  1. If you read some of my past posts you'll see where I stand on the FTPA's--They do a great job on WS and probably the FTPA in this thread made a silly choice, but at least he was helping someone and thought he was doing the right thing--as any citizen should do. So that makes me think about the absolutely slanderous words and really bad comments on this thread and others like it (ie: about Condos, Restaurants, certain bars etc etc) worries me.

A lot of people know that Thailand has very harsh slander/libel laws and any person (Thai or Farang) can take a case to the Courts very easily with the right evidence. This evidence can be hearsay, direct slanderous words, emails, photos and myriad of other evidence. A lot of the posts on Thai Visa and other forums (which happened once or twice last year) are extremely slanderous and even if most posters are unknown (hiding behind their forum names) technology can find them, but if not, Thai Visa (or other forums) can also be held accountable (according to the current libel laws) for actually allowing these comments to be posted on a public site (I know this from experience a few years back when someone tried to ridicule and bad mouth my business on WS on another forum). So the recent thread on this subject, the stopVT7 and associated threads, just to name two of the more recent threads are enough evidence for the Thai Courts.

So maybe it's time for all the forums to really monitor the nastiness, innuendos, hatred etc on all the threads before one of them is actually taken to court either by an individual, entity or Company using copies of the threads as evidence. Maybe rule changes for forum posters are in order. I would venture to say that probably over 95% of posters/readers on Thai Visa and other forums are here to garner information and have a good read or laugh, not read derogatory threads (my opinion of course). Anyway I've had my say and hopefully it may lead to some changes.

Hopefully Thai Visa may take this post as as a legitimate grievance against some of the venom that is written these days.

    Thank you...Thainet.

It's only a forum, big deal..

Oh my god, someone said some bad things on a forum, So what,

Do you think the hole of Thailand views Thai Visa. ( don't think so.)

You take yourself a bit too seriously. :o

Lighten up. put the keyboard down, go out and enjoy Thailand.

and its wonderful people and customs. :D

  2. I haven't seen any reviews of the great british fish and chip shop on Soi Khao Noi on this thread but I have tried it a couple of times but I haven't been impressed so far, still a work in progress I think.

Don’t bother tried it three times, it’s very disappointing

    no more ever for me.

But if you want a real laugh try the Lamb Kebabs they are doing

Got to be the worst in pattaya. :o

  3. Very badly advertised around pattaya. so im not surprised there was not many people

Only saw it myself yesterday whilst having a beer on a friends balcony and saw the big top in the distance, first I new of it. :o

  4. I know its not horses but has anyone tried the Black Eggs, they are apparently soaked in Horse Pee Pee. The have an acquired taste - you either like them or you dont. I find them quite delicious.

Think someone was taking the piss girl.

Pull the udder one . :o

  5. Russian tourism is down 80%? Nah...I'll bite my tongue and try to be nice today.

But seriously, you mentioned a worse comparison to the 1997 currency crash. Is it projected that the baht will go down substantially in value?

I've been regulary transferring money back to my country of origin. (Mainly because I could never get a Thai bank to give me interest, and I fiigured it wasn't quite right that I should let them use it to make profit when they give me nothing in return -- somewhat a matter of principle, I guess.)

This was the case now and before, so why bring money to Thailand?

was this money from the sale of a house/condo?

i only leave very small amounts of money in thai banks. 500,000 baht max at any time.

    just in case.

  6. Buy new if you can, . much safer.

But if you buy second hand only go for bikes under a year old. They tend not to have been fcuked with by so called mechanics.

  7. Just a little up date. For the we know it all brigade.

After years of life in Pattaya I went to obtain my car/motor cycle drivers licenses

    Two days a go.

1 original medical cert plus copy.

    1 residency letter plus copy.

1 Passport with non o visa. plus, two copy. Photo page, visa page, entry stamp page., tm slip.

1 original uk, old style pink/green full uk car/motor cycle license, plus Two copy both sides.

    2 application forms.

Had to do the eye test, depth and perception test, reaction test.

That was it. 1.5 hours latter plus 360 baht, all done.

No International license was required., could be as im a brit?

    No driving test required.

    No road safety video required.

No multi guess question test required.

Staff all spoke English, thought it was, all very professionally run.

    for a government office,

    Totally stress free 1.5 hours.

Well done to the staff at the driving license center :o:D

  8. Rather than paying to set up a business why don't you talk about study and then she may find a course she is interested in and want you to pay for her to do that. It's a win / win:

    1) She will think it's her idea so will be much more motivated to do it

    2) The course will make her more employable and she may oneday be able to get a job doing something she enjoys. Or, if it was a small business course then she'd be in a good position to run a small business in the future and understand the potential risks and returns involved.

I tried this but GF still does not have a job after four different schools. Says she didn't want to work 10-12 hours a day 6 days a weeks for 6-8 k.

Finally went to work at airport as meet/greet staff for travel agency making 15k to start. Still has six day week but only works 3-6 hours a day depending on flights. Says she found something she enjoys. I think its because she only works a few hours everyday.

    You understand the Thais.

Good luck to you and your wife. :o

Not directed at you ball breaker

I Have one question for you lot.

Why do the Thai Chinese have all the good businesses and money in Thailand?

I know why do you? :D

Then you still pay for the business latter , yes :o
