BREAKING NEWS Skyscraper comes down in Bangkok earthquake
JonnyF replied to MalcolmB's topic in Bangkok News
Wouldn't want to be swimming in this one when it happened. It was pretty strong where I was. https://www.bbc.com/news/videos/c20d0nxr2lmo -
Yeah it's looks like the one that came down in Chatujak. Videos of it collapsing are on X. Terrible, I hope no construction workers would have been in there but there were plenty stood nearby outside so it seems likely.

My monitor nearly fell off my desk.

I wouldn't call the Covid years "sunny uplands" but the economy was recovering well until Labour started destroying it. https://www.fxstreet.com/analysis/uk-economy-slows-sharply-in-january-video-202503141915 -

Not if they buy locally manufactured vehicles. Which is better for the US economy and better for the environment. -
Labour MPs Block Ban on Chinese Solar Panels Linked to Forced Labour

No surprise. It's decades since Labour cared about the plight of lowly workers, British or otherwise. They are the party of the left wing globalist elites. -

Trump Tariff Turmoil: Thai Car Market Skids to a Halt
JonnyF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It would help if they released some new exciting models instead of trotting out the same old models with a "minor change". I was going to go to the Bangkok motor show this weekend but having watched a few YouTube videos there is nothing much to see except some Chinese EV tat, a Fortuner with big wheel arches and a Hilux still on a 20 year old platform. -

UK under Labour is a disaster. UK under Labour while still in the EU would have been catastrophic. -

The only question is when other manufacturers will do the same thing. As Thailand shows, tariffs on imports creates a huge market for domestically produced vehicles.

You wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you in the chops. Even if you did, you'd pretend to believe something else. So if you have any evidence of Trump being a racist KKK and Nazi sympathizer, let's see it. -

It's up to the UK to do a deal isn't it. Let's see what Starmer's got. Should be a lot easier now we are out of the protectionist racket that is the EU. Trump is reasonable. He just wants fair terms. If Lammy and Starmer can stop calling him a fascist Nazi KKK sympathizer for a few hours I'm sure they can work something out. If Labour keep sucking up to the EU and ignoring Trump they deserve everything they get. As do those who voted Labour. Ultimately, whatever this costs the UK economy Starmer can easily recoup it by reducing foreign aid and illegal immigration anyway. Up to him. Let's see what he does for the people of Britain. It's a good test and one that is easily passed. So Starmer will probably fail. So yes, I am glad to see Trump stick it to the UK government and the EU. They deserve it. And to be frank, why should I care about a country that now officially discriminates against me in a 2 tier justice system. F em.
