  1. I did submit a proposal ...but had it removed, possibly for describing the result, but Ill give it one last shot. A swnging arm actually a weighted swinging arm attached preferably to the ceiling of a narrow walkway in the house, I had mine chromed and indeed when in the ceiling position ie fixed it looked quite a feature. The arm pivoted on a chromed fixed point In the armed mode ie (a piece of fishing line at ankle height) was pulled the retaining pin was withdrawn that held the arm in position sending the arm on its way,the head of the arm about 4.5 feet from ground level, A spike (removable) was attached at a position of 280 degrees from the horizontal, the angle to give maximum result on the downward swing.

Did its job anyway, had no more callers after one trial run.

Not a smart system for a falang in any home in Thailand.

If used, it would have you in and out of court for the rest of your bank balance or life, what ever goes first.

    not a good idea.

From recent reports, it's probably best to assume that you won't be able do any processing from around 10:30am until 1:00pm.

Depending on how busy they are on any given day, they start restricting access to the ticket machine as early as 10:30am so they can be assured that they will have that revered 12:00 to 13:00 unannounced "lunch hour" to themselves and not be bothered by those pesky foreigners who are expecting services.

    Mai Pen Rai . . . :)

    .

    Ha Ha.

So you have learnt something. if only to get up a bit earlier.

Wont say any more, as the mods will be around again.

    Have a nice day.

  3. .

My understanding is that they are NOT open on Saturdays -- They were for a short period of time awhile back, but that was scrapped.

They also don't tell you that they take a break from 12:00 to 13:00+ for lunch. There is no notice of this break that I could find anywhere, including the hours that are prominently displayed on the front door.

I arrived at 12:20 for 90-Day Reporting and was surprised at the lack of activity when I entered the place. Two of Imm's "finest" immediately tried to kick me out -- I pointed to the 8:00 to 16:30 Hours on the door -- One of them indignantly shouted "LUNCH" and stormed out.

I persevered and was able to find a kind-hearted agent who took the 30 seconds to process my 90-day application and I was on my way.

Unfortunately for Chonburi Imm., a large group of Expats waiting outside who had been duped by the non-announced lunch break immediately rushed through the doors. -- I quickly departed in fear that I would be arrested for inciting a riot :)

Are you taking the piss mate.

What kind of guy goes to an immigration office between 12 and 1 oclock.

think your find most of the world goes to lunch around this time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as for rude staff shouting at you, at the office in Jomtien, thats just bullshit.

Get out of bed in the morning and do what you need to do, then hit the bars around midday.

    works fine for me.

  4. Currently booze is cheap for the BiB - they set up roadblocks and fine drivers a couple of times each month, and the pocket

    money pays for the booze.

Well, I heard they even collect free beer from the karaokes instead of the tax as most of those karaokes Have Leo beer but no money....

Heard they might get a free jump as well, lucky boys. :)

  5. if i go to stock up on ( back home items) TEA , the others are right pack what you like and arrange for someone to send to you before you leave.

<deleted> is this, does your mum do that for you. :D

Can you provide some details, 6,000 or 10,000, this is a big diferance for people on a budget. :)

  6. To the Op

Most People from Thailand don’t give a sausage about what happened or happens outside of Thailand.

And half don’t give a sausage about what happened yesterday out side there own village.

    Shame but TIT.

Please don’t stop eating German sausages or buying German cars.

    That's just <deleted>, grow up.

BTW your wife will be board in 5min if she is asked to read sub titles.

    Thats not sound advice.

Why not? Apart from the fact he has to be aware of the little rule not to invest more then one is willing to lose!

    That was why

It sure as heck is a much better plan then opening a beerbar to make your fortune :D

Most bars are an expensive hobby for a few years, not a business.

I, just as Rimmer, know a fair few foreigners (along with their wives/girlfriends) who have this kind of investments, and they can live quite comfortably of them, with virtually zero head aches.

Apart from his unrealistic return on investment of course, so up to him if he can live the more realistic return we have projected...

The statement you can not lose, is just <deleted> stupid for pattaya. :):D

Good luck to the Op, hope he get a return on his dosh.

  8. This is doable, everywhere you go you can see low cost rented accommodation units, they are always full, even out where I am close to Phoenix a German guy has a nice little development of units that are always full with people waiting. He has two sections one for Thai people at a slightly lower rent and one for budget ex pats.

Build maybe 5 first, you can not lose, you always have the land and the building cost is very small.

    Thats not sound advice.

  9. ^ The TQ still is the only go go bar IMHO.

    Its gone down hill.

Thai boxing on the tv. no rock vids. :D

Flashing red lights on the stage. very off putting. :D

About 30 girls in there the other day, not was one sitting with a customer

all to bussy talking to each other. :)

Give the place a miss now . its crap.

  10. 3,000 Baht a week shopping bill for a family of 3 which includes beer for home consumption.

i spend 13 to 15,000 baht a month for me/wife and 12 year old daughter but what you have to bear in mind is

a)the quality you get is higher

b)150 pound in the uk gets you 1 trolley half full 150 quid over here gets you 4 trolleys full thats everything for cooking cleaning washing

I then spend maybe 500 baht a week on fresh veg she goes to market everyday

To be honest my standard of eating/living is 3 times that it was in the uk were was corned beef is now best steak

That's true if you fill all four carts up with offal.

and glass noodles and only eat Thai food.

But it's not that big a difference to the cost of shopping in Tessco Thailand and Tesco Uk

A few years back it was cheap, but the crap exchange rate and the ever increasing cost of goods in tesco / lotous, makes that gaps not so big now.

certainly not the size you pulled out the air.

BTW was in ASDA afew weeks ago in the uk, filled a cart up for 80 quid.

BTW was in Tesco/Lotus yesterday cart 3/4 full 4.500 baht.

    Have a nice day.

  11. He new better.

Just hope his nice secondhand low mileage bike

was not In 500 bits, three weeks before at some Noi and Bua

chop shop in pattaya. you have know idea of the history of any secondhand bike in Pattaya.

unless you new the owner vey very well before.

Save a few hundred pounds, it makes perfect sense.

For me, would not let my wife or kids or myself, drive a used bike in pattaya.

They are worth a bit more than a few hundred pounds to me.

    Happy riding. :)

  12. Mobi

Dont be a fool in Pattaya.

Don't by at any auction in Thailand.

Go and buy New, they are CHEAP. Honda wave 125 0r 100cc

if you buy secondhand, your hospital bill we be a lot more than the cost

of a new motor cycle, if you end up with a lemon.

and don't listen to the knobs about auctions, on thai visa.

    Have a nice day. :)

    from the above poster

a lot of people will ask that amount, but a smart buyer can search and find an incredible home for 4M.

Smart people rent a house, not buy one. :)
