  1. So I went to the ford dealer and asked to transfer from Wildtrack (6 months now) to XLT.

OK 3 months wait, no date.

So I said that's not good enough. I want a date not a vague 3 months.

So they have until Friday to reply with a more accurate date.

Meanwhile Mazda can get me an auto in August. SO THEY SAID!

Sent from someplace that is near a wifi point!

  2. Right...

    GETTING A REFUND!

Just got a lovely letter from Ford Thailand.

Came with a free t-shirt that will fit a 16yr old but not me.

Seems I am a priority blah blah JANUARY 2013!!

Since the world is ending in Dec on the 20th I think I may pass on the offer.

Ordered Jan delivery 1 year... I think a custom Rolls Royce would arrive faster!!!

What Ranger did you have on order ?

I ordered a 2.2 Wildtrack, any colour now would do.

But I might have to go for an XLT as I have spent the last few days checking out the competition and it sucks.

  4. Hello there... Just to update some news I got from a dealer in BKK on the Ford Ranger status. For a 4WD XLT, apparently the delivery delay is now of 4 months. For wildtraks (2.2) the dealer told me it would go up to 1 year.

This is in total conflict to my dealers words.

The promise is now July, which matches the 1st letter from Ford back in February.

I just saw about 10 Isuzu DMAX V-Cross all burgundy coloured on the lot down the road.... tempted...

  5. I am now number 4 on the list.

Seems Ford Thai is surveying dealers on the order backlog to work out who still wants a Wildtrack.

The missing letter from May might be coming out in July then, Thai Time I suppose.

So in 1 month I go from position 8 to 4 in the Wildtrack (2.2) queue he says.

    I ask Why?

He says because 4 people changed to XLT.

They had 4 XLT's on the lot without number plates, so they are getting plenty of them, just no Wildtracks!!!

The guy says delivery 1 month. We will see....maybe by Xmas eh?

  6. I ordered a 4 door Wildtrak 2.2 in Chilli Orange on 11 June , so lets see how long it is. Ford Pattaya

I told them I could be persuaded on another colour or model even , if one was to become available earlier, fingers crossed now waiting for the call

I ordered exactly the same (black/white being alternatives) in mid January at Ford Rama 2.

1 month ago they had delivered "ONE"!!!! and I was number 7 on the list, I might be number 6 now.

  7. So according to some posters there is a boat going to Aus every week with Rangers on them.

Then some others say that the Rangers in Aus are being sourced from Sth Africa.

The truth is out there, if only we could find it!

I am seriously looking at the BT-50 which seems not to have any similar issues(?).

Mazda are making all sorts of promises, which Ford are not making even as an apology for being a bunch of d**kwads.

The Colorado is 905k and its not even leather! So dropped that one straight off.

So the butt ugly BT-50 appears to be the best choice.

BTW, can I leave my Ranger order and 5K at Ford and when they ring in 2014 to say its here I can say "Sorry I forgot I don't want it give me back my 5K please?" and actually get it back?

  8. So

If the flood is the reason for delay, how come the 3.2 is being delivered in Australia eh?

According to sources, the Ranger's currently being sold in Australia are coming from South Africa.

Then maybe they can divert some to Thailand as well then.

I understand Honda is now delivering Japan assembled cars to keep market share here in Thailand.

I suppose Ford thinks thats too hard!

  9. So,

Bottom line is that the flood caused all this (Ford letter says this)!

    What a load of crap!

I am off to get a BT50 and if that's delayed too its going to be a Chevy.

Ford seems to be intent on making a bad name for itself.

If the flood is the reason for delay, how come the 3.2 is being delivered in Australia eh?

Someone in Ford needs to explain without lying.

  10. I have just got a letter from Ford Sales & Service (Thailand) co., Ltd. (id -75- 16th February 2012)

Its all in THAI of course, but tomorrow I will get a brief translation from friends and post here.

They mention the XLT once and the Wildtrack about 5 times.

