  1. When teaching in Chonburi City, I used to go to the bank on a regular basis. On each occasion, as I walked through the door, someone, who spoke English, was soon at my side.

Within minutes, a glass of hot tea, glass of cold water and biscuits, were placed on the desk, thus allowing me to carry out my business. I never once experienced any language or understanding difficulties.

  2. It depends on whom the agency is doing the work for and how often they pay out. Sometimes, the company who carries out the hiring for the agency may also be a 'scout' doing the work for the main source, i.e.. A TV company, a magazine, etc. Thus resulting in three parties involvement.

It can take a while for the monies to work through the system.

  3. This may help you.

Here is a link of school web sites. Maybe not all, however, it is fairly comprehensive.

    Hope this helps >>>>

I am unsure what you mean by Language Schools. There are Language Centres (Centers) , alas, they are numerous.

I do know there is a similar web site referred to as Yellow Pages that list language centres, city by city and province by province.

I did have that link at one time, however, I no longer do so.

    Good luck

  4. shame the prices are n't going the same way in bars, but as usual they go up.

Ah well that's the Thai business logic. Less customers means you have to increase the prices to make the same profit. Their aim is to open one night a year, have one customer who buys one bottle of beer for five million Baht.

    :o so true.

    Spot on.

So, what is it for a glass/bottle of beer in a night club these days? 4-6 dollars? Almost as home.

Sure, there are all varieties of price classes (and establishments).

There are many pubs in the UK that sell a full pint of beer and lager, far cheaper than in Thailand.

I realised this about two years ago.

  5. I doubt if there is an actual law stating that you cannot leave a child at home on their own. There are laws as regards neglect and it can be an offence.

I have checked online and can find nothing. However, a few things come into play here.

If you tuck a child into bed and decide to go for a 10 minute walk, then that would be ok, for some people. But would you really feel at ease knowing that your child or children are in the home alone? Anything could happen, someone could break in and enter the propery, a fire could break out, in fact, anything could happen.

If you leave a child alone for a considerable time and neighbours notice this, then they could report you and you could possibly face charges of neglect.

There have been a number of instances in the UK whereby a parent, or parents, have gone off on a foreign holiday and left their children to fend for themselves. This is taking things to the extreme and the parents have had to pay the penalty through the courts.

I have included a link: Times Online. Although it is aimed at the West and the UK, it will allow you insight as to what the perils are as regards leaving children at home alone. I hope it helps.

  6. Many moons ago, I was a supermarket/superstore manager, but not with Tesco. However, I am aware that there are trade 'get out' clauses/requirements, not only Tesco, but any other company. I remember there being stipulations stating that 'Special Offer' products/prices are 'subject to availability'.

There are even clauses stating that some, or all of the special offers advertised may not apply to certain outlets/regions and 'Special Offer' products advertised/promoted may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

  7. Neeroys on Soi Chiapoon does an excellent english style fish & chips - 99bt... very nice.

I've had the fish and chips at Neeroys a couple of times and found the fish to be good but the batter is not crisp.

Must have been an off day for them

Neeroy's has nice crispy batter normally on their fish and they give you a pile of the batter scraps on the plate, along with the fries chips.

Two other places on Soi Chaiyapoon I would recommend for fish & chips:

-Canterbury Tales does a nice job.

-Seaside Two at the opposite end of the soi.

I just had lunch the other day at Simon's Fish & Chips, and was surprised to see that the large fish & chips with mushy peas is now B310 ... about nine US dollars(!). Quality was so-so: fish was fine, but not just the peas were mushy, the chips were as well.

I miss The Chippy that used to be around the corner inside Jomtien Complex by the Hideaway Bar.

That's a silly price for food in Pattaya IMO.

I can go out for a fish dinner here in the Midwest on a Friday night and get a salad, soup of the day, garlic bread and a huge plate of fish & chips for EIGHT DOLLARS! :D Good quality food all the way in a pleasant setting.

Considering wages, taxes, utility costs and overhead there is something wrong with that picture! :o

    Serious???!!! That's over 6 quid.

This is what it costs in Peterhead at a national award-winning chippie.

Someone is taking the mickey here.

Even cheaper still here >> http://www.thinkseniors.com/mainT.htm another National Award Winner Chippie near Fleetwood, near Blackpool . I have just read this thread, eating, yes, you have guessed it !

Fish and Chips at their finest, yummy :D

  8. I think he had a good reason to make this thread - to let other people know about the Banglamung dental clinic. Some of us get ripped off in Pattaya, I for one needed a Tooth pulling out, I was in absolute agony, the Dentist knew this, and quoted me One Thousand Baht, I was desperate, but next time after reading this thread i am off to Banglamung, sounds good to me, even if i only want them cleaning, which many of us need from time to time.

If you want to save money try cleaning them three times a day, cut out sweet things.

If you want to save money pulling them out, tie a peace of string to the door handle attach it to your tooth and wait for someone to open the door. :D

Yeah Yeah, my dad use to say that. hahaha :o

Now that the UK has suffered the loss of the majority of NHS Dentists, it has only been reported in the National Press this week, that the numbers of people extracting their own teeth by means of a piece of string attached to a door handle has increased x 1000s' fold.
