  1. Im geting tired of this topic, week after week this sort of incidence crops up, same responce, get some outside help, you have left it go to long and now its at an advanced stage, after bali 2002, Indonesia got help from Australia and New Zealand with various issuses and that improved their arrest , kill rate no end , they are now (touch wood) on top of their game and work close with AU and NZ, why can't you.bah.gif

There is a big difference.Bali is not predominantly muslim,so it was much more easy to find the vermon responsible there compared to the restive South!!

  2. Thais keep beating up foreigners because in the majority of cases they don't face any consequences.

Why not beat up a foreigner and get rid of a bit of angst and stress when it is highly unlikely you will be made accountable for it.

It is amazing how quickly a bunch of thai guys can come out of the woodwork when there is a chance to gang bash somebody. I have seen it a few times in Pattaya and it is fast and brutal. Believe me it can happen to anyone if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time or you get into a misunderstanding which spirals out of control.

Yeah right..... and the millions of travellers to Thailand that have not experienced violence just got lucky......he was not in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was aggressive in the wrong place with the wrong people......big difference
You have a lot to learn about Thailand.

Funny that I have travelled in most areas of Thailand (avoided Pattaya) and been well out of it on drink a few times too, more often than not, one farang alone with the Thai people, bars, night clubs, dinking all night, not one fight, injury, threat of violence.....just lucky I guess.....or could it be that I learnt very quickly....smile.png.......the only violence or fights I viewed involved drunk farang. Excepting when one of my Thai aquaintances got himself shot dead......he wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time either....like the old farang he just pissed off the wrong people. But of course you are welcome to your opinion.

  3. these people are vermin beating on a guy old enough to be their dad/grandad regardless of what went before.....had i been there watching this I would have picked up something large and heavy and set about them regardless of the consequences....take away the fake smiles and thailand is a very dangerous place

Yes,Thailand can be a dangerous place............because of that it`s NEVER a good idea to get involved, even if the fight is unfair !!

  4. Went to the Tesco Express in Soi Bukao today and was shocked to find that the small 7-11 near where I live have more in stock. Was gonna buy some food items and San Miguel beer.Bacon they didn`t have and for beers they only had Singha and Chang .

Only got the classic "finit" when asking if the items was in stock.........not sure if it`s the same as "no hab",but will give them a try next week again coffee1.gif ..........

  5. Why come all the way to Thailand to jump off a balcony?Do the hotel have cameras that show any one in the corridor or entering his room about this time......even hotel staff. It is a sad story.

This is some sort of record for Thai Visa. It must be at least 10 posts before someone speculates that the poor soul must have been "pushed."

Agree. Most of the balcony jumpers either commits suicide or falls due to accident. The wild speculations among us farangs that many people are being pushed of the balconies are just baloney !!!

It`strange that the GF,hotel maid, security guys, receptionist etc.are ALWAYS successfull when it comes to trow a farang of balconies(after locking themselves in with the masterkey),never heard about a farang that survived this attempt and reported it to the police coffee1.gif ...........

  6. Why not spend police man hours doing some real work and get the suppliers.

    Perhaps its too much work?

How does a cop tell his boss (drug baron) that he is under arrest? -sic-

Simple answer. The suppliers are paying the cops to not arrest them. The Thai toy police like to go where the problem is not. Why arrest the suppliers? That causes the police captains to have to cut back on their villa construction, and their yacht purchases, which shrinks the local economy. Better to go after the tourists. Better for the tourists to just say no. Do the police have a legal right to administer a random blood test to a foreigner in a bar? I would say "eat me policeman. Eat me. Leave this bar right now. I am enjoying my beer. Get the hell out of here. Now. Before I report you to your superiors in Bangkok. You are not wanted in this bar. Get out!".

I do not think any tourist, or expat should ever have to be submitted to a random drug test. That is past ridiculous. Past inane. Just say no. Lock me up bitch. I will not take your test.