    Delays I expect...

    Time to call Mazda!

    Anyone else got the letter?

  11. So, my 2 month delay for a 2.2 Wildtrack has now expanded to March-April delivery.

Thus my 3 weeks since booking means that I may be waiting 3 and a half months for the bloody thing.

The salesboy says I am at the top of the list because I am paying cash.

But I think he is talking B.S.

    What do you think?

Should I take up an offer from Sime/Darby Mazda? See which lot delivers first and then cancel the slouch?

Getting a BMW was a lot faster (in Aus though).

  12. ANZ as in anz bank? They've had the 10k limit for a while. It's only there to stop online fraud (in case your account details have been stolen). You can still transfer more, you just have to ring and arrange it in advance.

I was calling to arrange it in advance, through telephone direct.

No one at my branch would know me since I have been offshore for years and last set foot in my branch in 1991 (I think).

They said I should contact my branch direct to over-ride the limit etc, but whats the point? Oh Om save me about NZD100 in calls/extra transfer fees.

    Can't be bothered.

I bet Nigeria is on the list at the top next to Russia and the Ukraine.

  13. Last year I TT an amount well over NZD10,000, no problem.

This year I want to do the same.

    NOPE!

Thailand, the Philippines and South Africa are now all on the do not allow big transfers list.

I can TT NZD10,000 but not one cent more.

Too many fraudulent transaction to these countries according to the call centre operator.

I suppose next year it will be banned altogether and I'll have to get a carrier pigeon to deliver the dosh.

The banks logic is c.r.a.p. as I bet that a lot of fraud occurs under 10,000 too!

  14. Original article here => http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/asia/4630251/NZ-woman-dies-after-Thai-food-poisoning

A Wellington woman's overseas holiday with girlfriends has ended in tragedy, after she died from eating toxic seaweed while in Thailand on Waitangi Day.

Sarah Katherine Carter's devastated father today paid tribute to his 23-year-old daughter, saying ''she touched the hearts of everyone she knew''.

Sarah and her two female friends were taken ill after eating at a food market in Chiang Mai, on Friday.

The trio were taken to hospital with food poisoning, but Sarah and one other friend were particularly badly hit.

Richard Carter said he and his wife, Anne, got a call from the Chang Mai Ram Hospital on Friday, saying their daughter was ill.

''We spoke with her about 10pm that night and it appeared to be just bad food poisoning. She appeared withdrawn and not sounding that good but seemed all right.

''And we just said, oh yeah, 'well have a good night's sleep and you should be fine in the morning, you should be all clear'.

''But within an hour of our conversation the thing just spread to her heart and strangled her heart.''

Mr Carter said Sarah's heart was functioning at only 10 per cent ability but she struggled on and survived the night.

The next morning her mother flew out to be with their daughter.

''I managed to get a few calls to Sarah in the meantime but she had all this stuff down her throat and she couldn't talk to me.

''She passed away that night, 3.30am Thailand time on Sunday.''

Carter said his wife was in transit at Bangkok Airport when Sarah died and he had to call and tell her the news.

''It's horrible. It's pretty tough, we're struggling through it.

''You have to accept it the best we can, but it's not easy.''

The Carters were expecting their daughter's body to be returned home on Friday and funeral services were being planned in Auckland and Wellington.

Mr Carter said Sarah, who was born and bred in Auckland, had graduated from Victoria University in Wellington and had been working for the past year at the accounting firm BDO Spicers.

He said the trip to Thailand was Sarah's first proper holiday overseas.

''She'd gone to Australia but this was a proper three-week trip overseas.''

Mr Carter said Sarah was the eldest of three children, with a 19-year-old brother and 17-year-old sister.

Sarah's two friends were recovering and expected to be OK. Their parents had also flown over to be with them.

Mr Carter said his daughter was a ''very lovely girl''.

''She was probably about the most thoughtful, kind person to other people that you can imagine.''
