You get the extension in your passport. Isn't that receipt enough? And again, what part of the following is hard to understand?

"5. In the case where an alien applicant does not meet the full qualifications stipulated by the criteria herein or in other cases not specified in this Order but a competent officer equivalent to or higher than inspector is of the opinion that the alien has legitimate reason for staying in the Kingdom of Thailand, the application shall be forwarded to the Commander of the Royal Thai Police or an authorized competent officer for further consideration of the alien's application."

So NO receipt   - straight forward corruption - that IS not  legal, whichever way you try to shine it.

I'd agree with you on that. I assumed I was more decrepit than I'd imagined and my memory was playing tricks on me.

However, googling does produce different results:

BTW, I have already emailed HMPO asking if there is a date already decided when the burgundy passports will be replaced by 'blue'.

(It says they will respond within 15 working days, so don't get too excited yet.)

To avoid over excitement Blue passports will be issued from October 2019. That is when the contract for the supplier is renewed. It will be the same style as now but blue with no mention of Europe.

You're wrong. I've seen the documentation which clearly states that a child born in Thailand of migrant worker parents who BOTH have a pink Thai ID card will receive Thai citizenship.

Unless you are Lao, Burmese or Cambodian this is not relevant to you so no need to argue this point further. I could even attach a link if you don't believe this but I am really not in the mood to find the doc, take a photo and upload it. I've got other things to do now.

Do post the link - oh sorry you are not in the mood.

Old post I know but if a child is born in Thailand to a set of alien parents who both have a pink non-Thai ID card, then Thai citizenship is conferred to the child. Although there are small numbers of westerners and others who have pink non-Thai ID cards, the vast majority are migrant workers who have Lao, Cambodian and Myanmar nationality.

    Complete rubbish.

If you had pressed 'Accept', the transaction you had initiated would have proceeded as normal and you would have got your cash and your card back without any issues.

The VISA debit card option has disappeared from the BB website details of available debit cards. Apparently there are only UnionPay variants now.

Before you close you account, if you don't already have an account at another bank, better proceed with caution as there's growing evidence that it is getting harder to open a new account if you don't have a Work Permit. There's also evidence that some people on long-term stay visa/extensions are also facing new hurdles when trying to open  a new account.

Visa cards are still on the website

100% correct, but there is 1 But.

The validity of that new visa atm card is only 6-8 months as a friend of mine discovered recently

Thanks - I think that is due to the changeover you mentioned in 2019.

  7. If you are Bangkok bank get a Visa ATM card. They will probably say no have. They do not want to issue them. Insist on one and if they still say no phone the head office in Bangkok. You may have to wait seven days to get one sent to the branch.

Would applying for a notarised confirmation from the British Embassy alert them to the fact that you are living in Thailand? Assuming you haven't told them and still retain a UK address.

If asking for a income letter I assume they will know you are living here. Why else  would you want one.?

Worried about your state  pension increases?

Don't try anyway with Greek Border without visa, they're very rude, and they will throw away your family member, and said NO VISA NO ENTRY.

I experienced it ( land border with Turkey )

By the way I sended some email about my cases to some Embassies

    What is your nationality.?

What country are you trying to enter.?

No, you are missing the point.

It is possible to have an NI number but not entitled to a tax allowance. NI do not cancel when a person's right to work in the UK ceases.

If you have  a NI Number you are entitled to a personal allowance..Moving abroad does not cancel it.

Can you have a tax allowance in the UK if you are not working or paying tax? What about if you are unemployed and living in another country?

    I honestly have no idea.

Yes - in 2017-2018 you could earn 11500 pounds before you pay tax. If you are unemployed and live  abroad you obviously will not pay tax anyway.

How does his Thai wife who is not resident in the UK qualify for a personal tax allowance.?

She must have a National Insurance number to transfer a portion of her allowance If  she does not have one she would have to be resident in the UK to apply for one.
