If I had ten million baht I wouldn't be be begging Thailand to let me in to buy a more expensive house than I need in an area not of my choice! Why can't they see that the best investment is in retirees who live here permanently; adopt Thai children abandoned by their fathers; support the mothers/families and local companies all year round yet get treated as terrorists in every walk of Thai life.

Thai Government Prepares to Recruit Thais to Address Labor Shortage
mikebell replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There are 400,000 vacancies. So roughly 3 in every 4 Thais think themselves above work. I been to 20+ countries and Thais are the laziest nation I've visited. -
Changes to laws on foreigners owning land set for 2022
mikebell replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Then they take back 51%. There's too many lawyers and auditors minting it by creating companies to ever allow such a measure. The estate where I lived had 62 houses. Covid exiled 3 or 4 & they had to sell up. The houses were all bought by Thais. (2 as weekend cottages.) Mr Meechai, there's a glut of houses standing empty, built by those who daren't put money in the bank. Why not allow farangs to buy these? -

Anutin: No one said we'd open the country and Bangkok on October 1st
mikebell replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Anutin's Chinese vaccine has had such a bad press that many Thais are more terrified of it than catching Covid. It has been very good for him though; he'll soon be able to retire and get back to mixing mortar. (His real trade.) New nickname 'Afootin' mouth. -
Registration for 3rd “Rao Tiew Duay Kan” tourism program starts Sep 24

Help is certainly required. I want to spend two nights with my son in Bangkok for my birthday. I emailed three good hotels in the area only to be quoted ludicrous prices plus ++. I am going AirB&B. -
Thai Health Ministry Insists Country’s Reopening Plan Is Not Premature
mikebell replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Difficult choice; lots of people dying or few profits for big companies. He's made his pile with the Chinese vaccine so my guess is he will play safe and further reduce the economy of the ordinary worker. -
“More assertive role, long-term foreign policy needed”
mikebell replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Foreign policy? Thailand? These concepts are inconceivable together. There is Thailand and then the rest of the world. Individual countries are only identified by how much money they will generate here. Trump said it best - 'Thighland.' -
Thailand’s ‘largest’ floating solar project comes online
mikebell replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is surprising that solar power is not more widespread here. The usual reason is the formation of monopolies and/or cartels to corner the market. Looks like the Chinese got here first. -

Thailand’s Foreign Minister to visit Washington and UN next week

Hope he's had his Junket jabs and will be allowed to return without jumping thro' the hoops normal people must. How many in his entourage? -
Is their HQ in Chiang Mai? Who knew there was a department for overseeing pickups never serviced in ten years; someone to oversee the broiling of smoking chickens on every corner obscuring the view of drivers; where are these officials five times a week when residents elect to burn their waste rather than tip it on a quiet soi?
