It's not a visa, it's a permit of stay.
The stamp reads 'extension of stay permitted up to ....................' It's that date you enter.
Something has changed in the online system and a lot of people are experiencing the same rejection reason. I have successfully reported online for well over a year entering only the 'Date entered Thailand' field which is mandatory - the 'visa expiration date' I've left blank as it has always been optional and still is. Entering the date you suggested in your post - 'extension of stay permitted up to ....................' still ended up with a rejection.

They want the very first date of entry into Thailand and the expiry date of your current extension.
The entry date I understand but do you mean the date your one-year retirement visa expires or the date your next 90-day report is due ??

I only use this for personal use and it does exactly what I want, plus it's free.

Worked fine on a new Thai phone July 2023, but to set up you need a one time code SMS sent to your registered phone number to activate it (which was a UK number which I had with me)
Thanks UKResonant. That's what concerns me. My registered phone number is a UK landline and I only have a Thai mobile (which IS listed in my internet banking account). I've heard these 'one time codes' are hit and miss as to whether or not a Thai mobile will receive them. I've had problems with them not arriving before.
I posed this question because in another thread someone said he was told by a NW staff member that card readers would be phased out at some point. This is a bit disconcerting if you can't set the mobile banking app up and even more so if you don't own a smart phone, wherever you live - and yes some older folks don't like them and don't use them.

I posed this question on another thread but it got swamped by other comments so here goes (again).
Has anyone any experience with the Nationwide Banking app on a Thai mobile. Can you do it and what hoops, if any, do you have to jump through to get it working ??
Thanks.

Been reading this thread with interest.
Can you use the mobile app in Thailand using a Thai phone number ?? If so, do you have to contact NW to get some details in order to log on or do you just have to ensure your Thai number is listed in the contact details ??
Thanks.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I don't really want to get a UK sim. I'd have to get another phone for a start 'cos I already have 2 Thai SIM cards in my phone. Ok I could keep swapping sims whenever I needed to use it.

Can you receive OTOP numbers from a UK bank using one of these?
I haven't had the need to get an OTP from the UK until now. So I don't know.

Strictly speaking, codes from banks are not actually SMS messages. Even if you receive a regular SMS, you will not necessarily receive a bank one. It is immensely difficult to predict if you will receive an SMS over an international border.
I suggest creating a UK telephone number in Thailand, such as with giffgaff. This will work.
OK thanks Gaccha I'll look into that. I spoke with AIS & CAT and they both said no blocks were in place and they had received no messages from the UK. So much for that !!

No, all services are not blocking. I will assume you can talk to you service provider and unlock the blocking as well.
Mmm thanks. I will contact the providers - AIS & CAT - and ask them. I didn't know you could unlock the blocking, in fact until this recent situation occurred I didn't know blocking was in force. In the 20 years or so of living here it has never been an issue.

Your UK source is using correct code for Thailand numbers? Am just a dumb dumb phone user myself.
Yes +66. I received a call from them on one of the numbers and they confirmed the 2 numbers numerous times.

Hi. Apologies if this addressed elsewhere.
I am unable to receive SMS messages from a financial institution in the UK. I have AIS & CAT sim cards and the texts never arrive to either.
Customer Service in the UK say it's probably due to the fact that there is link in the text that directs you to a secure website for further verification.
Has anyone else experienced this ?? Do all providers here block messages in this way ?? I find it quite bizarre because I receive other messages containing links that are clearly spam.
Thanks.

Rental contract maybe?
Yep but it's all in Thai. I guess it'll need a translation service, but I can happily continue.

Would a Thai driving licence work for proving your address?
It may well, but I don't have one.

Ask your Thai Bank to print you a statement with your name, Thai address in English language.

I imagine you would need your internet bills to get translated and certified. I seem to remember the responses were not the quickest but if you call their helpline it is actually "helpful" - use a Skype account or similar to contact them
OK many thanks. Will get into that.
How would I get an internet bill translated ?? I've never had to do anything like that before

Update on my story if anybody is interested - Barclays are cancelling me in November (although interestingly if I can't get things sorted out by then the apologist crony from them said I could keep the account open for a few MONTHS (not years) longer) so I've been searching other LEGIT (i.e. not using fake UK addresses which is FRAUD chaps) means.
I registered with WISE but am uniimpressed. They don't FEEL like a bank
I tried all the other "big four" (as they used to be) banks international offering and found them much of a muchness - gives us a hundred grand, stick in the account and don't touch it. Yeah right effectively paying this amount for the privilege of a bank account. Except one -
Lloyds need an income to start with of 50k GBP a year OR deposit 25k (which I think you can take it after a "certain period"). After that, so long as you pay them GBP7.50 a month there are no other income requirements. As I haven't retired yet I can qualify. Joining was a bit of a long-drawn out process but I have FINALLY got it working, Internet banking and all.
Hi nglodnig.
I applied for a Lloyds International Savings Account after reading your post, was provisionally accepted but have a few questions.
How long did it take the text message to come through with the code to upload the certified passport ?? It's been 3 days (not long I know) now and I've heard nothing yet.
They accepted my address which is in Pattaya, Thailand - that's a good start. But, the Proof of Residential Address is a problem as any utility bill doesn't have a name on it (and they are in Thai) and the Internet bills are online and in Thai.
I have no direct mail coming here from the UK.
How did you get around that problem and - as you were successful - did you have to get that document certified (as well as the passport) and then post it to them in the Isle of Man ??
Thanks and apologies for the long-winded question.

Interesting. Thanks lopburi3.

Is the transfer amount too much by chance?
The account is valid?
It has worked previously?
There no problems with the account and the there are sufficient funds to transfer 10K out. The thing is ALL Krungsri ATMs - except the one outside the branch - fail with a 'closing down' screen.

You don't have a smartphone to use the app?
probably leave the ATM problem a day or so and it will be solved
No I don't use a banking app - plus all failures occur at different ATMs, so something more fundamental is going on.

Has anybody had a problem with transferring money via the Krungsri (a.k.a. Ayudhya) bank ATM ??
I only seem to be able to transfer money from my account to a Kasikorn account from the ATM located outside my branch. The failures occur after I've chosen Kasikorn as the receiving bank, entered the account number and the amount. It whirrs and then says "Machine is closing down". When I enquired in the bank, they didn't know. Actually they said 'a communication problem' between computers. But every time ?? No, I don't think so.

Thanks S.P. but having had someone take a look it appears it's a circuit board issue.

I have a problem with a Zircon Smooth-i UPS. I believe the battery needs replacing, but basically I've charged it for many hours and when I plug in any item (from a simple phone charger to a PC monitor) it immediately shuts down.
Does anyone know of anywhere I can get it looked at in Pattaya as I understand the main service centre is in Bangkok ??
Thanks.

It has recently been brought to my attention that 'Wise' (formerly 'Transferwise') has the following restrictions in place (since Jan 7th actually) :-
Does anyone know if every financial institution outside of Thailand will have the same rules ??

I took a screenshot of the online form I originally filled in and have been using that as a reference ever since. I have entered nothing different and used calendars and search buttons every time - and had 3 rejections.
