  1. What the hell is St. George's day? I have enough from the daily Halloween in Pattaya....lol

its the day the English celebrate a saint from Palestine, born from a Syrian Mother and Roman father, whos reamins are in Isreal!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. look forward to australia day parade, 4th july, st geroges,st andrews day, etc, etc, etc and yesSt Georges day is confined to bars not roads. nationalism best left at home, once any form of it comes in then you will get problems with the melting pot that is pattya. unless you have lived with the troubles and understand the mentality of opposing groups its difficult to understand it.

what next Thais around the world throwing water over everybody on songkran day, thats Thai wifes opinion about it. what part Ireland are you from Aussiechick?

  3. only international or thai licences are legal, this retest is real pain i have a car and bike licence and have to the test again for both every 5 years and watch the flippin video every time. going again next week :(

  4. tried many has been done to death but easy answer for me is Dr Sonlam pattaya inter hospitaal, most of the so called dentist cannot even do root canal. he is good, speaks good english and to me honest, plus from the 9th floor of the hospital you get a great view of Pattaya from the chair. be there tomorrow :(

  5. pay as you go on the beers then you will not get scammed, been in Thailand long time and still when i decide to check the bill its wrong, not only Samui every where, better if bins were put innfront of you on the bar then you can see them, better still get in the 21st Century and have electric bins which print out what you had how much for that drink, bill total and who served what drink and its placed in front of you. or keep your empties in front of you if on the beer. maybe a bill for each drink you have had would be good so you can count them as well. so easy to put 1 more stroke of the pen on the bill and thats another 90 baht for the tip box

samui has the habit of keeping the check bins out of reach, wonder why :whistling:

  6. thats probably 60 farangs who will never come back to Samui, should enforce it everyday then people would not feel so angry about the traps set by the Samui police, who can be seen regularly riding around off duty with no hat on. dont see to many people riding around phuket and pattaya with no hat as everybody knows the law is regularly enforced.

  7. what would you class as suitable, power buy, tesco carrefore all have garmin units, i had to i go and basically the map was good but the unit rubbish, ok my fault but the guy warned if you leave the charger plugged in and start the engine the unit will fail and they did 2 times. i had the i go 8, now i have garmin 205w, would not be without it, bluetooth would be handy as the better models have. one problem for me was garmin units are way way more expensive here than UK. got my 205w in tesco UK £85

  8. hope i dont catch on else every nationality will have its national day parade and its always on beach road so another fouled up traffic day. why not just have a pub crawl and chuck some money in for charity, next st georges day parade, then australia day, 4th July parade and so on. all the time has to be on beach road which fouls the traffic up through out patters, why not a parade from bar to bar in soi 6.

  9. since bitch is not Thai word cannot see how that would stand up in Thai court, see a lawyer i doubt she has the cash for a long drawn out civil case. see a lawyer. maybe get a mate to bar fine a girl from there thats means she is running a brother illegal, all sorts of ways to play her game, but a long legal battle will scare her off. to much money.

  10. i will be suprised if after some time you still think its a wise move to live near Thai relatives, i would toe in the water and rent first.

i personally prefer marriage visa as it only requires 400,00 baht in the bank or 40k per month income. same as retirement just easier, i think anyway. buying car can be done easily, if you buying new for cash and no fianance alot of dealers will do paperwork for you, can be hassle if you not used to it with trips to immigration, proof of address or you can put in wifes name.

if you want PM me and i will give you web page all about best way to learn thai and where, bangkok based. put together by friend who reads, writes and speaks it, now teachers TEFL teachers.

as you wil find out nothing is easy here but you just have to go through the pain of the learning process. hundred passport pics and photo copies of passport and visa good start.

car-bangkok = nightmare took me 3 hours to go 2 miles a few weeks ago.

