  1. You can also pay your tax online through eservice.dlt.go.th This has now been extended to vehicles over 7 years old. When you take the car for the MOT, the tester puts the information into the system and you don't need to upload anything from them. You can just pay and you get a tracking number when the DLT post the new tax disc out to you. Worked really well for me.
  2. I didn't actually mean structured in that sense. Just that you can target particular areas that you miss completely in pure immersion, especially if you're struggling. You don't need to follow some kind of typical language book syllabus. Plenty of ways and methods to spend time with a teacher focusing on the areas that you want and need for your own use. A teacher can help you make sense of things going on around you - but if you need/want that might also depend on how knowledgeable and patient the people around you are when you want to ask questions. I'm self-taught, never had a formal Thai lesson, and got to a level where I can take on corporate translation work. I reckon I would have got a few short cuts from taking classes in my earlier days. It's probably quite a few years since I read up on language immersion research and projects so would appreciate some pointers about papers to catch up on. Results were very mixed from what I remember on much of the earlier research.
  3. Research doesn't show immersion as necessarily being the easiest way to learn a language. It can actually be quite a long and painful process. Having lessons can help learners notice or develop in areas of language that they might otherwise take an age with naturally. Having some structured lessons while actually being in the natural language environment could be of great benefit, especially for someone who feels they're not making headway.
  4. It's right at one of the entrance/exits for True Digital Park. Any problems with the shops in front there could be related to the construction that went into that building perhaps?
  5. That's not true is it. The army's carried out many assassinations and murders of their own over the years.
  6. That's a big part of the problem already. The army committing atrocities that keep things stirred up and alienate the local population.
  7. Nowadays the amnesties are to get them into the MOU system. They can get a work permit and their visa will last for 2 years if the employer plays ball. I don't think they have amnesties that just give a pink card to illegal workers.
  8. We also didn't receive them for several years. However, last year all foreign employees suddenly received new social insurance cards valid for 2 years at a time.
  9. There is an option to continue paying in and receiving healthcare after you retire.
  10. You reckon people book a whole holiday based on visiting Maya Bay? You'd think if they were that interested they'd follow what's been going on in the area. Good news that they're actually following through on the plans and promises for the area I'd say.

  12. Aren't the big questions more to do with his meetings with the father rather than the son?
  13. No. I live in Bangkok and now work in Pathum Thani. The extension based on work is now being done at Pathum Thani. All I really need to know is if it's correct that Pathum Thani will not accept a screenshot of an online TM30.
  14. Does anyone deal with Pathum Thani immigration office? Because of an office move, our HR is now using them for our extensions. I have a screenshot of an online TM30 (Bangkok) but HR claims this is not accepted at the Pathum Thani office. They want me to get a receipt from an in-person TM30 report, which will mean a time-consuming trip to CW. Does anyone have experience with this office and can confirm that this really is the case?
  15. No direct experience. But, if you use it, there's a Facebook group called Married Lao/Expat where you can probably get some helpful information.
  16. Anyone familiar with Pathum Thani immigration office? Our HR is using them this year and is telling me that this office won't accept a screenshot of an online TM30. Saying that I need to go and do it in-person to get a blue receipt which will be acceptable to Pathum Thani.
  17. You can enter using an ATK Covid test result taken within 48 hours of entry. Obviously not self-administered but I'm not sure what would be acceptable - maybe from a hospital?
  18. I went over Friendship Bridge 1 last week. The Thailand Certificate of Covid-19 Vaccination from the hospital was fine. It's in both Thai and English.
  19. Same for me with my last one. But kept trying through the window and got 3 rejections before an approval on the 4th try. Nothing new on the final successful one because there were no tweaks left to make!
  20. I don't know if that is normal procedure? Could they be offering your husband an opportunity to 'resolve' the issue in some way?
  21. My card expired a couple of years ago but recently my employer distributed cards to all foreign employees. They said they've been reissued to foreigners only, with Thais required to use the app / online system.
  22. I'm just on a trip rather than a border hop but I didn't have any problems coming over to Laos. I showed my Thai vaccination certificate no problem. All nationalities now pay $40 for visa on arrival but paying in baht is more expensive. The Thailand Pass for both me and my Lao girlfriend were processed within 30 minutes. I used my Thai social insurance card and vaccination certificate and got the 650 baht insurance for her. We're coming over tomorrow.
