  1. What do you do about the tamper sticker on ACER computers covering the drive door? Warranty void if opened.

I thought these stickers on easily user serviceable parts such as hard drive and ram had been proven in court not to interfere with warranty claims - Acer as an international company should know this.

I would be more worried about passwords , VPN certs , cookies stored on the hard drive .

  2. No, you used this in an attempt to back up your own viewpoint by omitting relevant details.

As far as you are concerned this couple are shoplifters and you seize on anything that can support your opinion even when it means omitting part of a quote.

It may turn out that there is evidence of their guilt, but from the evidence that I have access to it is impossible to say. I have seen the video supplied by King Power and I have seen the photo of the couple in the news article. Are they the same couple - who knows? My first feelings were that it may possibly be the same man, but I have extreme doubts about the woman.

I am happy that I can reserve judgement until I am made aware of undeniable facts. I have seen nothing that can persuade me that this couple are guilty or not, so I will not form an opinion until I have more knowledge.

You hjave your own agenda for some reason and have decided to judge them guilty. You lack the ability to consider the facts and it does frighten me that a person like you is able to sit on a Jury.

my agenda is to determine for myself if innocent people are being shaken down and so far I have yet to be convinced of it . People making judgements between the photo and the video is their call - I have not done so - my judgements have been on the video and whether it looks to me as if they have shoplifted an item. I don't think KP has released a video of some other couple.

as for your snide little insults ,maybe it is better for you to be a little more broadminded in your outlook

  3. I try a 9 character password and it works with the Itouch.

The 63 character password is used to have more safety ??

the 9 character password is probably 64bit WEP encryption ( though I thought it was 10 characters ) and that has been cracked since 2001 - there maybe a firmware update for your apple device which will allow you to use WPA encryption , but I will leave that discussion to other apple device owners :)

but any encryption is better than nothing

  4. You know full well that he was not referring to this case as you have been selective with the quote. He was talking about paedophiles that go free

Maybe you should have included more in your quote

This has happened in a lot of cases of arrests of paedophiles. They may be guilty or not guilty. But they are almost all shaken down.[/b]

In terms of reporting however they have a piece of paper which says they are not guilty and can thus can sue the pants off anyone who suggests otherwise.

As for the videos Andrew has seen, I've posted a question for him and so will await his reply.

and haven't the ingram couple got the same piece of paper ? I took his quote to indicate all who posses the "I am 9002 certified innocent document".

  5. Unfortunately not possible!

PDA's do not have USB interfaces so cannot communicate directly to the CAT USB modem.

there is a fujitsu PDA which had a USB host - but I doubt drivers are available

depending on your skill level an Asus wireless router with USB port running openwrt can accept some of these USB modems.

  6. and Andrew Drummond says he has seen some more video and believes it is the couple in both ?

Actually, that is NOT what he says.

He says that he has seen the videos (Same as we have seen?) and one other. He doesn't actually state that the one other was a video of the couple. He does state that he believes the couple in the video are the same couple, but we don't know if he has had access to a better quality video than we have.

ok - will Quote Andrew Drummond again and people can draw their own inference

Yes. I have seen this video and one other. Also clips from the arrest of the Irish woman. I believe the people are the same people.

and I will add another quote from Andrew Drummond

In terms of reporting however they have a piece of paper which says they are not guilty and can thus can sue the pants off anyone who suggests otherwise.
  7. although this video is very vague whilst the couple claims that it is not them on the video.

and Andrew Drummond says he has seen some more video and believes it is the couple in both ?

    "What generally happens is this.

When an outbound traveller buys anything from a shop in the airport -- and it could well be a small-value purchase, not necessarily an expensive one -- one of three things can happen:

    a: the cashier either drops an extra item into your shopping bag without you noticing;

b: the cashier gives you that extra item saying it's a free gift; or

c: if you're buying more than one item, the cashier charges you for one less than you're buying.

A few metres out of the shop, a security guard stops you, saying you have been fingered as a shoplifter. Your shopping bag is searched and sure enough, you have one unpaid item in it.

You are taken to a police station and miss your flight. Your passport is taken away from you, and you are thrown into a lock-up. At this point, you're totally desperate. Out of the blue, a fixer appears. He tells you that he knows how to handle the police. For a fee. The first step is to post bail, because you really don't want to stay in a police lock-up for days on end. He comes back and tells you he has negotiated bail for such and such an amount. You arrange for a wire transfer of money from your friends and family in your home country to post bail and pay his fee.

But you still can't leave the country, nor check in to any hotel without your passport. The fixer then arranges for you to stay in a no-questions-asked love motel, which charges you an above-market price.

Finally, your passport re-appears, and you are told the police have found no evidence and have dropped charges. Yet, your bail money is not returned to you, though at least you are free to fly home. By then, you're easily S$20,000 poorer."

and this - is there any evidence that it actually happens ?? or is it just a story to scare the easily led ?

people seem to have the idea that if you have enough money for an international flight you don't thieve

  8. you will need the 63 character password on anything you want to connect to the wireless access point. - the idea of it in a text file is so you can copy it to a USB memory stick or email it etc so you can then copy and paste the key when you need it - I don't think you want to be entering it by hand every time :)

yes your USB wireless adapter will work fine - just install it and then open its utility ( or the default windows one ) and look for your SSID ( Wayan ) and connect , then paste in the 63 character password.

  9. ok - wifi

wifi requires you to select a channel - between 1 and 11 - if you are in a condo you might want to check out what channels are in use and choose one 2 away , but if you are just in a house if probably will not be an issue.

also you need an SSID - default now is linksys , change it to something. ( I use hello )

next is the security , basically you choose between WEP ( not very secure , but common as you have a shorter key ) or WPA .

