  1. I can speak from one western police force (does NZ count? who cares?) experience in the flesh (pants on of course).

They are liars when it suits them.

They even lie to their own employees.

In fact my brother (civilian police) had to sue the bast@rds to get equal pay. He won They also lied latter on to him, me and the whole family when a major incident happened involving family.

They never apologized for those lies, but they did apologize for incompetence after an inquiry was conducted and published.

Do I trust the NZ police... yes when it's no skin off their nose, but otherwise NO WAY.

I do not trust the Thai police because I have paid them too many baht for speeding when I was only going 140 odd.

  2. Kasikorn is a great bank, never had a problem.

Customer for 15 years plus too, inactive for about 8 years and the account was still there and the balance correct.

    BAY is great too.

Thai Military Bank can go shoot bullets, but they made me a profit in 97 as I got all my money out into USD because they would not even give me a CC application form.

Bangkok Bank, they are useless and I used to sub-contract to them too (the executive dining was great and free!).

But the OCBC bank in Singapore, American Express Bank in HK are the worst banks in the world. Incompetence doesn't come close. Between them they lost a TT of quiet a bit of money (for me) for 3 farting weeks, no interest was credited even though AE had it!

  3. Well I have had mine now for 3 weeks.

Bloody large alright, going down from level 9 in the BCH carpark on the 2nd day was a bit hairy, NO SCRATCHES yet!

But a stone bloody chip already on the front left above the headlight. I should spend B1900+vat and get the bonnet protector eh?

Rubber mats = shit, got the better ones for b1600 +vat.

The stereo is great, but bass is a bit stretched. Ipod loves it. Bluetooth phone is great too, but it shows all my numbers twice, probably because the numbers are on the sim and in the phone memory too.

Plenty of room. Doors don't click shut as easily as a Honda... but its a truck I suppose.

Too hot, got the sun shades from central for 49 baht CHEAP!

Gear box can be clunky when the foot is down (my bad).

Would like the usb plug to be visible, ie not in the glove box, but I will cut a hole in the glove box to allow the cable out without jamming it.

Plenty of ping, but ah a bit slow on the standing start... but I will get used to it.

Friends (thai) think I am a fast driver as I take off into traffic correctly with the foot down, unlike the locals who merge in at 5kph and then increase speed to 10kph while talking to Somchai on the phone and then look surprised when I flash my lights and toot my horn at them. I want to get a tug boat fog horn, but need to find a supplier.

Overall I am very happy with my BT-50. Its huge and all but I haven't had a mini in years so am not as afraid as I should be.

I want to get a tonneau cover. Carryboy have 2 with product codes on their website for 2012 BT-50s, but pickupway say not available yet.

Has anyone got a tonneau cover yet?

I have seen 1 so far and I think it was aeroklas but not sure.

Carryboy, aeroklas and superup are the only suppliers I can find for here in Thailand.

    Anyone got any others? Thanks

    (forget ford, they are stupid!)

  4. I am starting to get sick of waiting for my Ranger to arrive (809K for the auto). I am now considering the BT-50. Am I correct in stating that the lowest price for the truck in auto is 874K?

Is Mazda more willing to give away accessories etc than Ford and can anyone tell me what the interest rate is for Mazda finance?

    Order it.

I got sick of waiting, after 7 months was told wait until January another 5. SO I ordered the Bt-50 and got it 2 weeks later due to a cancel by a customer who could not get the deposit. Lucky me.

I got many more freebees, insurance, deck liner, floor mats and 3m window tints.. I got the 874 k job, has reversing sensors (ford doesn't).

I didn't need finance, but think ford/mazda/toyota pretty much have similar deals, so don't see that as ball buster by any means.

My only issue is the insurance is for 80% of value not 100% so I am going to cough up for the difference, got caught out on that one! Probably my dealer? Or is it like that for all BT-50 owners? No idea.

  5. On the road the Ranger disappears into traffic just like any other vigo.

The BT-50 stands out and even though I think its a bit "HAPPY" I am very happy to have one after a long 2 week wait compared to 1 year for a Ford.

A dolphins nose is not that ugly after all.

I am 60k better off too..........

  6. Anybody know where to get or download the English owners manual?

I received an English manual with the car. Your dealer should be able to get you one without any problem.

They said no have. Never mind I got the ranger e version

I have got the pdf for the Thai version of the BT-50, got it on Thursday from the dealer 3 days after getting the car.

If you want it I'll upload it somewhere (any ideas?) and post a link here if anyone wants it.

p.s. The car is great, but my iPod keeps getting i/o errors on different songs which I don't get when I use it stand alone...

  7. So I ordered the BT-50 on the 12th of July, and now the 24th I get a call in the a.m. saying "ITS HERE".

So now my addons are being added on.

    Meanwhile at Ford Motors Thailand......

Which model? I ordered mine the end of February and a letter from Mazda came yesterday but it is in Thai so I will have to wait a to get it translated. This week I have seen four different 4dr 4x4 BT-50 Pro in my area with either no plates or red plates. Just wish one of them would have been mine.

BT-50 4x2door AT, and I said I would take any colour. Got grey but oh well at least I am getting it.

4x4 must be harder to get eh?

I hope no one gassumps me.

did you order a 4x2 wildtrak or 4x4 (he asks worryingly) wink.png

    4x2.

  9. department of transport in Taling Chan (5 mins from southern bus terminal in the direction of Pinklao), sorry I cannot be more specific, but the turning on the main rd is just before tops, a taxi driver will no doubt know it.

You need your licence (from home), proof of address from your embassy, passport copy, then you will have to take a colour blindness test at the nearbye opticians and to take a simple driving test (reaction test would better describe it). Expect it to take anything from about 4 hours to a whole day

Don't agree with the time required. I have done 1 yr permit twice and they only took an hour or so.

Never did a driving test, 3d vision test thingy yes.

And the color blind test was done on site (but not at Pinklao and maybe different places have different ways).

The 5 Yr license was 15 minutes (maybe less).

    Otherwise correct info.

    5yr lic 105baht, 1 yr .. can't remember.

  10. I ordered the Ford 1st, and after 6 months was told various lies and promised in 1 month. Next week letter from ford 6 MORE MONTHS.

So I ordered the Mazda. The promise is 3 months, hope they keep it.

I think the ford is a better looking truck, but who the fark cares when being lied to?

Mazda are a much more professional and friendly outfit than ford.

I might of course be unlucky with ford, but I am basing my opinions on experiences so far.

Remember when driving you are not looking at the vehicle you are looking at the road (well most people do I think).

(if the ford arrives 1st I might buy it or offer it up here to who ever wants it).

  11. I have ordered the Mazda BT-50 as my Ford dealer has had 2 weeks to tell me when the XLT will arrive and after a visit and a phone call & text still no reply.

Mazda are much keener for sales and at 874K I get a better deal all round.

So I am going with the Mazda. Its a 3 month wait (onto 7 with ford for WT 2.2), but what the hell if the ford arrives first I will be shocked.

Its going to be fun to drive into Ford in the BT-50 and ask for my 5k back as you are too late you tossers!

I'll be driving a dolphin though!
