He is NOT liked by the Thais, expecially by the youngest generation.

Are you calling for a civil war?

totally incorrect .....   There are alot of Thais who would rather see him in charge than any of the others. Last night out at a bar up country we were discussing the election, and many middle aged and young commented that they do not want thailand to go back to the way it was before with protests and road blocks, lawlessness etc ...

  2. Always go online and book direct with the airlines.

Skyscanner, webjet and all those will either mess it up or add extra $$.

I remember some years back I used skyscanner and it was BKK-Darwin-BNE .....

never again  !  the second leg Darwin-BNE was priced higher than advertised, but I had to accept it as I already paid for the first leg.

    dirty scum.

Always a mistake, never speak to IOs or other government officials in Thai, they don't like it.

Happy and a bit stupid is the way to go.

agree fully .....   just act dumb, wai a couple of times ....  say thank you ....  !!

It makes them feel good as they have the 'power over farang'  ....

then go on your way ... to the bar and laugh about it.

  4. Geeze  Aussie politicians come up with some stupid idea's .......

So they are trying to force asian immigrants to live out the back of bourke.

I've heard some ridiculous suggestions in my time, and this one has to be up there with the best.

Why not just curb the intake to zero for a few years and let the unemployment vs jobs ratio even up more.  It's not rocket science.

  5. As NCC1701A already mentioned ....  I also witnessed alot of expats on Sukhumvit over the last 20 years, sitting at the bar at 10.30am and still their at 7.00pm day in day out, drunk 24/7,  Golden bar, Beer Garden, Queens park plaza, Soi 22, seen many wrecks, many passed away, Cirrhosis of the liver. They spend most of their life sitting on a bar stool.  It is sad in some ways ....

The train is extremely slow and quite hot and dusty. If you really want to risk a visa run to Poipet/Aran, use a casino bus. The best place to pick one up is at Central Bang Na. They run frequently from around 5:30 am until about 10:00 am, price 200 baht one-way (300 baht return, but do not do that as it restricts you to a specific bus at a usually inconvenient time).

Decide in advance what you will do if unable to reenter Thailand at Poipet. Ignore advice by Thai immigration to fly from Siem Reap to Bangkok.

Thanks Tim, in the end I decided to buy a ticket to KL stay two night and rtn 3,800 baht.

Probably safer bet than Poipet ....

Most of the immigration officers are miseries and make that clear by the way they talk to you!

Sent from my SM-P585Y using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Try and enter the US as an outsider and see how the immigration officer communicates.

Maybe the thai immigration should offer a bunch of flowers or fruit to every farang that enters. ????

You have to get away from this 'right of entry' no matter you have or not in your passport, a visa, re-entry permit, extension etc. The only 'right' here as in any country, is the 'right' an immigration officer has to deny entry under a whole list of options should you not be able to comply 'There and then'. I am not saying it's right or wrong BUT that is the reality of the situation.

Absolutely agree .....  folks need to get of the " I have a visa so I have the right " to be allowed to enter your country.

Entry is at the discretion of the government and the Immigration Officer.

As you indicated ... it may not be right or wrong, but it's the truth.

  9. My head is going to explode with ALL the rigmarol and requirements for a first one year visa extension based on retirement.  This will follow a non immigrant O visa I believe  ??

There is so much to get your head around ......  why so complicated or am I overeacting in that it's not as complex as it seems ... ???   400k + 40k per month  ... or 800k for 6 months of the year ( 3 mths before apply and leave in for 3 months after apply )
