Who cares what Joe does? China plays the long, intelligent game. The US on the other hand gets heavily involved until it all becomes too difficult, or a different party is elected and changes direction. Then they simply pull out leaving a huge mess behind them. Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan are good examples. China won't be too worried about the US. If they can't/won't defend Ukraine they're hardly going to go out on a limb for Taiwan.
