Shit, i´m really to slow, but it´s probably because i don´t think first of Gold

I am going to allow myself one small box of goodies.

The relatives do not want pictures, nicknacks, old clothes, old appliances. If it doesn’t have a G attached to it. Out it goes.

Sorry, what is a "G" ? Or do i get to old for this. It slowly creeps up on me. "Is it me or you ?" Thats the question i more and more ask myself.

Guys, please tell me i´m still insane  what the f. is "G" ?

    I think it´s still you.

A couple of decades ago I was in your shoes

So I asked my future mother in-law (rest her soul) what was expected

They were poor farmers & she told me her daughter was not for sale but

should we marry she hoped I would take care of her daughter & hoped that we would be very healthy & happy together.

I knew then & there that this was a good family & I was not proved wrong.

    Good Luck to you

You are lucky as anyone could ever be. Please tell me you are still together with her !

Getting about in a wheelchair in Thailand was pretty horrid.

I must say that the only good thing was that I was generally treated with a good deal of respect and courtesy by the Thai people which raised them very high in my estimation.

Generally speaking I was limited to trips to Tesco-Lotus and the local hospital.

I think Thailand is not to bad for that, as they respect their elders.

But i would send them around, i have many wishes

Exactly.      I once saw a ramp at a hotel that was definitely at a  minimum 45 degree incline.   Whomever was responsible for the design of that needs a head examination.      As populations continue to age into  ever higher years   there'll be  more and more need for attention to be given to  mobility issues.

Damn, i think, one doesn´t think about wheelchairs until he sits in one . . .

I personally know people who live with the shutters closed so sunlight does not fade stuff in the house like books, paintings etc and who don't go on vacation because it's not good for the car to sit stationary that long.

you should give your friends a review

I am 55, I feel the best about my future and happiest I have been in my entire life.

But since I have read this article and posts, my thoughts of a wonderful future have gone. I have a house full of stuff. I heard a piece of good advice. Your loved ones don't want your stuff that you have collected over 20 years. It is a real burden for them to have to clear out. So over the next couple of years, I will throw out all my memories that I will not need when I'm dead. My plan is to make my death as troublesome free as I can for my son. If your girl is a newbie, then best to be wary, you might live long. But if she has been around awhile then she should know everything she needs to know in the event of your death.

    Make her burden troublesome free.

I will clean out my house, first thing in the morning, she doesn´t deserve anything worse, thats not a question, but an answer !

Good point.  I've seen people unwilling to move to assisted living when they really should because they have a condo or house full of stuff that they just can't part with.  In truth much of that stuff could go with them to the assisted living place and there is help available for sorting through it.  Of course, if they go to sell things they'll discover even nice appliances and furniture are worth a small fraction of what they paid. No one is going to give you even half the price you paid for a four year old TV when there have been so many improvements in the past four years, for example.

And it's even worse when someone should return to their home country and have acquired stuff here that they just can't part with.  Or worse yet, think their loved ones will be interest in, so they pay a fortune to have it shipped back.

Hubby and I came over here 10 years ago with just four large suitcases of stuff and had some boxes mailed from the U.S.  Since then we've bought a condo full of stuff, but it's all expendable.  Well, except maybe for the two cats.

NancyL you´re helpfull, thank you !

You must have a brother or sister or uncle that could oversee your funds.

Or at the very least a couple of friends.

I didn't have children, but was lucky enough to get a throw away kid when I was early 40s. He is now 12 and looks to have a great future. I'm hoping he might hang around a bit until I'm dead.

I have a few bitcoins, distributed at 3 USB-Sticks, with instructions how to get them, and my love of my life knowing where they are, hope she doesn´t  before i´m dead.

I did hide them really good  .

As me then. I am 67 for one more month, and I have wondered about what it would be like to try to swim the Pacific when the time comes...

I'll probably never find out as I a planning on buying a Honda CB 650 X to explore Isaan...

I´m a motocross guy, and can´t ever imagine not leaping off into air, what do i do ? I guess, what has to be done, has to be done by now.

If you have plenty of money, you would be very well cared for.

There are many retirement villages opening here. I think you buy the room, then pay around 16000 a month or something. Daily meals and health checks all provided. Look up retirement villages thailand.

    If you have money.

If you don't. Stay where you are.

My problem is: Who looks after my money, when i´m to stupid for that ? Didn´t care to have children in my life.

For entertainment purpose, i once tried to send USD to Europe, to my multicurrency- account. They said: Only Euro to Europe. Needless to say, i went over to the next bank and no problem

These guys ask themselfes how they got there, all day !

In case, nobody believes me: i can´t believe it myself, but its true, happened a while back though, when they invented banks in Thailand.

Anyway, always buy Euro or USD first, then send that.

My max amount was 15000 Euro without any questions asked.

And for any money sent into thailand i ask for a letter from the manager in this branch (Stamp and signature,100 Baht, but they always look somewhat bewildered at me ), confirming that i brought this money into Thailand, so i wouldn´t have problems sending it out of thailand.

Indeed!! Bizarre! Literally a 30 second job to lift up the filter cover and check if it's clogged with dust and crap. If it is, couple of minutes to hose them clean. I seriously couldn't be asked to involve hotel maintenance in that. It's about as difficult as changing a light bulb.

In all honesty I'm more bothered about the accumulated germs etc than the impact on cooling. Unless they are REALLY bad the AC unit will still cool, just less efficiently, it'll burn more electricity to reach the desired thermo setting. If there's no muck (VERY rare, regardless of the room rate) at least that's one thing eliminated if the AC is crap. In which case likely a gas leak, failed compressor or a faulty unit.

I always unpack my toilet testing kit in front of the bellboy, swipe a good sample and upload the outcome to my scientific research website. That is, if the wifi works  The bellboy always freaks out. No exception.

    Are you serious?

    I´m afraid he is.

I found out, to best NOT disturb the filters, as this will spread all the spores in the room. And what gives you guys the idea to ask for other room will result in a different experience ?

I just rent at a good hotel and hope it´s worth the extra dosh.

Life´s to short for cleaning airconditionfilters in hotels . . .

You must be quoting from the tourist guide books. The reality, as shown by several postings on this site every day, is far far different.

But thanks for the Aircon tip. Not a bad idea.

Ok, imagine, the poor guy, who thinks about nothing else, than his <deleted> tip, whitnesses me taking a stool,  climbing up to the aircondition, taking out the filters, going to the bathroom, washing them, and installl the filters again. You guys have a serious problem.

Please don't share your experience from Nakhon Nowhere.

    This thread is Samui specific.

My story happened in Samui, but a while back. Gods help me !

I´m due for my 5 year renewal, i let my driving license run out, like every law abiding citizen.

I hear: up to one year, no plomplem, up to 3 year, big plomplem.

Is that still right, on Samui ?
