My wife's birth certificate is slowly deteriorating -how do we get, and who from, to get a certified copy.
Since you have the original a certified copy can be obtained at any Amphoe.
Thank you for the reply- We asked Banglamung District Office and they said no - you still have the actual one. We showed the officer the original one that is getting close to unreadable but still no.
We will try again another time or somewhere else.

Children do not need visas - they do not get fined for overstay but why the father does not want them to get Thai passports baffles me. Up to him...
Because the mom doesn't want to apply them a Thai passports that's why she doesn't want to report their birth certificate to the Thai consulate or embassy before when the kids are born...
Then at this point I give up.

Would you please priovide more details, what papers are required, etc.
Look at the Thai MFA website - it tells you what is required - It is in Thai and English.
MFA - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
-
If the mother is Thai they can get Thai Passports. Look at the Thai MFA website for requirements....

I think you will get your letter back in time. As your extension ends on a weekend you can still go on Monday 1 Aug with no overstay. Next time try 30 days before - you do not lose any days it is dated from the expiry date. As stated above the Embassy letter is valid 6 months.

M - I see it like you do but even if they show you the manual and still ask for more what can you do? For extensions Samui are now asking for a medical that will be accepted from one named hospital only and costs 750 Baht! And valid for only for 7 days prior to renewal date

There is a hot topic on the Phuket Forum regarding the above -any other district / province heard this?
-
Nonthaburi immigration has same form, they also require income letter to be stamped by Ministry of Foreign affairs and asked for a copy of the purchase agreement for the condo we live in. Yellow book useless. Hope can get it all done tomorrow.
What country are you from?
It does not matter which country you are from. The want the consular officer that signed the document to be validated by the MFA.
I am glad I do not report to Nonthaburi- what do the MFA validate? They know the officer or he/she is on there list?

Seems things have changed lately as to requirements... Medical Certificate, now required with blood and urine tests.... to be done within 7 days of reporting for new annual extension. of OA or O visas. At a hospital not just a doctors letter.
There is a topic running here... for more information.
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/927024-update-on-samui-immigration-requirements/
I received this on email this afternoon from a member:
"A few of us have been through visa extensions recently and have been caught out by some new rules. Here is a summary of what you will need until they change again.
- Two copies of passport, visa page and departure card. NOTE they are insisting that all photocopies must be done in Portrait format, they reject Landscape copies and offer to re copy them for you....
- Application form TM7 with photo
- A bank statement showing minimum funds of 800k bht, or proof of monthly income as usual.
- A bank statement showing 3 months of transactions issued by your bank and stamped by the bank.
- A letter confirming your account issued by the bank.
- A photocopy of every page of your bank book to match you bank statement... again offered to be copied by immigration.
- A google map print out showing GPS coordinates of your accommodation.
- A copy of your house book or rental agreement
- A copy of your marriage certificate if applying as a married couple.
- A hospital medical certificate from Nathon hospital, this costs 735bht and involves blood pressure, chest xray for TB, blood tests for syphilis, urine for Amphetamines. This must be no more than 7 days old. (note they will no longer accept a GP’s certificate)
- The completion of the new Alien Personal information form.
I think that's about it .... the rejection of landscape copies is a new one !"
Latest I heard on new Maenam office being open is two more months, but don't hold your breath!
10. A chest x-ray? If that is required every year, isn't that unhealthy?
I doubt x-rays are advised unless you had symptoms that required one.
BP - if it is high are you refused an extension.?
If you fail any of the tests - what happens.
-
No body ever fails a medical.
Samui is just trying it on. Not a requirement.
It is obviously a requirement at Samui at the moment.

It is a pain having to complete another form but I do not think it is a big deal - 99% of it they know already.
-
Just out of interest,
One for the experts, Ubonjoe maybe.
Any reports of anyone failing the medical? Not just Samui - anywhere?
What happens if you do?
-
Valid for 6 months

There are reports that Jomtien will accept applications within the last 45 days.
I have tried 45 days at Jomtien for several years now - no- 30 days.. They may consider it I suppose for a reason but I would plan on 30. Will now await the I did brigade.!

They do have them in English - I am still waiting for mine -4 weeks! Insist on one. They say this week. I will let you know.
Book arrived today. I think the dealer got bored of my wife's phone calls.!
-
It appears so. I went in with a screw embedded in the tyre - wheel off screw removed - water check -all fine - checked all 5 tyres for correct pressure
How much? No charge; Found the man who did the work and gave him a good tip
.

Just for interest it comes with 2 manuals - one for the car and a smaller one for the GPS. I did not check if you can get the GPS one in English but I have been using the GPS for nearly a month now and if I can use it anybody can.

It's a new car, so you would need (if you are smart) 1st class full coverage insurance.
Ps: Free 1st year insurance comes usually with it (included with the deal) (or if not, you can ask/negotiate for it to be included)
Thanks for your reply - we have had the new car 4 weeks now but still red plates. We paid for 1st class insurance but we do not pick that up until the car is registered. You cannot get the gov insurance until they register the car. What insurance do we have in the meantime?
-
What insurance cover do you have driving on them?

I suggest posting in the Pattaya forum - you will get more replies there. Maybe a Mod can move it for you.
Meeting arriving passengers at DM

Parking at DM is a nightmare - if your wife has a usable phone on arrival, I would wait nearby somewhere until she phones to say she is nearly through to the main exit and then go and pick her up. Good luck.
