  1. The photo could be almost any soi in Thailand; throw in tons of dog dirt and millions of gallons of urine and it's just amazing there aren't more pandemics sweeping the country. Thai logic; wear masks but ignore crash helmets!
  2. With an invisible and inept police force, there's no deterrent for thieves.
  3. AKA - politicians. Of course they're going to keep spouting the same mealy-mouthed platitudes whilst doing nothing.
  4. A flying squad of plastic traffic cones would be an improvement.
  5. Totally agree. Thailand smugly boasts 90+% employment! I ask how many of them work? Look at the numbers of over-manned shop assistants who either hide from customers or follow them about in herds. Most Thais would not last a week in the West.
  6. My worst bill EVER - by 40%!
  7. A Brit drunk clinging to a lady buoy? Happens daily in Pattaya.
  8. After a FIVE hour journey to Laem Chabang not caused by congestion but by decades of RTP inaction, the afore-mentioned tourist will not be back. He and his wife were en route to an expensive boat cruise around Thailand's islands. They are precisely the sort of well-heeled tourists TAT are always seeking to attract.
  9. If you'd told me, I wouldn't have had to do the same. J apanese A dult V ideo.
  10. The invisible police take a dim view of being forced to work.
  11. How many are still 'working'? How many were sentenced? How many millions of ill-gotten gains were re-couped? It's not just the traffic cops who do a rubbish job; seemingly there's another branch who don't do any work either.
  12. occurred after an accident to which the police were forced to attend. Only the other 3% offences involved active police 'work'.
  13. What does a Transport minister do? Ensure safety on the roads? If so public executions should be introduced for ministers who do not do their jobs.
  14. And concentrate on the only thing he knows about: construction!
  15. So far. (There's usually a few victims who survive a few days not yet included the above figures.) Just back from a 300 kms round to Bangkok to meet up with friends from UK. One said he had not seen ONE cop during this 1st trip (& last) trip to Thailand: it took FIVE hours to travel 121 kms on the 7 motorway; probably due to dickhead speedsters lane-changing collisions. I too saw the same number of cops throughout the full weekend. I wonder how many tourists the disgraceful RTP dissuade annually from a return trip?
  16. Could it coincide with the non-burning season? If a variety of potential tourists made enough noise about lung cancer would the Government do anything about it?
  17. Is 'hotspots' the new euphemism for fires? If this satellite can spot these carcinogenic fires from six miles up, why can't local police see them from the relative safety/comfort of their A/C offices? How many more must die before those tasked with 'serving and protecting' do their job?
  18. Where are these official figures written? Do they apply to meterless taximeters?
  19. Again may I praise this thread for being the most helpful on AseanNow. I try to avoid the wokism/realism discussions; I am a frustrated author/playwright who can't get an agent. HOWEVER even 'Ted Lasso' has fallen. We've watched two series devoted to the heterosexual relationships of one female character with two footballers only to find in series 3 she's a closet LESBIAN now. I've been watching 'A Town Called Malice' - it's so badly written it's very watchable. Suddenly a Bermondsey toughie has developed feelings for the Spanish Mayor of the afore mentioned town! I need to rethink my whole process of character development.
  20. 'the man allegedly did not take good care of his dog, having let it bark and defecate in public areas.' All Thailand is a dog toilet. Thais supposedly care about health & wear masks yet allow dogs to defecate & urinate all over EVERY soi in the land!
  21. For drowning - The age adjusted Death Rate is 5.49 per 100,000 of population ranks Thailand #22 in the world. Throw in figures for kids killed on motorbikes with parental consent means Thai parents are among the worst in the world.
  22. Mass media daren't even publish the names of any wrong-doing individuals/establishments lest they are sued. TripAdvisor carries a specific warning about negative reviews here. LOS = Land of Litigation even when the complaint is true.
