  1. This will be my 1st stay in C.Mai without the sanity of the olde belle to chat, enjoy the latest sports on big screen, enjoy that sunday combination roast, where is the alternative around loi kroi rd, /night bazaar area, thanking you for any ideas,I heard the riverside restaurant is good, thats over the bridge isn't it.

  2. I booked thru agoda months ahead for 6 nites @ vietnam village resort, Hoi Ann vietnam, about $55 Aus a nite, when I checked in the resort had a big banner out the front LOW SEASON 50% OFF, surely a company like agoda would know season times for different areas. I will take advice and compare with hotel direct in future.

Agoda and the others get their pricing information from the hotels.

Inform Agoda about this, this probably is a breach of contract between the hotel and Agoda.

I e-mail them several times, & threatened to go to their office in BKK, no reply, and as usual, once in BKK, got sidetracked with social events, last chance shopping etc, but now I do more comparing, even with hotel direct.

  5. I did this trip about 4 years ago, left from surin bus station, there's minibuses to the border leaving every 30 minutes or so , same returning to surin from border, from there I was met by taxi on cambodian side ( arranged beforehand with 3 dragons guesthouse siem riep)about $50 U.S. border to siem riep, booked him for return journey,I think you can get taxi on arrival into camb.but beware rip offs, you're @ their mercy.

  7. Yes I have to admit I have a small teaspoon collection, thai, emarites, brunei, in my chaing-mai house, the best souveniring I came across was british airways, If you order scotch or bourbon they hand you a small genorous shot bottle, If you order a double they give you 2 bottles, therefore you pocket 1, drink 1, you end up with a few free spirits to enjoy or give away, thais appreciate them as gifts.

  8. I have a 24 speed mountain bike I ride around the village, 1 lap is 2 kilometres, 3 before breakfast when it's cool, then beer 'o clock time, 3 more laps, on the final lap, a few pittstops @ the local shops for a cleansing ale, thats my mon-fri routine, then the weekend in Chiang- Mai city to swim in the hotel pool, laps & aerobic exercises.

  9. What I do is take a large amount of aussie cash, go to the money changers, ( there's a good one in soi3 sukumvit) near the intersection, then go directly to the bangkok bank & deposit the lot in my thai bank account, thus avoiding the ATM fees when you withdraw, this can save you 130 baht each time, + the money changer will give you a better rate than the banks.

  10. I always enjoy LAO music & dancing, along with the majority of isaan people, paradise ubon has many good features mainly catering for the older , quieter living, sounds like you might be to young for this lifestyle which many of us prefer.

    See youse all october.

  12. That's the problem I discovered, brought the airfares (int thailand) months in advance online in Aus, then because of change in circumstances had to change dates 1-2 days before, can be done but at a cost almost as much as original price, @ this level, fare was comparable with thai smile.