  11. ok not in your area but same distances pattaya tai, going down the road get to soi 12 on right hand side on the corner best vet i have used, speaks perfect English and will put animals down if required. IMHO well worth the few more Kilometrers

cheap and cheerful vets on soi at side of banglamung police station, does all my street dogs for innoculations and neutering, half the price of other vets. he did ten on table tops in one afternoon out in waste land.

  12. maybe you will enjoy it, i watched it and also felt the orginal was better, is it not on the net some where whats showing when. answered my own question, google pattaya cinema

  13. Rubbish. The farang neighbour and his car should move out of Pattaya.

P_Girl, get yourself another 3 cats, a couple of rescue dogs (noisy, yappy type) and maybe a cockerel.

so that would mean the neighbour has to buy 3 fishes and maybe half kilo of pork, 100 baht max. but if you really want some rescue dogs have 150 can provide you with.

the scatch think my pick up gets scratch marks from my nails around handles and from my dogs, i cut them out but cutter is not good for the paint, so i am sure cat claws could scratch but cannot understand why a cat would want to scratch at metal. dirty paws marks over a car i cared for would annoy me immensly, just as much as dirty dog paw prints on the roof of my truck but dogs dont do that .

as for the nature thing and domesticated, dogs years ago did not have tin openers and cans of dog food, they hunted, killed etc that was there nature but they evolved and became domesticated where as cats never have.

each to there own but i dislike cats but would never harm one, and in fact do feed them if they seem in a bad way.

at least the neighbour has given the oppurtunity wto put things right and not just done it and said nothing.

i am lost on how cats and cars can turn into a gays in florida thread

  14. if there are a few of you budget car rental is good and safer. insurance 4 wheels. if the not have in kp book with budget surrat, get bus to surat and they will pick you up at bus station and take you to rental place. until i bought a car thats what we always did and split cost 4 ways.

would not worry to much about scenery, you will be to busy looking for on coming trucks, bikes, cars and cattle coming towards you in your lane. i hated it.

  15. If for whatever reasons your insurance during your holiday isn't adequate, why should any Embassy get involved in charity events. In my opinion definitely not what Embassies are about or should get involved in. Either make sure that you have adequate insurance and don't participate in activities that an insurance may not cover, like riding motorbikes with a bigger cc volume than your insurance allows or covers.

In my opinion this would be unfortunately something of your own making and I don't see why an Embassy should get involved in any charity funding/raising as you suggest. Just don't see the logic.

Sorry but in the u.k we have 1 of the highest taxes in the world. Yet people are skimming money out of our free benofit system pushing txes even highigher. So tell me good use does having an english passport have wheb british people who really do need help abd cone fron a country that has a. High tax income give the average british citizern who has worked most of their life instead of hanging around the d.s.s every day and drivinbg back abd forth in a car whilst pretebding to be skint

i would have to agree with BigC here, it would be nice if the UK had a universal healthcare system , or fund available, we all pay high taxes for crap medical care in the UK, and if you travel to spain ect, you are covered under the NHS, something called E34

Getting back on topic I wonder if the young lad qualifies for NHS care bearing in mind he is currently resident in Dubai?

And therefore paying no UK tax or NI.

Food for thought. The real message of this thread is to habe a valid licence for the vehicle you are driving...and insurance which covers you.

leave the UK for more than 3 months and you loose right to NHS, got my letter last year even though i am still classed as ordinary UK resident as i still own property in UK. read these threads time after time yet peope still travel without insurance which is relativly cheap now days.

  16. Rimmer has best idea, i dont like cats, so i am with the neighbour, if a dog craps in somebodys gaqrden its up roar if somebodys cat does it it is supposed to be accepted. if it were a dog jumping all over a car people would say the owner should keep it under control. if i had just paid a few hundred baht to have car cleaned and it was continually cover in dirty foot prints i would be well hacked off.

my thai neighbour said he hated dogs and would kill them if they came into his garden, he has a full time gardener, a beuatifull lawn and i understand how he feels so i built a good fence.
