  1. Gentlemen,

I have deleted several posts. This is supposed to be an informative thread, let's keep it that way.

Any more inane bikkering and warnings will get issues!

    Monty

i believe you mean bickering and what issues are these warnings likely to have?
  2. I was asking a more genearal question to the entire forum because several people seem to indicate the "big" savings at Siracha and Pantip. There is also the question of warranty if you purchase at a single shop in Pantip or Siracha. Do you have to back there for the repair?
i recall that i would normally save more than the fuel costs which at the time were minimal at 10-12 baht a litre. does time really matter when you are retired, sometimes its a pleasure just to get out of town. i did have a hard drive problem and had to return it to Siracha, also a later warranty P4 processor claim had to be dealt with at point of purchase in Siracha with receipt. its a good question and wether thats still the same now they have a branch in Pattaya Tukcom, i confess to having no idea. touch wood i have had no problems recently that demand putting it to the test
  3. Please enlighten me with how much you can save at Hardware House Siracha over Hardware House Pattaya. Hardware House prices are posted on the internet and their numerous shops tend to closely follow them, be it Pantip, Siracha or Pattaya.

Did you calculate the cost of petrol and the travel time into your savings?

i said in my post i built my original computer when Pattaya Tukcom did not exist so how could i compare prices?
  4. Just my thought for "all of the know it alls": If you think you know so much about computers and think Pattaya Tukcom IT is so bad, please travel to Pantip so that you can buy the same main stream items that are now sold in Pattaya, at about the same prices. True there may be some bargains at Pantip. You can also shop at Pattaya Wattana just to feel the comfort of the "good old days" of a small store and being overcharged for a small selection of somewhat outdated products. Siracha may sometimes have a little better price and if you don't mind several hours of travel to save a few baht, please drive to Siracha or Pantip. Maybe getting off the forums might help give some of you a LIFE.

Most of us are taking a more realistic approach that Tukcom has greatly improved the computer availabilty in Pattaya. IT HAS THE MAIN STREAM PARTS THAT MOST OF US NEED AND USE. I can build a top quality computer, with name brand parts, from what is available at Pattaya Hardware House or JIB, for Pantip prices. If you can't, then maybe you should keep your comments to yourself.

thanks for the advise, its good sensible advise to computer users in Pattaya, i did in fact build my computer with many parts from Hardware House in Siracha when Tuk Com Pattaya was just an ugly empty shell on Pattaya Thai. so i do qualify to be able to speak on the subject. one should note though as you have, that most parts are still cheaper in Siracha which is not several hours away, its about 30 minutes by car. i have asked the vendors in Pattaya who are featured in both Tuk com's, why the prices are higher than at their offices in Siracha TukCom, they say the rent is higher in Pattaya. that may well be true but i am sure the more cynical of you (including me) may assume that its a greater presence of the farang in pattaya that commands higher prices. even powerbuy, a national electrical retailer charges more for some items in Pattaya. i know this, i have compared the same item on the same day. are they overcharging gullible farangs? you decide.
  5. MOD close this topic it is getting a little more than ridiculous.

    LSM

perhaps you would like to add something more to your statement, some contribution of a little worth, possibly a statement of some note that we could all learn from, maybe something from you about computers and their relative sources, a study of comparative shopping in Thailand to avoid being ripped off or even something as oblique to this post about computers, as wheels for a car. Just a brief snippet of information from your wealth of knowledge, that other members may benefit from or at the very worst, maybe give us the LSM definition of what you consider is ''more than ridiculous''? about this thread. i am sure we are all breathless with anticipation to read your response...........
  6. looks like you missed something, there is another Tuk Com in Siracha and another contributor stated that it was cheaper in Tuk Com Siracha than for the same goods in Tuk Com Pattaya. i concurred on the computer aspect of being cheaper there as i had saved money on many occasions than i expanded the subject slightly to point out most goods are substantially cheaper in Siracha than in Pattaya and gave a set of alloy wheels as an example of how much cheaper and how much could be saved by going to Siracha. happy now?

I'm still perplexed as the post is about computers and you appear to be posting about mag wheels which as far as I'm aware aren't available at Tuk Com Sri Racha.......don't 'bout you, but that seems pretty oblique to me.

PS - No need to worry about my state of happiness as I have that relatively under control these days.

i'll not continue further then to add to your perplexedness, i thought i was giving helpful money saving advice to those who had maybe never even heard of Siracha, clearly you do not need advise.........from anyone. if nit picking at posts makes you happy, so be it. small things amuse small minds
  7. Ayuttaya is quite a drive, i have done it myself so expect about 5 hours journey time. i use a guy that does pat/bkk/waits 2 hours/patt for 2000 (good for Embassy visits when i am too lazy to take my own car and drive) so i would have thought you might be looking around 2500b to Ayuttaya in his car. driver only, don't know?

