"She said the school would fix the gate soon to prevent a reoccurrence of the tragedy."
What is the Thailand definition of "Soon"?
Most of you already know.....so when will the gate get fixed?
In the meantime, expect more injuries and deaths
Amazing Thailand
3 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can not post what I'd like to say and do....it's illegal and violates site rules....I'd get a warning and probably a suspension
I'll probably get one anyways.....
It's worth a bollocking to reiterate absolute disgust in the "manyana" approach to safety the TITS have.

At least now she will be able to devote even more time to the welfare of animals and children.
.......personally, I thought the headline was that shed resigned for criticising them
"she accused Redshirts of being "dirty," "anti-monarchy" dissidents and that Thailand would be cleaner without." Don't see how she can be criticised for that!!
So the Red shirt's can't afford to wash, big deal.

Was Bangkok 'bombed' during WWII ?
Not a piss take, I didn't know.
What was the history?
The allies bombed it at the start of ww2 because Thailand sympathised with the Axis, particularly Japan. Then things started to get a bit hot and the Japs started to lose, so Thailand kinda changed sides later in the war, and just about denied everything, as they do. It's called 'pragmatism' - subai subai.
Actually sounds like they acted in their interest of their own people and country and did it successfully staying out as much as possible of a war they wanted no part of.
Not true; the Thai government declared war on the Allies pretty soon after after the Jap's invaded (although the Thai ambassador in Washington refused to hand the declaration to the Americans). Much later in the war having seen how the Japanese were enslaving Thai's, as well seeing the effect of Allied bombing, they sought to distance themselves from the Axis. They however remained within the Axis. At the end of the war the Thai government surrendered to the Allies and were briefly occupied by the British. Many Thai's remained loyal to the old King who had set up house in England (only to die shortly before Japanese hostilities) and actively resisted the Japanese.

Wikipedia is your friend! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Bangkok_in_World_War_II
"Allied bombing raids on the Thai capital city of Bangkok began even before Thailand had declared war, since the Empire of Japan was using the country as a staging area for its invasions of both Malaya and Burma, with the agreement of the Thai government after Japan's successful invasion of the southeast Asian country. The first raid came on January 7, 1942, when Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft flying fromRangoon, attacked military targets in the city.[1][2] The American Volunteer Group, together with seven No. 113 Squadron RAF and three No. 45 Squadron RAFBlenheim bombers, were involved in the first raid.[3] No. 113 Squadron's planes were piloted by No. 60 Squadron's air crew. The second night raid was carried out with 8 Blenheims on 24-25 January and included No. 60 Squadron RAF aircrew.[4] A final raid was made three days later by four Blenheims. This was the last raid by Blenheims until May or June 1945."
Fact check: Thailand was not involved in WW2.
SIAM was.
This enables Thais to say Thailand has never been invaded.
I believe Siam changed to Thailand on 23rd June 1939 only to revert back to Siam from 1945 to 1949 when they finally adopted Thailand (curiously a non Thai word) as their country's title.

Swimming pool with high voltage lighting, no RCDs, no earthing - An accident waiting to happen. When will these people ever learn?
Most Thai electricians have never heard of a Residual Current Detector or the need for an earth circuit, sad but this will continue to happen without government legislation.

How strange that in less than a week the Army can pay the farmers but the PTP exgovernment couldn't manage to do the same thing in more than 9 MONTHS.
A Thai farmer has told me that the Bank refused to pay out in a political move against the last government and has sat on the cash. I hope action is taken against the bank if this is proved correct.

IF and that is a mighty big if, the Generals can shape the RTP into a modern police force between now and the next election (should give them some time ) with merit based promotion and maintained professional standards, they will have done the Thai populace a huge service.
Come on, someone tell me I'm dreaming.
Promotion on merit will be something of a stumbling block through-out the uniformed Thai's me thinks!

Can you "undo" all the sex she gave you?
The answer is the same to your question.
Expensive sex I presume! I knew Ann(with the long fingernails) in Pattaya, at the last count she had @ 7 on the leash; built a mansion in Issan.

Kind of ironic the people who were actually elected are now the criminals but the Anti government people calling for the acts of sedition and the overthrow of a duly elected government are getting a pass (for the most part). Reminds me of Orwells Animal farm saying "All animals are equal some animals are more equal than others." I guess the Red Bull heir can come back now seeing this kangaroo court tells me the family of the police officer he killed are in trouble now. You owe me new Ferrari because you drive in front of me on my race track!!!
And yeah to all those yellow Koolaid drinkers you better check and make sure its not piss.
Sedition was raised by the Reds. Silly how you get things confused so fast
So it was the greens who invaded the airport complaining about CO2?

