  1. Tell the yanks to go home, next they'll be wanting to open a Mckraps, next to the rice paddy,I agree with james collister they live a stress free existence where comradery, respect are present, something sadly dissapearing in the west,What amuses me in my travels in isaan, laos is the makeshift abodes with a 3 metre satellite dish costing much more than the house, one thing they love their thai soap operas, slapstick childish quiz shows, I'm sure my girlfriend is using her present life to get as much television hours in as possible,in case she can't enjoy in her next life. ha-ha.

  2. Thankyou javel, My prayers have been answered, I had the pleasure to dine in the majic food court on the 19th oct, there's about 8 different food outlets ranging from khou mun ghai, muslim khou mok ghai,(saffron rice) noodle dishes, thai food varieities,I chose khou mun ghai washed down with a cocanut shake for the pricely sum of 55 baht. This outlet mainly caters for the airline ground staff, technicians, re-fuelers etc, but something similiar on a larger scale in terminal 1 would do a roaring trade, for those who wish to sample it's about 5-7 minutes walk east of terminal 1, just follow the footpath, it's approx under the red rotating radar scanner as a reference point.

    bon appetite songhklasid.

If you are Thai, then buy a sticky rice bamboo thingy to carry around. thumbsup.gif

  4. My first impression of the new don muang wasthe lack of food outlets, the 1 good asian restaurant located upstairs was full due to the extra patronage, so we asked if there was food outlets @ the gate area, yes so in we go,burger kingwas the only choice, it was absolute garbage and expensive to boot, no wonder i never eat this crap, WHAT IS SORELY NEEDED is a coupon type food hall selling asian cuisine, variety @ reasonable price, they have the room, and the extra people using the airport I'm sure it will be well patronised, apart from that all good, I will be passing on my comments to the enquires desk next time there next week.

  5. I quite liked songhkla, hence my username, holidayed twice a year for 3-4 years, great seafood restaurants samila beach, get yourself a mountain-touring bicycle, good cycleways around beaches,it's quiet, How's eric @ the office bar, still open? & then there's cosmos bar, anything goes there, especially when a few cashed up rig workers call in for some female company,

  6. We are all overlooking the other option, book with thai domestic, (there still flying from swampy) It may be by time you take into account taxi /toll fees, STRESS, chance of missing flight, thai domestic may be an option, if you book early or they have deals happening, they can be reasonable, if you arrive international with thai, you can get free onward domestic,I think you have to go direct, no stopovers.

    any comments welcome

  7. Yeah, why muck around, transport in thailand is cheap, especially compared to westernised countries, jump in a taxi meter go direct, competition will soon set in & minibuses direct pattaya - don muang will soon be the norm.I think if anything Air Asia will flourish, in competition with nok-air, I'm talking int. flights neighbouring countries such as luang-prabang laos extending airport in progress, hanoi, da-nang vietnam, phnom penh camb. Even into southern china, these are all 1-2 hour flights, with their operating base cheaper than swampy, I PREDICT DON MUANG WILL BE THE TRAVELLER"S AIRPORT, the tourists will have swampy.
