And by trolling I can only assume you mean disagreeing? Maybe by not starting a post with "No one ever...." when offering your personal, yet limited experience on a matter may help with people constantly disagreeing with you. The forum is to help people with information. Non factual information passed as factual through phrasing should be called to attention for the good of others.
To the OP, you mentioned there is a delay in the engine starting to rev after you twist the throttle. Depending on how the throttle feels it may be a poorly adjusted throttle cable (if it isn't electronic fly by wire on a new model.. I'm not sure). One quick test you could do it to rotate the throttle a very small amount with the engine running. Just a little rotation. Hold it there. Does the engine begin to rev?
If no, turn the throttle another very small amount and hold it. Keep repeating until you get an increase in revs on the engine. Let us know the outcome. The amount the throttle turns before the engine revs more should be 2-3mm in relation to the right hand fixed plastic switch cluster. You could use a pencil or chalk to mark the throttle grip and the switch to check. If the distance is more than 2-3mm, then you will not be getting full throttle and that may explain your lack of perceived power.
There can be other issues with the FI actuator but that would be fairly uncommon. New engines, as another poster mentioned earlier do 'loosen up' after run in and rev more freely but there shouldn't be a delay in revving up.
Check the throttle and let us know. If that is out of spec, you can then go back to a Honda dealer letting them know that the throttle freeplay is not in spec and they will assess from there. Going to see them with a specific and easily identifiable issue is can be better than saying "my bike doesn't go fast enough or has no power."

Hello, I did the test as suggested. There is some play in the throttle hand grip, more than 2 or 3mm, but once some tension comes on it the engine immediately responds. Not sure if that play is normal or not. Or is that the play you suggest could be the source of the problem?

That's some heavy reading. I notice they never talk about "power." Only fuel consumption, economy, clean exhaust, etc... I'm all for those things but, well.....

I checked the rear brake. Def not dragging. Skeptic 7 seems to have the same issues. Will try and get to the Honda shop this week and report back.

I briefly touched on re-entry permits with Ubon Joe in a topic yesterday but failed to ask what is required to get one. I may go to immigration in Chiang Mai before my flight or if I am lazy and risk-prone I may just opt to get one at the airport before flying out of Suwannaphumi. What is required, please? (I have an 0 visa based on marriage).

On another note, is it really so hard to take off the fuel injection kit and slap on a carb, if one were so inclined?

My Dream is from 2008 so must have been on the tail end of the carb era.

Don't which both have the same engine, the Dream and the Wave? Hmm, same size engine, yes, but diff fuel delivery. I don't know about any other changes. I would think something changed in 11 years! haven't THEY managed to squeeze ever more umph out of smaller and smaller engines, kind of sort of?

...Looks like I have my work cut out for me this week! I've been away for the last two months and so I have not had a chance to deal with it. And the wife does not notice any lack of power. But now...look out Honda mechanics of Chiang Mai.

The Dream did not have an "i" after it. It was just standard issue.
I bought the Wave brand new. I will try another mechanic I just wasn't sure if there was anything wrong or not. One would think being new that it was all sorted. It ain't easy trying to find a good mechanic and takes time. Lot's of people say their mechanic is great. In my experience, that has not been the case. They all have differing opinions on how to fix a problem and usually they can't fix it. But tell you it' is indeed fixed.
I may end up going with the Click if this one cannot be repaired to my liking. But as mentioned, we liked the manual because of the stance and handling of the bike and bigger wheels. But the Click is pretty nice, too.
I do not need to go 100 or faster. That was just a test I did as I knew what I had done in the Dream when it was new.

Hmm not sure what a CV transmission is and if I have one or not. I'll check the manual. I have to shift the gears with my foot but there isn't a clutch (not a manual one at least). But that wouldn't account for my lame top speed, would it? I mean, it is almost hard to drive for lack of power. When you want to power out of a turn or give it a goose to stabilize the bike it doesn't respond. Or to get out of oncoming traffic. I HATE the thing as it now stands.
As for auto bikes, they are much quicker off the line in my experience. It may be due to gearing and the smaller wheels.
Even in Italy where I lived for a spell they looked at me cross-eyed when I wanted to test drive a new car before buying it. They let me but it wasn't the norm. Yeah, not sure how they get away with no testing. Ridiculous!

I'll check that brake, thanks. As you know, the mechanics here never want to investigate and usually tell you there isn't a problem. But I will go back and try again. Yeah, the barely getting to 100km seemed pretty telling to me, too. At least now I have some numbers to throw around rather than just "it FEELS slow."
I'll report back.
I love the CLick acceleration, almost to the point it's dangerous as it's easy to "lunge" around and get into trouble. I like the bigger wheels on the Wave.

Thanks guys. I had actually rented the Click expressly to test drive it and it was super fast. But then I didn't follow through and rent a Wave but I'll bet it's not easy to find one to rent as most shops rent new automatic bikes. I don't think the brakes are dragging. What is strange is that there is a delay when you give it gas even in neutral. And then a delay for the engine to rev up. It's just so frustrating. For a weird analogy, it's like all the mechanics of the bike are wearing mittens and ear mufflers. It all just seems so dulled....though the bike looks fantastic, IMO. I've attached a pic of the grey and red one though we have it in black and red.

A few months ago I purchased a new Honda Wave 125cc. I have had a Honda Dream 125cc for over 10 years that I was quite happy with but it was time for an upgrade. This being Thailand, I was not able to test drive the new Wave before buying but it LOOKED like it was fast and quick and being NEW I assumed it would be as peppy or peppier than the 11 year old Dream. I had also recently ridden a Click 125 which was very responsive but both my wife and I like the handling and ride of the manual bikes.
Instead, the new Wave is a dog. I curse every time I am on it for lack of responsiveness and in fact feel vulnerable pulling in to traffic. It's sort of kind of maybe ok with one person on it but with my wife and I together it is just a dog. I didn't realize how much bigger and heavier it is than the old Dream before purchasing it which may be a big part of the issue. However, does anyone else have this experience? The mechanic laughs at me and my concerns that maybe something is amiss with the mechanics. I am thinking of getting rid of it rather than put up with 10 years of cursing. Anyone have any input? It's hard for me to believe Honda would put out such a slow machine.

Hiya folks, please lend me your expertise. I just re-entered Thailand on May 29 with my multiple entry O visa based on marriage expiring on May 30. I got a new 90 days as expected and so far so good. On July 1st, I will be leaving the country again for 2 weeks. So upon my return I believe I will be without a visa. And here starts my question.
Can I get a re-entry stamp/permit/extension/whatchamacallit before leaving which will keep my 90 days (that started on May 29) live?
Or, do I come in on a 30 day stamp (and if so do I need an exit ticket?) and re-exit in that 30 day period to do my visa (HCMC or Savannakhet)?
Or, do I need to hustle now and do the visa before July 1? (not keen on the necessary "hustle")
Or....? Any other ideas?