I wish she had stuck to her guns and not apologised. Perhaps a diplomatic apology for impolite words, but with no hint of regret at the message within. And even that was unnecessary as her words were said in private and not intended to be "eavesdropped" on. Her one mistake was not checking her content before opening her page to the public.
She is in a position to spin it around and ask why she is condemned for loving the King.
As a loyal subject who loves the King, it is her duty to criticise his detractors, and natural for her to despise them.
She should remain staunch in her stance.
in wanting all the "Reds" executed?

It is only a coup if they cancel elections and appoint a PM. We have to wait and see.
If you want to issue such loose criteria for what you consider a coup, then so be it... it's a coup.... who cares?
When a country is in tatters and most of it at the hands of the current government, and if it takes a coup to get rid of them and save that country from suffering any more, then coups should be the fashion of the day...... globally.
When a government fails to deliver on its mandate to the people on multiple fronts, corruption is openly obvious and they intimidate anyone with an opposing opinion and accuse them of treason, break articles of the constitution, rig lower and upper house votes......then they are no longer democratically legitimate in the principles of democracy and a coup is justifiable as a 'democratic removal'.
Most of the world prefers to choose it's government via the ballot box. Once elected and appointed, any minister who breaks the law is removed and prosecuted. There would then be an election for their vacant seat.
Any government who feels that serious disorder required the implementation of martial law has the right to order its military onto the streets, to assist the police in the capture and prosecution of the law breakers. The judiciary then has the power to punish said law breakers.
I think it was a serious miscalculation by the government in not protecting the the rights of its citizens to vote and I hope that the military is used to maintain order at all polling stations at the next general election.
The judiciary must act equally, without fear or favour against all. The prevention of the democratic process in the last election and other transgressions such as the invasion at the airport leaves me feeling that the judiciary act without impartiality This cannot be right and its not how the constitution of a solid democracy should function.
I sincerely hope that one day Thailand can learn to function under the tried and tested democratic processes with a constitution that is fair to all members of society.

She has the guts to stand up for what she believes in and not just grab grab grab
Really? & that includes executing everyone on the wrong side of the political divide. Even Adolf didn't quite manage that!

There's too much mud slinging at each other on TV, we all have our own views on Thailand's chronic political situation, but let's not slag each other off eh. I know there are a lot of Thai's on TV who like to stoke up the rhetoric for their side, but as outsiders we should of course each have our own personal view's without feeling it necessary to slag each other off!

Fair enough, go for it lady.
But lets not forget the widow of the army officer who was killed by the grenade, she has been trying for 3 years to get any response from Chalerm regards the killing of her husband who was only doing his duty protecting the country.
And the lady killed in the grenade attack on the sky train station, someone who had no connection with any side and was only going about her normal business.
Then there are all the others who were killed or injured by bullets and grenades fired in the general direction of the security forces.
" fair enough, go for it lady" Really, have a little heart man. very uncool.
Yes uncool; however, justice & Thai justice are quite separate. Roll on the day when the law treats all citizens as equals.

A test means absolutely NOTHING to those who don't/won't/take the test. When there are little/no consequences for operating a motor vehicle - ANY motor vehicle then what's the point?
I/we live in Isaan. I'll bet 99 percent of individuals operating motorized vehicles have no idea a/b road etiquette/rules of the road/nor any semblance of passing a test. Hell in our village and surrounding ones there are children as young as ???? 8 yrs old ridding motorbikes - with passengers. I even saw one whose feet could not reach the ground while seated.
Here they typically drive/ride however they choose including going the "wrong way" or making a right turn from the wrong lane into the wrong land.
Is there any wonder why Thailand has so many accidents?
Will "police" lol lol lol ever enforce anything here in Thailand???? lol ahhhhhhhhhh I crack myself up sometimes. lol
Cheers to all and hope for your continued safety on these dangerous/deadly roads.
Cops in Surin fined me for not having my licence on me wilst overloaded pickups and 12yo kids driving motorbikes without helmets passed unmalested & I have a 10yr clean & accident free licence in camera crazy UK.
Guess I deserved the fine as I was the only one in the queue wearing a seat belt!