You belive so?This has been going on especially in Bkk on regular intervals and has been done recently: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/626894-anti-drug-test-by-pissing-in-the-soi/ .

And if you refuse? I bet after they lock you up you get a stamp in your passport saying "Don`t bother to come back" wink.png .

  7. I have given up to irritate myself over the shirtless idiots..............some people just seems to have the brains disengaged most of times !!

But what makes me see red is shirtless idiots in foodshops and resturants, thats unhygenic and discusting.........a untrained, rabid monkey would have more common sense than these fools bah.gif !!!!!!!!!

  8. There are a number of clubs advertising openly on Pattaya TV they have only Russian, Slovenia etc girls working there............that would be a duck shoot for any immigration officer

You will find out that most of those girls have a WP classed in the category as "entertainers" rolleyes.gif .

  9. Then you know if you goto places like Cambodia or Burma, you'll be constantly hearing people complain that they can't get a proper English breakfast, or there's no good pizza shops in town, or it takes the utility company too long to turn the electric back on after a storm, or people don't speak enough English, and so on...

There's just no winning with some people.

You never heard about Happy Pizza in Cambodia, then whistling.gif ??

  10. Never mind saving the elephants, crocodiles and butterflies. it should be; Save the foreigners they are getting wiped out one at a time. just look at the track record in the past few months.

Can you please enlighten us about this "track record for the past few months" whistling.gif ??.

Woman drives in car at night that works for the Hilton Hotel get shot in the head.

Man gets strangled to death with leather belt on second floor of hotel room.

Man stuffed in garbage bag after being bound up and tossed like trash.

Tourist jumps off balcony and dies.

Man (Foreigner) jumps off balcony, DOA.

OK,so that`s 3 murders and plenty of accidents/suicides ?.Not a scary track record at all this.

  11. Yupp,it`s 10 baht...........not 20 baht because "somebody told me so",not 40 baht because "I pity the baht-bus driver" or 100 baht because "It`s still cheaper than back home".......coffee1.gif .

  12. They keep mixing local people and taxi drivers, as if they are the same people. If they are so concerned about what people think, then have a vote on the Island, and see if the local people want to be ruled by the taxi mafia or the government they have elected - oh thats right, they already did.

I bet if they asked the locals on Phuket, they would want the bus service, and they would also want every taxi and tuktuk driver thrown out of the island!

It depends what you define as "locals".The original inhabitans of Phuket profits on this scheme and on tourism in general and have no reason to protest.

And the "locals" who have moved to Phuket from other areas of Thailand have no influence in the ways things are done in Phuket and never will.

  13. Mexico is more dangerous in some places than others. There are places I wouldn't go, and places I feel safe. The same is true of any country I've been in including The US, Thailand, Canada and the UK.

Overall, Mexico isn't that dangerous. In fact, it has just a little more than 10% of the gun murders per capita compared to Thailand. Link

In any country, you want to know where not to go and it will help a lot.

I don't understand why these incidents are such international news. These and the rare airline crash are always big news.

Highway accidents cause 1.3 million deaths per year, worldwide. That's a number far higher than gun incidents. Thailand ranks right up there too per capita. Link Highway accidents including multiple deaths and criminal driving kill fewer than 10% of what auto accidents do worldwide. Link

It's always sad and frustrating to read about the gun deaths, and I'm sorry for those in Mexico who were killed. I just think it's overblown in the news.

    $.02

The numbers of killed is probably not much higher in Mexico than before, but the methods of killing and abductions is done in such a grizzly way that it spreads fear in the communities where there is a war between the cartels.

Where else in the Western world are people tortured and killed by the dozens and then be hanged from brigdes or dumped in the middle of cities to spread fear and show strenght against a competing cartel ? Not to mention that in those areas police are almost non-existent,journalist are killed on a regular basis and the politicians or goverment officials who dare to stand up against the cartels are in a HIGH risk of getting abducted, tortured and killed.
