You do not have to be resident in the UK to claim.
Your wife does not need to be in work, or ever worked. She must have a National Insurance no.
You apply online.
-
Bangkok Bank do issue Visa Debit cards - they just do not want to. Insist on one- they may tell you it may be a 7 day wait.
-
Logic and need for 'address' ? There is none - it is there train set and you have to provide what they ask for.

OP, if you are looking for a definite answer to your question from TV, you will not get one. Even if you go ask an IO you may also get different answers. You know the rules for 90-day reporting. You have 15 days before the date of reporting to go in. If you chose to go later then the date, just be prepared to face the consequences.
There are no consequences if he goes 'later than the date' - you can report 15 days before or 7 days after the report date.

If you take your old passport you won't need your D/Licence. You won't need your photo signed as they check all is correct during your interview. Other than that follow Rally 123 post. Got my new passport in less than 3 weeks. Other than that the next issue is getting your old visa in New passport. That just takes time could be a matter of hours depending on office you use. That's free by the way.
It is not an interview - VFS take your application and relevant documents and send it all to the Passport Office. That's it.
I have seen several reports of photos being unacceptable to Liverpool so VFS obviously do not check them.

Just get it translated into English. It is not a big problem.

Don't forget UK Passports will [ if approved ] cost more from March 27th.
-
Pattaya DLT - I remember reading that a Yellow book was accepted but had to show wife's Blue book and a copy showing the same address .
A bit extreme to get married though to avoid a trip to immigration.

Are you sure it is closed on the 2nd, as this is a regular working day or not?
If so, that would mean a total chaos on the 3rd..... as all those who have been out of the country and returned on 29th of Dec up to 2nd of Jan (which includes myself) would have to do their "I am back to my regular address" reports on that day. Queuing will start by 6 am ?
Closed on 2 Jan- will be fun on the 3rd.

No, I am not wrong, I ever had that visa as I've Thai kid Vientiane issued it.
The Phnom Penh Embassy doesn't answer my mail when I request the requirements.
I assume when you say Thai kid the mother was Thai.
Your new baby will not be Thai.

EMS is expensive - I would send it registered . Signed for but much cheaper.

Thai Airways allow travel up to 36 weeks. For flights less than 4 hours duration and with a doctors certificate. She can fly tomorrow at 2.50 pm. You obviously do not want that.

Whatever card you use make sure you check your online account.
They took 104 pounds [ 52 x 2 ] in an instant. Naturally it took six days and numerous phone calls to get reimbursed..

Thanks Joe, I had already downloaded the Embassy website instructions for payment and found them unclear like the card payment instructions which indicate that a UK Debit card is accepted but only a Credit card if a local card is used.
Last year my Bangkok Bank VISA Debit was accepted. BBL now issue only the useless UnionPay as a replacement.
BritTim - Since Unionpay is unacceptable to the Embassy, my wife signed an authorisation to use her Krung Thai Bank VISA Debit card but that was rejected. Why is unclear.
Slightly off topic but Bangkok Bank do issue Rabbit VISA cards but are reluctant to issue and you may have to wait seven days. There is a thread about this in the Banking Forum.

I’ve been non resident since ‘95 , claimed my tax back every year and retained my uk DL with my fathers address which I also use for my bank account and some savings bonds and pension avc’s etc.
Never had a problem.
I realise it’s probably not politically correct but since I’m not classified as a permanent resident in LOS then I figure I’m entitled to this as I’ve paid my stamp ( National Insurance ) all this time.Of course you can. I am just saying that you and all the others are lying on the form.

If you reside at more than one address, one of which is in the UK, it's not a lie.

You can split hairs all day - if you are non resident and live in Thailand you cannot legally renew. I do not care that you do. You will have to lie on the form.

No. Just use a UK address of a friend or family member.
Absolute crap - you have to be resident in UK . Of course you can lie on the form.

Officially, yes. But it's not difficult to renew by post as long as you still have a UK address to use. It's well worth keeping a UK licence.

You mean lie.

You should renew it one way or another. In the UK this is easy as it's all done via the post, I guess it must be different down under.
If you don't renew it and do nothing for a few years and then at some point you return to Australia you will revert to being a learner driver again won't you ?
You must reside in UK to renew.

I still do not understand why they cannot publish the procedure. It has been months and still people have to ask the new procedure on an individual basis. It is crazy.

I thought you had to leave the country every 90 days?
