  1. Hi. I'm Nok. 23 years old and a graduate in Political Science from Thammasat University. My ideal man must have some of the following qualities.

    1) A complete obsession with Thaksin Shinawatra and the Red Shirt movement to the point of being terrifying and making me consider that the guy has no other life whatsover. The ability to bring Thaksin or the Reds into a completely unrelated topic is a must. When asked

" Is there a place in Udon Thani where I can buy a set of feeler gauges? "

    the answer

" Udon Thani? Red Shirt stronghold. Don't go there. You'll die. "

    really turns me on.

    2) I like a guy with a strong sense of right and wrong. A man who, when short changed 25 satang in a Saraburi 7-11 4 years ago is convinced that every Thai is out to rip them off.

    3) A man who isn't afraid to stereotype all Thais into one convenient group.

    4) A guy who denigrates all Thai women because they were dumber than dog shit in choosing their female partner who Stevie Wonder could have seen was a leech in human form.

    5) A man who considers themselves fluent in Thai because after 20 years of living here they can order a Chang and the bill in the local language. Even better is one who considers Thais stupid because they don't understand him when he uses English in Family Mart.

    7) A guy who flies of at the handle at the mildest leg pull, has a complete inability to use any sort of self depreciating humour and, despite posting page upon page of their opinions, when faced with a point that counters their argument, simply ignores the post.

    8) My man must be an expert on Thai culture. Set in stone. Heaven forbid he should ever acknowledge a wai from a child or an inferior with a small wai of his own. In facr, it would be best if he never used a wai at all because, after all, " I'm not Thai I'm farang"

    9) My Adonis must also have strong opinions but be completely oblivious to the basic facts . " Thais don't want us here " is a good one although it's obvious to all right thinking people that Thais don't want you here because you're a prick. Constantly droning on about the " Draconian " immigration laws is a real bonus.

    Interested? PM me.

You should of had plenty to choose from by now! :D

  2. I had home insurance that covered up to 80,000 baht cash in the home. but only 60% of the cost of laptops, mobiles and cameras. it was Trafalger Insurance I think. I think it cost about 12k per year for that policy. I say this just incase anybody is looking for insurance at all.

That is interesting that they would cover cash as it's hard to prove how much cash you had in your house. Sounds like an okay policy. Is there a deductible amount on the claim? My deductible always seemed higher than the loss. Plus when you make a claim the premium goes up. I hate insurance companies!

Good Question, I cant answer as I do not have that policy anymore so cant check. but I should imagine the policy would have suited them better than me anyway.

  3. Why do drivers of automatic geared cars shift to park whenever they stop in traffic

Actually, they shift it to neutral to avoid having to keep their feet on the brakes at a red light. Nothing particularly unusual about this, I would think.

Shifting to neutral is just one click on the gear stick, putting it into park, you have to click it past the reverse click which makes the reverse lights flick on then off. most times I see the reverse light go on then off meaning its gone into park. once I had a dildo of a taxi driver actually think he put his into drive and reversed back very nearly hitting my car. who do you think they would believe if I told them he reversed into me? I bet I would of paid for that one.

so yes I would agree with Zorro1 on this statement.

  4. Just a quick update.

Police think it was Thai or Myanmmar as the hole cut was so small, even the misses who is 8 and a bit stone couldn't get through it.

On the insurance side, just found out that my very expensive Household Insurance from an Australian Company doesn't include Jewelry, laptops or cash. The very things that are likely to be robbed so that is worth checking out if you have it.

    Now that does suck!

Agreed! But I never keep cash in my house, that why I have ATM cards. There is usually a Bangkok Bank or Siam Commercial Bank ATM at most every 7-11 and I have accounts at both. I don't think any insurance covers cash, most cover jewelry, if you have photos or some kind of proof and I think laptops are sometimes a separate policy...

Sorry for your loss! I have been broken into once, it was distressing. It was in the USA, never here... Knock on wood!

  5. Why do Thaiophiles constantly defend a corrupt, feudalistic and elitist society that defines Thailand?

Why do people live in Thailand if they dont like it here?

Because I don't live in Thailand, but choose to visit multiple times per year and enjoy it for what it is.

I do not live in Thailand for the reasons in my original post. Along with the fact that farang have ZERO rights in Thailand.

And just where did I say that I do not like the country? If I did not enjoy the country, why would I continue to visit the Kingdom?

    What is your excuse?

He wasn't referring to you in his post, you just associated yourself with it.

You spend thousands of $$$$ per year on air travel travelling to this Feudalistic, corrupt and elitist country, who's a clever boy then ? thumbsup.gif

Plus 1 big green for you. :D I like it.

