A fixed hot dog / Burger bar is not a bad idea in the right location.

Not seen a busy one yet, not with a continual line of people like you get at burger bars in the UK. Look at the one outside the Stags Head, prime position and empty, not worth a carrot, same as the other 2 only a few seconds walk. Good position means beach road means big rent means no profit. Something that moves like a cart or bike with sidecar means no rent at least she will have half a chance of making a living.

If you don't have an International driver's licence plus the licence from your home country you will have to do the multiple answer written test. With an Internationa licence you will only have to do the colour blindness test, pheripheral eye test, depth perception test and the speed reaction test. It is not as hard as it sounds. You will need 2 passport photos, 2 copies of your Passport main page, 2 copies of your visa (Non Immi O or retiement extension) and a certicate of resdency from the Immigration Office (Soi 5 Jomtien). Get yourself to the their offiice early in the morning about 8 AM and you should have your licences before lunchtime. You don't have bring your own fotos now. They will take the picture of your gob for you. It is a lot easier if you take a Thai speaking person with you.

just tried the new recently open f n c shop on soi khao noi - verdict the best ive ever had outside blighty not cheap/not dear (APPROX 200-250B) choice of cod or local fish,beer batter proper chips, etc EXCELLENT.

Beg to differ but they are bloody awful.............tried them just after they opened (since i live just up the road ) went in 3pm omly customer (so had every chance to get it right) ..........got the special at 175 baht ( john dory?)..........anyway chips were brown on the outside but not cooked on the inside...........batter was heavy and soggy on the fish and outweighed the fish by 3 to 1.

Worse thing is, i was really hoping it would be ok , as Patters could do with a decent chippie.

All very true, tried it twice now, Fish was ok, but the chips are the worst i have had in years in Pattaya. won't wast any more money at that place.