She didn't have a dime transferred into her account. How can this be called corruption? Foreseeing substantial loss in the program is not good enough to convict her with the charges.
True. Of all the extreme corruption in Thailand, they chose to go after her. Totally unbiased...eh
I don't know if she's whiter than white, but it could be playing into the red's hands by the courts going after her. I would have thought her brothers past would be something thier leadership thought about before casting her into the arena. So if she is found guilty they will then have a martyr for the rank and file to avenge on the streets of Bangkok.
On the other hand, maybe the red's arn't that smart; time will tell!
-
Scum of the earth..
Red shirts too right?
Both sides have shown to harbor extreme elements who should be locked up but the police seem to fear implementing the law.

Suthep accomplished much by getting lil sis and others out. He cannot appoint a new pm of course. Now things will be decided through the courts. That will take time. But reforms before new elections seem unrealistic.
Suthep has the right idea and he also has massive backing from almost all government officials, probably the military, most of the country and most of the senate (the only functioning part of parliament left).
Democratically his demands make a lot more sense than a completely decimated cabinet with absolutely no mandate of even if they did have a mandate, no legislative powers to do anything.
They could only now encourage a same, same style undemocratic election process as Feb 2nd. They also have the choice to have election reforms initiated according to Abhisit's proposals so at least we can see elections that ALL are happy with..... but they won't because they only have vested interests in fraudulent elections that hand them a massive advantage again via corrupt means so they can hilariously call it 's mandate'.
PTP are the enemy of democracy... they don't want it, they can't capitalize on it, they can not get power through it.
It is now becoming most apparent that a coup is the only answer, and these idiots silenced for good.
The only thing Suthep is doing, is trying to give an alternative to a coup.... It is now one or the other and nothing in between is going to materialise.
I don't know how you gained the information on Suthep's massive backing, certainly not via the ballot box. I think the constitution is not fit for purpose and allows frivolous challenges to the elected government, plus the judiciary in Thailand are far from impartial; having too much power over politics and government.
An ousted party has to come up with policies that are attractive to the electorate in order to gain power and not run to the military or judiciary every time they lose.

In e years time, thaksin and yingluck with both be in jail. Suthep will the the supreme leader. Election will be abolish, and a dirty word. Any mention of election is an act of overthrowing the sovereign govt hence carry a 10 years jail sentence. Thailand will be free of corruption, and every thai shall live in peace and prosperity at last. All gambling and prostitution is abolish, and thai citizen can travel freely to usa and Europe freely without a visa anymore (like the Singaporean now).
You really do need to seek professional help with this delusions that you are suffering from.
Tongue in cheek or what?

We are scared ! When moving to Thailand 6 month ago we were very excited to live in such a lovely country. Now my wife doesn't want to leave the house, actually she wants to leave the country. We live near Chaeng Wattana. We have met very often the "guards", either in the street or in the nearby shopping mall. They look look like thugs, my wife says they look like bikers, now the sunday riders, the gangsters. Until now they were keeping their distance but now we read in the newspapers that they start to attack people at random. According to our expat colleagues it's the first time in recent time that protesters attack innocent bystanders. So far the violence has always been confined around the protest sites but now things seem to change especially for the follower of this monk. How can someone call himself "Buddha". It shows what a fanatic nuts we are dealing with.
Last night I couldn't sleep well. I am up very early this morning and the first I did was checking the news to see if anything happened in our neighborhood. Yesterday I was talking to my boss. I asked him either to assign me somewhere else or to accept my resignation. He asked me to wait a few days and promised a special bonus to make up for the trouble. Money is fine but if we see any new report of people attacked in their car by these so called "guards", we are out of here !
What you say is very sad. Just bear in mind though, that this is still one of the safest countries in the world in every other respect. Your location at Chaeng Wattana is unfortunate. Presumably you are renting as you've only been here a few months. Why not surrender your deposit and move to a more stable part of town. Then you can relax and enjoy the company of Thais at their best: jovial, fun loving, gentle, friendly people.
These thugs are like the Nazi brownshirts -mindless violent thugs, acting at the behest of a man who sounds more like Hitler every day. They do not represent the Thai people who reject them repeatedly at the ballot box. They represent the rich elite who are using them to maintain their control of the country.
I like that comment "one of the safest countries in the world in every other respect" not!
Travelling by bus safe? riding the railway's safe? To name just two!!
How many other activities can you name that illustrates Thailand as one of the safest countries in the world, not?

Thainess at it's best
Its a prison not a church.
The nicest people do not really end up in prison, many are lifers and could not care less to kill someone over the silliest thing
Nothing to do with Thainess,, same all over the world.
In GB it sometimes happens to child murderers & the like, but not for bike purloining!
