  1. The story didn.t indicate where the Jordanian was staying.  If I'm carrying a large amount of cash (which I wouldn't unless I'm doing something fishy), I would be in an upscale hotel with management's personal assurance of security for the cash.
Not unusual for Arabs dealing in import-export to carry a lot of cash and staying in ordinary hotels.

Downpayment to hide the real amount on invoices or get better deals than anybody. I've seen a few of them paying whole containers cash! They are very good at bargaining (with no shame) and get some incredible deals.

  2. a couple of nights ago whilst drying between my toes I managed to split (crack) the skin at the base of my little toe.

It might not sound like much but it's at least as deep as the Grand Canyon and it hurts like buggery.

Any ideas how to get it healed up quickly would be appreciated. :o

    Fungus?

I got rid of mine (lot of itching and cracked skin) following one of the suggestions in this forum: Lymarin cream, 5 gr tube, 99 baht in any pharmacy.

  3. Thais and Cambo workers wearing balacalavas in 40C+ heat :o

    Why do they do that???

People in the desert do the same... Maybe they all do it for the same reasons...?

I experienced it in the Sahara desert: When it's hot and sunny, like any hat, it actually keeps your head cooler and protects you from sunburn. But the most important thing is the condensation forming on the fabric covering your mouth and nose. It keeps your throat, lips and nostrils from drying and helps you from having to drink constantly.

  4. What you have to remember is that dishes like spagetti are'nt "cook to order" ie they need time to cook and simmer so are usually frozen or made in a big pan and reheated. You cant get someone to take out chilli's!!!
Seen in an Italian restaurant: They have a pot of hot water ready on the stove, it's always set on low gas.

They get an order: they take the pre-cooked pasta (no sauce) from the fridge; as the water is already very hot, they increase the gas... 30 seconds in boiling water and it's ready...

  5. One of my neighbors in bkk couln't stop his boy using his father's motocycle. He started at 9 years old... A big boy with average height... he was driving around the moo bahn and other small sois like any experienced driver. The mother was saying it was impossible to stop him "he loves it too much"!

  6. A fridge for a restaurant or mini-mart?

    Makasan International Trading Co., Ltd.

1224-1228 New Petchburi Rd., Makkasan, Rajthevee, Bangkok, 10400 Thailand

    tel: (66) 0-2652-7001 fax: (66) 0-2652-9016

When you have a problem they send their repairman very fast.

I think they still have another shop in Bankapi almost at the beginning of Srinakarin road (going to Bangna, it's on your right hand side).

Interested by a used one? I think I know a place having a used one... 2 or 3 doors...

  7. Are there any sites you can go to and air complaints to either the Immigration Office or the Prime Ministers office???

    1) They don't really care about what you think.

    2) Name another country where you can do that...

  8. 1. they are using your monthly payments to finance the construction of the project.  However, if not enough units are sold, the money will run dry - and the project will not be completed.  Most "old-hands" these days simply don't put deposits down on condo units not already completed - or at least completely financed.  We all know someone who was in court during 97-98 trying to get their money back because they had signed-up for this exact type of deal, only for it to all come crashing down.

They use the cash of one project to finance another... Some of the largest builders in Thailand went down in 97. I don't think I'm authorized here to name the crooks who still owe us our downpayment of half million baht on one of their many unfinished projects (still in court... one of the top builders a few years ago).

Buying from plans here is a lottery. Some projects in Thailand are half finished and stay this way for 10 years, even forever... Poor or no security, no maintenance... often a war zone!

I think it was during the jewelry fair last month that PM Thaksin was wondering how come some of the people who went bankrupt in 97 are still wearing some very expensive jewelry... They screwed thousands of people and will never go to jail because they are part of the biggest families in this country... the biggest crooks of this country.

  9. In July I bought 100 hours Sanook KSC and with that package I got a FREE 100 hours Sanook KSC (modem #1222 to use on my other TOT line).

No wonder it was free... I was able to connect only once around 1 AM. I disconnected because I couldn't even open one site. Terrible connection... and I don't think I'll be able to use those 100 free hours...

  10. I woudn't buy anything... I would try to find students at Silpakorn University (art school) and take on consignment some drawings and paintings...

Some extra cash and a way to change the decoration as often as you want...

(I suppose your question is related to your new café...)
