Tried to get to you earlier - got lost - no surprise there - then had a mini-emergency with my oldest dog who has heart disease. Spent most of yesterday at CMU small animal hospital - sorted now, thank heaven.

However, I think you made the right decision to keep them all as they've always been together. It's bad enough when dogs are abandoned by their former owners, splitting them up as well is traumatic for them. Wish you all the best!

    Thank you.

Thank you for the generous offer. I won't put the burden on you though. I will keep them together at my place. They seem to be fitting in well enough and I love having them around. Very friendly bunch.

The first one does have a strange look about the eyes....the spitting cobra episode explains it.

There is an experimental eye drop that is widely used for cataract....humans use it but it seems

to work well for pets...maybe try it.

It's called Can-C (maybe thats what you're already using.)

Thanks. The bottle is in Thai. I'll ask the wife when she gets home.

Sure.  I will be here all day. Thank You.

I might be able to take one - Where's Mae Hia? I'm in Sansai.....

If you take the 121 towards Big C on the 108 go straight through the underpass to the Canal Road and turn left towards the Samoeng Road. From the Samoeng Road keep going South 11.2k to Wat Ring Wua. You can look up "Joe39Shop" on Google Maps. We are around the corner from them.

  6. Hi everyone. A situation has come up with our neighbor who is caretaker to the land next to us and he needs to find work and a place to live asap. I heard from neighbors that another person has been bad mouthing him to the owner of the land, so he can take his job. The owner of course believes him and now our friend and neighbor is going to be homeless in a couple days with his wife and daughter. He is a warm human being who took in the 4 dogs that stayed there before he lived there and has looked after them as his own. He worked the land he has been on and does handyman work around the villages here. My wife and I are going to let him stay in our small bungalow for the time being and take in his dogs, who get along great with our own 3 pets and the other villagers dogs. After songkran we will take the dogs to my wife's village to live and play on her nephews land. We could take 1 or 2 in ourselves, but we only have 2 rai of land and we don't want to break up the family. So if anyone needs a good hard worker and has a place to stay for him and his family, please let me know.

    Thank you,

    F.J.

  7. Thank you all for your great suggestions. We ended up in Sahhatip at the Navy beach which was clean and un crowded. We also went to Koh Kham. Clean, clear water. We went during the weekday and it was quite crowded. They sell bad food and warm beer now. The beach was a mess at the end of the day though. Trash everywhere. Mostly cigarette butts. Large Russian tour group with a leader that was on a bullhorn most of the time was distracting and the ferry back lost engine power halfway. With the sun beating down on us, kids crying, a lot of smoke emanating from the engine, someone finally got it going again and we slowly made it back. Those ferries are ancient and over crowded way beyond capacity. Still, we had a good day. Won't be back though.

    Disappointing news.

Still, the Thais are brilliant at destroying the nice beaches. They don't understand that the beaches became popular because they were nice beaches and not because they were covered with concrete. Soon as Burma sorts the government issues few will even bother with Thai beaches, and all those horrid concrete resorts will be deserted as people go to Burma instead. It'll be like Thailand 30 years ago.

I am soooo looking forward to visiting the beaches there.  I have some friends who have been to them and they rave about them. But, you need to bring crisp hundred dollar bills there.

Thank you for the maps Steve. Looks great. Can you also go to Koh Kham for a day?

Looks like you've made up your mind, but another option not mentioned is Koh Phai (aka Bamboo Island) which is an uninhabited island about 30 minutes beyond Koh Larn via speedboat. It is controlled by the Navy and you may (or may not) be asked to pay an admission fee by a Navy park ranger. There are about 5 secluded beaches around the island and most times you can have one to yourselves. There are no facilities so you'll have to bring your own food, towels, tents etc but it's a beautiful, natural setting and only 1 hour from downtown Pattaya by a speed boat chartered from the beach.

You would want your chartered boat to wait for you to provide transportation back to Pattaya. You could also ask to be dropped on Koh Larn on the way back if you don't want to wait until arriving at Pattaya for a restaurant and facilities. Koh Larn beaches are crowded and dirty, but it is fun to rent a motor bike and explore the island. There are essentially no cars there so it's much less intimidating to ride a scooter there than in most areas of Thailand. If dropped at Koh Larn you could say adios to the speed boat there and ride the ferry back to Pattaya for something like 30 Baht.

And yes, the Navy beach near Bang Saray called "Sai Kaew Beach" is the best in the area accessible by car. It is crowded, but has great facilities, is relatively clean, has nice white sand, and is part of a nature preserve on Navy land.

That sounds like a nice day trip. I am not locked into any one place and would like to visit a couple places in our short time frame. This sounds good also. Thank you.

Is that Ao Nua Beach? I stayed there about 14 years ago. Had the whole beach and resort to ourselves. Beautiful. Now I hear from to many friends, that's it's really gone downhill.

Some of the best beaches in Koh Chang can no longer be accessed with ease. Many places I used to go and find virtually deserted white beaches between White Sands and Kaibae are no longer accessible due to development that has taken place on the land between the road and the beach. Also the tourist areas of Koh Chang are unfortunately rapidly becoming the same type of overcrowded s***hole as Koh Samet.

Yeah, Koh Chang was nice years ago. Same with Samet. Won't go anymore.
