  1. Soi 15 (Chalermprakiat) is an unusual choice of street for your average tourist to be walking down at 4:30am. I don't think there are any bars on that street. There are some apartments though. Maybe he was trying to score something, crystal meth, perhaps.

There are a few bars on Soi 15,hundreds of apartments and condos(and more to come) and a few hotels.Hardly a dark, dodgy back alley for drug deals.

  2. If you can't even walk around safely in the early hours of the morning near Soi Bukow- then things are getting desperatesad.png

You seem to have not around for only a short

    time

5-7 years ago Soi 15 was the darkest and quiet Soi's in South Pattaya

With all the new hotel and Condos building there and the Avenue shopping centre it has become very safe

so Soi 15 is 100 time safer toder than it was a short time ago

so not so desperate is it

I live on this Soi and walk along iy every nigh and feel very safe

I think this was a robbery at oppertunity

any one walking down this Soi at this time of the morning with expensive Gold is asking for problem even on Beach Rd

My experience there too living on this Soi for nearly a year now.Wouldnt be surprised if this robbery happened on the shortcut road between Soi Diana and Soi 15.Very dark and no people around there at night.

  3. As is Thaivisa style, launch upon the supposed victim instantly and by cynical and negative.

Pretty good indication of the kind of mentality of the people here.

Compassion and concern is left to the normal folks.

So who is the "normal" folks ?

    Shit.

I should have factored in possible psydo-psychoanalysts who would jump on the "what is normal?" bandwagon. Silly me.

Ok..how about "compassion and concern is left to those who one might consider as having sound mind, who is in possession of all one's faculties, and meets generalised established social skills". I dunno, insert whatever you like.. (or maybe in this case its more about removing..but that would start a mudslinging match, so ill leave it at that.)

Edit: i know this is rather petty to point out, and i am certainly no Grammar guru, but what you should have written was "So who ARE the "normal" folks?. I realise others will pull up my grammatical errors, if they are petty also, and im prepared for that!

You know what? After reading through your psychoanalyst mumbo-jumbo and correcting my grammar (English is not my native language BTW) I would just say this : I`ll save my compassion with the ones who needs it and stupid holidaymakers who makes fools of themselves and blame others, thus creating sensational headlines here and abroad and with those actions tarnishes the little that is left of this islands reputation, for those I have NONE compassion whatsoever !!

  4. For it is a miracle that still tourists choose to visit Thailand.
It is not unlikely that you as a tourist get robbed or you became a victim of fraud. The Thai believe that they can have some of the big wallet farang. So that nice souvenir suddenly cost you 2 till 10 times the price. Even me, who wanted to buy a piece of sticker paper (35bt) cost suddenly 300 bt. I know what to do, but do you know?
More worse are the very violent robberies of tuktuk drivers who force clients to pay 10 times as normal, which is compared with extreme violence as well.
And what about mr. police officer? Often you have "I no speak english". Plus the law seems to be different in every city.......
After 10 years I have leaned to avoid places as Pattaya. No good at all.
Is it true that every day a farang dies? Yes, I think so, an average of one a day.
Accidents are accidents, but HOW did they occur? Killed by a waterscooter? Your bus drove of the edge? You simply cross the street, while the cars had a red stop sign? Oh... you taxi van driver took drugs? Oh so sad. :-(
No, responsibility is a nasty word in Thailand.
The government does noting at all... were just.... the... oh farang, the alien.
Nothing is arranged and when there is a new Law, no Thai will comply to it. The taxi vans have a speed limit of 90km/h......hahahahhaahahahah NOBODY drive 90km/h. It is forbidden to call while you drive.... ahahhahahahahaahha.... every Thai call while he drive. And so, I can tell you many other things which do not help safty.

Im surprised that you you will visit Thailand at all........it seems like a warsone the way you describes it.

And don`t you think that if Thailands neighbours suddenly got an rise in mass tourism you will get a lot of the same problems there as the ones you mention for Thailand above?

  5. It`s a big difference between "it never happen" or that drink spiking being "endemic" wouldn`t you agree whistling.gif ?

In my 20 years here I`ve never heard of or experienced drink spiking, neither has my friends......................only a few members here on TV claims to been a victim of that.................again,it doesn`t make it endemic.

    It could equally mean either/or

    1. You don't go to clubs much.

    2. You don't look like you carry much cash in your wallet.

    3. You aren't an attractive young female anyone would want to rape.

These are the drink spiking target victims.

If you are an old guy who thinks excitement is a hot cocoa before bed, you won't have experienced it.

    1. I do often frequent clubs

    2. I do

    3. True

"If you are an old guy who thinks excitement is a hot cocoa before bed, you won't have experienced it."...................Im 49 usually enjoying or beer or 2 before hitting the bed in the morning thumbsup.gif

Let`s wait for the outcome for the tox screening done here.My bet it will fizzle out to nothing as all other cases here, because there is nothing to be found in the samples.

  6. It`s more people in the city now thats for sure.Left Pattaya in mid october and was then able to cross both Second - and Beach road without problem and the pavements was easy to walk on to.Came back again last week and what a difference it is now...........time to spend the rest of the high season in and around Soi Bukhao thumbsup.gif .

  7. Not another "I made a fool of myself on holiday because my drinks where spiked" story bah.gif !! Just as believeable as the "I wasn`t aware that those drugs where in my suitcase,honest"-stories.

Drink spiking is endemic in Thailand.

They spike the drink, then follow you when you wander off, on your own, for either rape or robbery.

In my case in CM, after my one and only trip to Spicey, robbery of my wallet.

It's also happened to a couple of my pals.

But according to some 'experts' earlier posts, it never happens here.

  8. this morning another one security told it is a krait snake

they will look around for a nest

If he means the snake in the pic of the pics in the OP,then the security guy is wrong, but it`s easy to confuse them because they both have bands.

  9. A 100 man team surrounded the 10 house compound, and one guy escapes?

Yupp, and this always seem to happens.Usually armed forces adapt to an hostile enviroment and improves in their tactics to deal with insurgents or enemy forces.

But not in the Deep South.........the Thai police and military seems to stumble around like a blind elephant.

A pity for those servicemen and civilians who are on the receiving end at the bandits and terrorist bombs or shooting
