  1. I was so excited about the Turkey Dinner at the Villa Market I went back the very next day and tried it for lunch. It was FANTASTIC! It came with real roasted turkey and a large portion at that, mashed potatoes and gravy and an iceberg salad. The lettuce was the freshest I have EVER had in Thailand, not like the month old stuff you can get at Care Four. The grade for the meal was A+. I hope a lot or readers go by and give it a try so they can keep on the menu.

While I was there I notice their signs for hamburgers that stated they were made with REAL beef, so I will give it a try and report back in a few days. I so hope to find a great hamburger here, up to know the Whopper was the best I have been able to find, which is not bad, but not like a real homemade burger.

I was not going to buy anything in the market, but decided to walk around the store anyway to check out what they had. And to my great surprise, they carry CLAUSSEN pickles, the best pickle ever made. So I got a cart and went shopping. They also carry JONES breakfast sausage; finally a real sausage is available in Thailand. No Jimmy Dean, but Jones is not bad. They also had real DORITOS, the first time I have been able to find that. Now if they start stocking Wise BBQ potato chips and Fritos I would really be in hog's heaven.

The store was not that busy and I am sure they are paying an arm and a leg for rent, so I truly wish them the best of luck and hope it takes off. The store is well laid out with plenty of space between the isles; also it is clean and bright. Hopefully with View Talay 6 finished now they will start getting a regular client base.

i had the burger there, it was as described and was a pretty good effort.

my missis had the ribs and needed a doggy bag the rack was so big.

  2. Looking for a fun budget option? Try Le Petite Planete on the soi next to TukCom off Pattaya Tai. They have tasty serviceable three course French set menus for about 220 baht, in a charming shophouse atmosphere with French themed painted murals. Also, they feature a special weekend special on the weekends.

TukCom runs between 2 Sois, which one is it on?

i have just been there for lunch, its on the soi on the sea side and it was very nice too.

for just 210 baht, i had a very tasty tomato soup with crisp french bread, goulash with mash with veg, raspberry pie and ice cream for afters i enjoyed good service in a nice atmosphere and in my view its highly recommended!

  3. despite decenters comments about the phone, it pees all over my other phone (an N95) plus it connects to my Kenwood in the car and plays songs and video through the sound system. also when wearing the bluetooth earpiece when driving and the phone rings, it fades the sound, pauses the song or video , the phone rings over the car sound system and beeps the earpiece, you answer it and then finish your call and up the song or vid comes back right where you left it. fantastic bit of kit, the GPS is twice as good as the Nokia (for free-no subs)and when you get direct access to websites that navigate like you are on the tower system at home, who needs WAP? once you have had one you will never go back ........

  4. i have had one for a month, after a lot of shopping around, talking to people and burning some bridges with people i had dealt with before who clearly didn't know whats involved with this phone in Thailand. i recommend Hot Telecom in Tuk Com Pattaya Thai. its in the middle of the mobile sales hall, not on the left side. he has been very helpful with minor problems, he is knowledgeable about the phone and the update firmware process of an illegally unlocked phone. it will take about an 1/2 hour to process to your contacts, pictures etc frok your old phone. get a scrathc guard on the touch screen and a rubber case, they do not like being dropped. do not pay until you are satisfied. i had to virtually snatch my cash back and run from a dealer in Big C. take care........ oh prices fluctuate daily dependant on supply but expect to pay 21-23,000baht. i hope that helps

  5. the best shop i know for this type of work, is group of guys who work in a small shop house, some are disabled in wheelchairs. they can fix almost anything. i often buy broken ex display goods from Big C or Carrefour and i know these guys will fix them. i have some stuff in there now. they are on Soi Bockau,(?) travelling towards the market area, they are on the right side after a patch of wasteland near a newly built hotel. almost opposite the excellent Pattaya books shop. the shop house is the last one and is recognisable by the ramp up to the doors for the wheelchair bound. i hope that helps.

  6. this sign is just another example of Pattaya councils style over substance money spending policy. personally i would rather they fix the roads, the drains, the sidewalks, the power outages, the water shortages, etc etc etc etc ......its not as glamerous or as noticeable but would benefit Pattaya a lot more in the end.

  7. happy birthday sir!, the king is the cornerstone of this country and i, as many other residents pray he lives for a great many more years. i watched his speech last night and it was wonderful to see him smile occasionally, he is often viewed as a very solemn, serious person so it was a real delight to see a broad smile which lit up his face.

on another related matter, the King must be the most photographed person in the world and be the most displayed picture in the world. i cannot think of another person whose images are seen in so many homes, businesses and public places.

surely there should be an entry in the Guiness book of records marking this?

anyone thought of submitting such a record for inclusion

  8. Try " Sam" at Saturday Night Accounting 038 252-766-7

    Crap name good service.

i have three companies overseen and formed by Sam, he is understanding, efficient and professional. 3 of my friends are with him too, i highly recommend him and his staff . he is on Threppasit road on the left going to Chomtien about 150 metres back from the traffic lights where they meet Thappraya Road. i have to go tommorrow to pay fees on one company. always a sad day........
  9. dual pricing is not exclusive to Thailand, in UK if you go to York, you pay for parking, the locals don't, when you go in the museums, it costs about a fiver, locals get in free. if you own a house in Florida USA you get reduced price concessions at all the theme parks. i am sure there are many more examples of dual pricing tourist/resident worldwide. its not just a Thai issue.

  10. i have to disagree with you, last night i put it to the test. i sat in the hideaway, ordered a cool beer, then ordered chicken tikka masala, onion nan, pilau rice, poppadoms and it was absolutely delicious. the bill was 270 baht and no gandhis revenge this morning (thank goodness). it is highly recommended to all.

Sorry, I am confused here. Was that from the Hideaway menu or from the Tikka place next door to the Hideaway?

the tikka place next door, is that what its called?

Are you a partner in the bar

no, only been there about half a dozen times, i live in North Pattaya on the Dark Side
  12. Sarah all the way. Mr. Wong is her brother in law, Sarah's husband used to work for Mr. Wong who is his brother. Mr. Wong was THE MAN for years but about three years ago went mental for reasons I do not know and is as likely to tell you to fuc_k off as not these days so Sarah all the way.
actually Mr Wong is Sarahs Brother not her brother in law.
  13. Sara is more consumer friendly and her husband is a much better techical repairer, Mr Wong is her brother and she doesn't even speak to him! he is an

arrogant asshol_e, with prices to match and whose command of the english language does include a number of familiar anglo saxon 'go away' phrases which he is happy to use liberally if you question him in any way about his ability or knowledge. stay away from Wong go to Sara. she is a pleasure to deal with
