Wow Farage has some pull. He’s even got you repeating the slogan. Nice one Nige.

Don’t panic. I dislike lazy work shy grifters of all nationalities, both sexes, all races equally. I only care about character. That’s where we differ. Thankfully.

Controlled immigration is fine. Open borders? Not so much. That is certainly a rabbit hole in the current toxic environment. Some might say that Asians are well known to have a very high work ethic and also generally law abiding but I wouldn't be so foolish as to offer an opinion on that.

You're welcome. Always happy to help. Yes, my Thai salary and the amount I send back to the UK every month has increased by the same 20%. I wouldn't be so crass as to put a sterling amount on it but over 7 years it's been significant. The value of my UK rental properties have increased by around 40% since 2016 as well. So it's not all bad.

Time will tell. Early indications are very promising. An interesting opinion. Any evidence to back that up? Not really taking pleasure. I have no issue with the citizens of EU countries in fact I wish them well, it's the EU that I dislike. Given the way the EU politicians treated us following the decision to leave, their failures don't keep me awake at night. That's the problem with treating neighbours so badly, some of them have long memories they might not end up liking you very much.

Lazy workshy Brits on benefits. We'll get to that.

It seems quite a few things are a mystery to you. Allow me to explain the situation. Brexit gave the government the powers to control immigration. The government have done a poor job of utilizing those powers (so far), but the powers remain. The fault is with the government, not with Brexit.
-
That is a failing of the Conservative government. Not of Brexit.

I already posted the actual results from The Financial Times. I have little faith in the OBR. They don't even have faith in themselves. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11452293/OBR-chief-admits-forecasts-certain-wrong-Tories-seethe-tax-rises.html

Predictions. We all know how the doomsday predictions during Project Fear turned out. Let's not take the OBR too seriously, their guesses might end up as inaccurate as The Bank of England's...

Absolutely. Reaping the rewards for decades to come while the EU drowns in it's failing economy and corrupt Parliament. https://www.ft.com/content/3034d39c-118a-44d3-b9bf-6482b786018f https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2023/04/14/who-is-who-in-the-european-parliament-corruption-scandal Those are the type of consequences I like.

I trust you read my link above.

Clutching at straws... What was it Project Fear said? 8% loss in GDP? ???? Yet here we are doing just fine. Predicted to do better than Germany of all countries, the powerhouse of the EU. They were lies, and thankfully 52% of British voters at the referendum ignored them. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-05-23/imf-upgrades-uk-growth-but-warns-rates-may-need-to-rise-further#xj4y7vzkg Dear oh dear.

Farage wanted the hardest of hard Brexits. Harder than a machete wielding Honey Badger named Hardman McHard. He probably sees ways that we could have distanced ourselves further from the EU and hence sees some missed opportunities. One man's opinion. Interesting to see you and Farage in agreement though. Like 2 peas in a pod. Great point. Except of course, for the inconvenient fact that it HAS recovered to pre-pandemic levels.???? https://www.ft.com/content/af5820bf-0af6-4228-8223-4cb79cc5a6d6

Better than many EU countries. Meaning that leaving the EU is not the cause of low growth, but rather the worldwide economic slowdown caused by Covid lockdowns and the war in Ukraine. Project Fear has been proved to be a lie.

31% of Thais eye battery electric vehicles as next car choice
JonnyF replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I drove a friend's Audi E-Tron last summer. Very nice car, very quick. But for the 98,000 pounds it cost I would probably have preferred an ICE vehicle of the same price. They do lack a lot of character IMO, compared to something like a large V6 or V8, or even a smaller turbo charged engine. I wonder how that will change when these 31% of Thais actually buy one. They'll fill up the charging stations pretty quick. How will the electricity grid cope? Will the price of Petrol and Diesel fall due to the reduced demand? Will the price of electricity rise due to increased demand. All things to consider. I'm not against EV's (currently have a Hybrid), I just think 100% electric cars are best suited to people doing short trips in cities (or as a second car) rather than as your only mode of transport that you use for everything. I'll give it another few years and see where the land lies. -
31% of Thais eye battery electric vehicles as next car choice

I have a Camry Hybrid but I wouldn't go full electric yet. The range is too short (it's a 600km round trip to my farm), charging too difficult (I spend weekdays at my condo in Bangkok - no charging devices there) and I am not convinced they are actually good for the environment given the resources required to build them and to produce the electricity to charge them. My next 4 wheeled vehicle will be a truck and I'll be going Diesel. I have nothing against electric vehicles per se but I think the current technology is best suited to smaller vehicles like mountain bikes or scooters. I have an electric mountain bike which I use to ride to the MRT station and it's great for that purpose (short city trips) but the limited range and charging time means that is all I use it for. I quite fancy a Stark Varg or a Sur Ron Ultra Bee for playing around at the farm, but again I wouldn't be selling my ICE dirt bikes. -
Meanwhile, back in reality Brexit Britain's outlook is rosy. https://news.yahoo.com/imf-says-uk-economy-grow-093137901.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAANJFCyfovZjyQ4stWXqf2wdKH4uHhGHyCGG_A7GmKvdVV7tyZ1NJfheh1LRKWje4O3GYnZVt1FSTmni9DY5quePpgFyv9n7IBRb4NL6K31jR3Fa7etMqaLc4DsSTN2gt9YmzgS6h4RDJExzVZBuRmaYs5FoxMoj4LmbY4Rk6Z0AC Farage is correct in some ways, the benefits of Brexit could have been so much better had we negotiated better after the vote. Unfortunately we had traitor Remainers like Thereas May giving up everything to the EU before we'd even started. Many opportunities lost. But even after being sold out by some of our own bitter countrymen, we are better out of the failing corrupt federalist project.

Target removes some LGBTQ products after threats
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
But then they'd be labelled anti LGBT fascist terrorists, as we've already seen on this thread. You see only one side of the argument is allowed. Same as the BLM supporting players taking the knee at the World Cup. Had they pledged allegiance to something less marxist, they'd have been banned. Massive double standards. I hope Target loses as much value as Bud Light did with the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco. It was 15 Billion last time I looked. That's what happens when you try to "educate" your customer base. Go Woke, Go Broke. Selling children's books called "Bye Bye Binary"? Whoever made that decision needs sacking. Let kids be kids for god's sake, not try to encourage them to switch gender identity before they even grow up. -
Whilst I agree with some of your post, I definitely disagree with the part quoted above. The reason I say that is that the woman's comments were not even aimed at the Thais nor meant to insult them. They were intended to insult the owner of the PitBull for not taking care of the dog properly. So it was a long way from telling the Thais "F-off back to where you come from you dog eating scum" as you alluded. It was more akin to "if you can't be bothered to look after your dog properly why not give it up to the Thai restaurant for dog meat". Of course, it was a stereotype assuming that since they are Thai they must eat dog meat but it wasn't intended to insult the Thais, they were simply used as a stick to beat the PitBull owner with. A lazy stereotype? Arguably, although since some Thais do eat dogs you could argue that like many stereotypes there is some truth to it. Racist? No more racist than assuming an Englishman drinks lukewarm beer or a Frenchman eats frogs legs and snails. In other words, not racist at all.
