Every person has a desire to feel important in the eyes of others - some just don't have anything else to show off than being here longer.
How about the hundreds of ex Special Service guys who have retired to the bars of Thailand. There is a Belgian guy on Samui who tells everybody that he was seconded to the Australian SAS in Viet Nam. My mate , an ex Major, ex Aussie SAS tells me that it is all B/S as they never had foreigners seconded to them in VN.
I'd be inclined to disbelieve both of them.
Whats seconded to anything or anybody mean??????
In military terms seconded means to be attached to unit you don't actually belong to, usually temporarily. Very basic answer of course.

My lady been waiting since 10 April and still no e mail this is only for a visit visa. Yes many holidays but the time its taking is frustrating. She is going to Bangkok tomorrow to try and find out what the delay is. We are due to fly back to the UK together on Tuesday.
Good luck, please let us know how she gets on. I will certainly report here when we know anything.

Cheers for that info. We didn't make our submission until the 24th April and they received documents on 25th. No actually in a rush for the visa, just wanted a rough idea of how long it's taking these days. I saw a poster on another thread saying they submitted on 10th April and still nothing.

Cheers, just wondering as we've been waiting about 2 weeks now.

How long did it take for them to make the decision?

Has anyone got a UK visit visa from the new VFS place recently and if so how long did it take for a decision? I looked online and they are claiming around 15 days. I guess this is working days too.
Any recent first hand experience?

Unless things have changed, the kid doesn't need to go, and if going for a uk passport it is only your birth certificate that is needed.

I hope so for your sake. Good luck.

Congratulations. It's the best thing ever.

I had a look at the place today. The pool is a mess and the "P" from the estate name has dropped down which although a minor thing does look crappy. but there seemed to be some workers doing gardening. Maybe the publicity helped?

Will in place with family at home. One house in uk providing income. One up country that can never be taken away near her family and one being built near pattaya with a mortgage and associated insurance. Small crappy 50k usd life insurance and a few pensions. British passport for daughter. At the moment I can't do much more. But I'll try. They are all that maters to me.

In the end I combined a trip to Bangkok and went to my regular place in MBK. Molakor tattoo. Very pleased.

Just to note. Stay away from the tattoo shop halfway down thepprasit market area. I went to check it out. Appalling. Dog running around in the shop. Very dirty.

So, how did it go?
-
Well they did return all originals to us so that was good. Now fingers crossed we get a 2 year visa or I've just spunked 300 quid for a 6 month one.

Whilst I agree with the structure of the western way of raising kids I have to admit all my thai nieces and nephews seem to have turned out very well. I don't agree with them being glued to the tv all the time and one thing I dont like to see anywhere is kids seeing their parents drunk. I never had to see mine like that. My kid is being brought up more in the western style and thankfully our pediatric unit also has behavioural development checkups 6 monthly. This was great for the wife to hear from a thai doctor how detrimental too much tv is in the early years.

It's sad you have to use vfs now as we recently did my daughter's uk passport direct at the British embassy and the service was excellent. I hope vfs will work as well. But with doing all the visa applications as well I seriously doubt it will be as easy.

Not a problem for me, I was just pointing out that it wasn't me who asked the question.
Actually someone asked me the question.Just noticed Texasrangers post above asking the previous poster if they were gay or not.
Yes, I did. Is that a problem?

I thought it was a gimmick, especially with the beard. I mean, why would you have the beard???
And it looks like it paid off.
