Yeah right maybe I should have asked a more intelligent question eg. where can I find the best burger or what is the best tooth paste to use :)

Why not :D this forum is slowly turning into a boring where can I get ?

    Yawn yawn ,

is this the fault of the search engine or the people not looking at back posts ?

  3. Well they are not kept for pets are they lol

They are raised for their meat which local butchers and markets buy at Auctions .

You can by Beef at any market I have been to plus the local meat man that drives around the Estates sells it.

If you live near Rangsit go to Talad Thai market and you will see stalls of the stuff.

  4. is it true that 90% of all email now is spam.

This is from my e-mail server at the university.

Spam received 58,117 Spam rate 88.47%

Virus infected emails 146 Infection rate 0.22%

Isn't the internet a wonderful medium.

Yes it saves 1,000's that they would have to pay on stamps

  5. this has maybe nothing to do with False degrees Colino.

How did the Immigration find out that these people had no work permits and also were they working full time or part time at the school?

Many language institutions in Bangkok have teachers on their payrolls working at schools, most of these do not have work permits and have tourist visas, is there going to be another crack down?

If so, many language institutes will be closing down after receiving hefty fines.

Sorry I know its not about fake degrees but just thought that it could be an insight to fines or charges.

At a Goverment school I worked at they caught a guy on the payroll with no work permit because the schools finance books showed payments to him and no tax payed, its normaly Agents that take on teachers with tourist visas.

The other story goes that every now and then the Immigration bods pay a visit to Kao San road and pick up a few names from the touts selling the fakes.

I have taught with stacks of teachers with tourist visas and 1 even had 3 year overstay

    sheer madness,,,,colino

  6. Working without a WP is a serious offensive. It carries a jail term of up to 5 years under the new labour law. The regulations are how ever so that paying a fine is encouraged with subsequent deportation. Being on a retirement visa or being marreid to a Thai antional is of no consideration.

This is why I gave up a good job when they did not give me my WP I am married with two kids a house plus a new pick up,,, to much to lose just for 40,000 baht a month.

I was told the same as mario . Being married to a Thai makes no difference the law is the law, and working without the right Visa and WP is breaking the law.

  7. A group of teachers at a private Thai school in Bangkok have been summonsed to immigration for not having work permits. They are on their way to Suan Phlu now. Does anyone know what is likely to happen. Should they bail out of the car!!! At least one is on a retirement visa, others are on marriage visas.

They could be arrested and fined then deported,

    Please keep us posted

    best of luck ,colino

  8. Well i flew out from Bangkok to KL that was a good flight , the air crew are really nice but the food was rubbish,

I landed at KL it was great to get 90 days on arrival visa and just a small stamp in my pasport, instead of losing a whole page, and no one hassling you outside it was so nice

So I had 5 hours to wait for my flight to the UK , what was good is that when i went to change some cash there was no lower limit so i only changed 5 pounds , and this was plenty for the airport , Mc ds breakfast with coffee refills was cheap,

Check in was a breeze but lots of security checks , the Departure lounge is not that good ( tip in the smoking room are two plug sockets to recharge the laptop).

The flight left on time and was 90% full, the food was again rubbish international meal was chicken sheperds pie ? coffee and tea was 4MYR water was 2 MYR,the movie players are 30MYR but as said before not great movies 14 hours on there felt like for ever but landed 15mins early at stanstead,

All in all it was ok but make sure you have lots of MYR as the exchange rate on the plane was crazy, also i did not have any problem taking food on board its very basic and cheap, on a budget its a good way to fly,,

  11. Its ok folks i did lol

I deleted that file and re installed windows and now i have my prefetch files back lol

I found this on the Microsoft website while looking but it did not do this on my PC,,

I a a new comer to computers and I do not know how and why my prefetch files were deleted. I understand that prefetch files help speed up the start process. What must I do to restore my prefetch files and that the files won't be deleted everytime I shutdown my computer. My computer runs on centrino duo, 64 bit and its OS is Vista Ultimate.

    REPLY from microsoft

Thank you for posting. There's no need to worry. Prefetch rebuilds itself over time and usage. You should see the prefetch folder have files added to it as you use your computer and open and run more programs. It should be back to normal in about a week as long as it doesn't get deleted again. You might want to check to see if you have any 3rd party programs that might be deleting the prefetch folder's files if you didn't manually delete them.

Please let me know if this helps you.

Ok picked up my disk but cant get it to do this

To use sfc /scannow, you need the original Windows Xp CD.

While insert CD and hold the Shift Key down to prevent it from starting.

    Click Start > Run

in the box type: sfc /scannow

when i try and re install xp says cant install over microsoft powershell 1.0

can i delete this safely please please only tell me if you really know the answer

    Thanks colino

this hole i am digging is getting deeper lol

  13. it happens at any restore point or even when i have to re boot from windows update

its a 100% original xp but i dont have the disk lol

I will get it tomorrow and give it a go thanks ,, I am more worried about the daft way i have to start it sometimes

Then most likely system restore is damaged and you need to repair XP.

If you repair your windows with your original CD all restore points are gone!

You mention you've got no CD to run a repair so I cant help. Maybe someone

is able to assist you. There are certain "rescue disks" available in some well known IT malls in Bangkok...

Thanks webfact i will pick up my xp disk later and will try the repair option ,,

    fingers crossed lol,,

    thank you for your time