  7. No, I am saying that I live here and choose to stay here because I like it. if you dont then go somewhere else.

I have my daily gripes about the place just like most here, but do the pros and cons on living here, for me Thailand comes out on top. I can take care of me and my family, I do not need a nanny state to back me up.

Understood, but your response is not in context with my assertion. The 'question' I posed was specific. Why do Thaiophiles defend Thailand when they know what goes on behind the scenes?

Read my response again please. I never defended Thailand, I said I weighed up the pros and cons and choose Thailand. sure there is coruption, wouldnt you rather pay 100 baht then lose points on your license? I prefer this to losing points and having a court date to be fined for speeding or whatever.

The Thai elite do not pose a threat to me, so that doesnt stop me from enjoying the place.

Today, the word feudal is sometimes used as a general term for a set of social relationships that seems unprogressive or out of step with modern society. I gather it is this that you mean when you say Feudalistic? I would agree on this, but then that gives Thailand its charm.

If I wanted England I would have stayed there! :D

  8. Because I don't live in Thailand, but choose to visit multiple times per year and enjoy it for what it is. What is your excuse?

I live here full time and like it too :D

So, are you denying that Thailand is a corrupt, feudalistic and elitist society Mr Thaiophile? If so, then perhaps you should do a fact-check before questioning my question.

  10. i didn't read any of this thread but in case no one answered the question correctly, it's Thailand.

You are right. Its just a another thread for another Farang who for some unknown reason wants to prove how ' Thai' he is and how much he wants to become a Thai

Why they bother i dont know. unpopular at school i would say.. just need to be loved here becuase they werent in there own country ... keep dreaming guys.

Dansat. your posts do not ad up. I have just been through your posting history and it would seem you own a business on Samui aimed at the tourists and expats down there. your words! but then in your latest posts you are on a contract and cant wait to leave, also it was your job that brought you here. your words again. I couldnt care less about you but took a look at your profile because you seemed to be following me around at one point. I realised though that you are actually very unhappy with your life and you get a kick out of trying to upset posters who are happy here in Thailand.

I feel sorry for you. I hope you sort whatever out so you can be happy wherever you are. :(

Posted it here as well, just in case you missed it in the last thread :jerk:

  11. I have one burning question and an observation.

Question. How long in terms of days has the poster spent with the GF? I know he said he knew her for a year but how many days has he spent with her?

Observation. Dansat. I think you will find out as you stay in Thailand longer that you are told what you want to hear. The more important you are to the people you associate with the more you are told what you want to hear.

After you not only speak Thai but can listen and understand Thai and get out on your own and establish relationships with other Thai men you will begin to have an idea of where the prostitute, mia noi and other Thai women fit into the total picture.

If you want to know about bar girls you need to immerse yourself in their culture. Not as a customer but as a member of the fraternity.

Almost everything I have read about the genre has been from an end user point of view and it is not accurate. Nor is your point of view as an observer. You simply don't have the facts.

me speak Thai . hahahaha :D No chance. I have never tried to learn Thai and never will. I am not married to a Thai woman and never will be. I am only here becuase my job took me here and i only stay here becuase i am on good money doing so. . As soon as my contract is up i am on the first place out of hear for good. Back to a country of my choosing in the good old EU. Where i have land that *I* own. :P

Sick buffalo's , Setting up a company to own 49 % of land, a country where men dont shake hands, hahaha pleaseee.

Me speak Thai your kidding me right ???

When giving your opinion of things Thai you probably should post a disclaimer. Something like, I don't speak the language, have only been here a few months and know almost nothing about the people or culture nor do I ever want to. That would save a lot of useless debate.

I have lived here over 4 years, seems about 14 years.. but what the heck the cash is rolling in. :D

  13. Good point. I reckon the 1st World is becoming the new 3rd World ... mounting debt, unemployment, limited industrial output, corrupt politicians and a useless police force only interested in raising cash from motorists ..... but that 's why most of us on this forum no longer live in the UK.

If you dont like it, then Leave!

    Oh, You already did! :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You might be folling him soon... I am told by a little birdy in Bangkok you dont quite live the 'thai lifestyle' yourself. Does your wife even have her feedom to go out on her own yet or do you still not trust her ??? :jap:

I dont know what you are on about, But I was joking to the fact he can leave the UK if he dont like it! and the same as me, he already did :D

I dont live a Thai lifestyle, you are correct. I live an Expat lifestyle in Thailand.

  15. Surely it's possible to get some advance information on when these vehicles will be in your area? Enough time to organize a small band of ukulele-playing nudists riding unicycles and wearing KKK hats to follow the van around.

It seems a Streetview vehicle would be a prime target for flashmobbing also. ph34r.gif

Lol, I woke my wife up laughing out loud to that one.