  8. Chanman, sometimes it's best to just quietly observe and say nothing, hence i quote from your magnificent first post ever ''I am new on the board but have been lurking for a long while..'' i suggest you go back to lurking before inflicting your inaccurate, offensive, chastising, holier than thou generalisations upon the rest of us. its you who should be reported to the moderators for flaming and trolling. so in the future please do ignore me, its clear you find my contributions to the board far too complicated for you to read correctly, interpret accurately or respond sensibly to without making numerous errors. you won't be missed.

  9. looks like you missed something, there is another Tuk Com in Siracha and another contributor stated that it was cheaper in Tuk Com Siracha than for the same goods in Tuk Com Pattaya. i concurred on the computer aspect of being cheaper there as i had saved money on many occasions than i expanded the subject slightly to point out most goods are substantially cheaper in Siracha than in Pattaya and gave a set of alloy wheels as an example of how much cheaper and how much could be saved by going to Siracha. happy now?

  10. i concur on the Siracha trip, almost everything is cheaper there than in Pattaya, i saved 20,000 baht on exactly the same set of wheels for my car on the best price i could get in Pattaya. save 20K for a trip of 20 miles? yes please, i would walk it for that!

  11. I'm not against it at all, loved it while it was fun for me just after 10 years of it its not so much fun any more, 2 days would be 5-7 days too much for me thats all. Sure everone here who plays will enjoy it and I hope you all do, even you TK :o
thanks for the special wishes, i will grow my beer belly and hope i qualify to join in (by the way do you know whats under a ponys tail? ..........an arsehol_e)

Personal insults not really called for.. moderators?

it was not intended as an insult to you or anyone here, its a statement of fact. please read carefully i said under a ponys tail is an arsehol_e, arsehol_e is not even considered a rude word, in fact you can find it s description here WordNet - Cite This Source - Share This arsehol_e

nounvulgar slang for anus [syn: arse]

however if the cap fits and you feel the need to run crying to the moderators then go right ahead.

  12. No 2 seperate and I apologise for my typo I was refering to Soi Diamond rather than Soi Diana.

If your life is in danger I sugest hitting anyone I was however refeing to non life threatening situations and again would apologise for the non clarity.

for one who seeks accuracy and admonishes others for not being so, you are not doing so good yourself are you? also one wonders about your 360 degree opinion rotations. first you say'' Where I was brought up there is NO excuse what so ever for a guy hitting a girl, that I am sure most will agree with.'' now you say ''If your life is in danger I sugest hitting anyone I was however refeing to non life threatening situations'' so which is it? exactly when is it acceptable to hit a girl from your lofty view of the world? i thought there was ''NO excuse what so ever''

  14. Time to book a holiday, :o the novelty has worn of after 10 years or beer bellied guys soaking everyone in sight for a week, could cope if it was just a few days like everywhere else.
Songkran is only for beer bellied guys then? how do you qualify to join in? is there a minimum beer belly measurement? how big is the minimum? is it regulated by the government? if so i expect there will be a fee to pay, (to play) are there enough Thais with big enough beer bellies? i always thought it was a Thai festival to celebrate the New Year? my guide book must be wrong, thanks for the heads up!
  15. as you are a newbie and i am not, i do not need you to tell me any of that. i stand by my ''comment''

Common sense has nothing to do with the length of time one has been a member or posts on a forum, I ask your again were you there?, if so then I would suggest that you were not watching what happened.

Irrespective of if a guy deserves a whack or not, the fact that the guy is in coma, suggests that it was far more than just a slight tap.

There are 2 separate incidents being discussed here and I cannot say what happened in both, however the above is not necessarily true, A single punch if it is in the wrong place can kill or maim, there are many such recorded incidences.

I can state that the Soi Diana incident was provoked, this guy punched a Thai Girl in the face in a bar, when 2 more Thai girls intervened he assaulted them also. He was then given a good beating by the Thai Staff and friends.

As for the Norwegian I do not know of the circumstances so will not comment.

Where I was brought up there is NO excuse what so ever for a guy hitting a girl, that I am sure most will agree with.

''There are 2 separate incidents being discussed here'' open your eyes Chanman there are x3 incidents being discussed here

despite accusing me that ''I would suggest that you were not watching what happened'' it appears you do not read so well or see too well yourself, the Soi in question where the incident occured and was clearly written in my message was Soi Diamond NOT an incident in Soi Diana you seem to be referring to. as to hitting a girl, clearly you have not been there to know. i intervened between a man and wife in UK, he was beating the sh*t out of her. i was stabbed by her for my trouble. did i hit her? yes. is that excuse enough for you? or anyone here?
  17. I heard of another more serious incident on Walking st last night?

I think i'll wait to see if its on the news before speaking incase its incorrect. :o

It is but might not make the news :D

Had a feeling about that hence me not saying anymore on the matter. :D

mayebe you are referring to a lone farang beaten by a bunch of cowardly thais in Soi Diamond

So u were there then? if not I would not comment. second hand information is not reliable.

  19. i always use Jo at travel ideas, i have done so for 3 years, they are opposite friendship on Pattaya Thai. they offer excellent personal service, competitive prices, understand english well and are able to absorb difficult and abnormal trip requirements

they get my vote 100%, i have tried others on odd occassions and these are by far the best in my humble opinion