WPA is recommended and once you have the linksys generate you a key copy and paste a copy into a text file , so you can then transfer it via usb etc ( even email ) and then copy and paste it into the boxes on the laptops/desktops when you hook them up via wifi.

if you are using the laptop now to config via LAN cable , then keep a copy of the text doc with the key on it and then you can copy and paste later.

the LAN connected machines will not require the key

  10. Yes, In his statement the Sri Lankan said the couple were extorted.

I have not seen a statement where the Sri Lankan claims the couple were extorted.

We have seen a poor quality video in which a couple probably stole a wallet. Anyone who claims to be able to positively identify the couple from that video is a liar. If I showed a video of an Asian/Farang couple taken from that angle and such poor quality,

Andrew Drummond claims to have seen other video footage and says it is the same couple

  11. to crucify and extort those thieves -OUTSIDE OF THE LAW- is another crime for which there is no excuse.

what proof is there of extortion except for the statement by the ingrams ?

we already know that the 200,000 baht they paid for bail was available for them to collect with the correct paperwork .

The statement obtained from the Sri Lankan

in which he said the ingrams were extorted :)

people seem to be quite firm on what rules should apply to the determination of the ingrams guilt or innocence for shoplifting, but then discard those same rules when it comes to determining if they were extorted/scammed .

  12. just to be sure - you originally connected to the Billion with USB or with LAN cable? ( it cannot be firewire as the billion does not have a firewire port )

    if LAN follow on below

ok - you hit save and now safari cannot find page ?

if you have managed to change the LAN IP of the linksys to 192.168.1.250 and turned off its DHCP server now is the time to connect a LAN cable from a LAN port on the linksys to the LAN port on the Billion

you should then try the new address of the linksys - 192.168.1.250 and see if you get the config pages back again

  13. The TOT Modem = Billion , Bipac 5210S RC

    Linksys Device, model: WRT.54GL

What I have to buy to get online with laptop and PC

    Thanks again

to connect via wifi you will not have to purchase anything

to connect via LAN cable you might have to purchase a cable.

the 54GL will have come with a 1.5 metre cable and I take it you had a LAN cable previously that connected the billion modem to a computer .

I notice the Billion modem has both a USB and a rj45 ethernet port - which cable have you been using to connect to the modem ?

  14. to crucify and extort those thieves -OUTSIDE OF THE LAW- is another crime for which there is no excuse.

  15. It's apparent that some posters do not understand law nor understand that evidence in a court of law is used by the prosecution to prove their case.

Quite simple and any decent lawyer would have p*ssed this case if the prosecutors were even foolish enough to take it to court.

the only evidence you know of is some video that has been compressed and uploaded to the internet , a statement from KP and and interview in the Times.

do you really think that is it ?

with all your years in Thailand do you think the Thai police will probably have a signed confession ( in thai of course ) ?

  16. Does anyone have any idea why they supposedly threw the wallet in the bin?

because you could then dazzle with this logic

As they were not apprehended leaving the store with the stolen goods there is no case to answer.

and be sure you were safe from prosecution :)

cleaners are forever emptying the bins at the airport to make sure some idiot doesn't place a bomb in one like was done years ago by the Pattani crowd.

or maybe covered by video cameras - do you think there are only cameras in the KP stores at the airport ? the place is infested with them , so the ingrams will appear on a few recordings.

  17. at the back of the router are 5 ports - 4 LAN (local area network ) and one set further apart WAN ( wide area network )

not sure exactly what yout TOT modem is but I will assume it has a rj45 LAN ethernet socket.

I will also assume that the modem connects to the internet and controls the connection via its inbuilt PPPoE software - username / password etc

normally these devices at default will have an IP address of 192.168.1.1 and run a DHCP server which will automatically assign an address in the 192.168.1.x range to any computer which connects to its LAN port.

    first step

your linksys will also default have 192.168.1.1 assigned to its LAN side and will also be running a DHCP server handing out addresses in the 192.168.1.x range

as you can see both are going to conflict , so you need to change the linksys before you can actually plug it in to the modem.

so take your mac and connect its LAN port to a linksys LAN port ( 1 of the 4 LAN ports ) and then open up your web browser on the MAC and put 192.168.1.1 into the address bar

this should bring you to a login page - user = admin , pass = admin

now you will need to manually set an IP for the LAN side of the linksys so it will not conflict with anything else - suggest you go right up to nearly the top of the range and set it to 192.168.1.250 and also find the checkbox for enable DHCP and deselect it , then save

next step will be to connect another LAN port on the linksys to the modem LAN port ( keep the LAN in from the mac to the linksys LAN ) and you should have internet but the address now for the linksys will be 192.168.1.250

let us know if this is too confusing or if you are ready for the next step which will be to set up your wifi etc. also please give us the model of your linksys device

  19. but informed sources in Fiji say Thaksin is considering investing $300 million in the country.

In return, he would probably be assured safety there from extradition, if he should choose to use Fiji as one of his bases in exile.

Commodore Bainimarama seized power in a coup, purportedly to stop corruption.

you do wonder if these self proclaimed leaders have the intelligence to notice the incongruities .

So he's traveling around in his own private jet and he's not using his real name when he travels... that clears up a number of previously uncertain issues.

what countries has he used this assumed identity in to transit and has he broken any laws ?

if he had kept quiet he probably would have been still free to travel anywhere except Thailand and even that he may have been able to negotiate - but add the ego and stir :)
